Multihulls! Another hull to go! Very nice indeed.

They give you twice the practice building, or 3 times for a trimaran like you do. Thanks for watching.

I just found your channel and enjoyed the first video in this series. I have purchased the build book for the 18 foot Cat from Wharram and was looking for info on how well they went together. I also noticed you are on the Florida Gulf Coast as well, I am in the Panhandle area. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series.

Hi Louis, thanks for watching and glad you are enjoying the channel. Which model are you building? The book/sketch plans are very complete and you will always find the answer to any questions sometimes on the next page. The techniques for the Tiki models is fairly similar across the range of models, there is nothing that can't be resolved with a little patience. Good luck, hope we run into each other somewhere along the coast.

@@RexandKathie It is their day sailor the Haiti 17. I wanted something simple for a first build but at least the size of my sea kayak to do some overnight trips with. I was also thinking it might be a good size for the EC.

@@louisfbrooks Great choice, they look like a fun boat and a simpler build is the smart idea for a first build. I think it would make a great EC entry.

Looking sweet! I like the scene where the the freshly painted hull enters stage right to obscure its partner still waiting in the wings... Folks no longer ask us what we have planned, they know the answer --- mostly sanding :). Good job you two, please keep em coming.

So good to see this tks . For me , paint is ages away . Yet need info for a 26 project . My first foray into paint locally , got me , light/dark red /black anti fouling paint , about $120 /5 l , and 'airless ' ? Have done some spraying before .
Your job does look grand :-)
Not quite your build area ,mine is fine for one hull , store in garden .
Am just looking at all the costs , want to do it correctly .
Wonder about the cockpit and deck area ?
Plan A is just for messing around local coast .
    Plan B is further , maybe , budget .
Gosh , 38 previous episodes :-) Maybe can fast forward some parts :-) Need info .
You do have space , a lot more than me :-) Dollies for hulls are fine .
If I fit the cockpit at home , need to modify front wall , maybe be practical given mooring costs /loaning / buying /making a trailer . Am 3 miles from the harbour and 1 from a river open to the sea am looking at all options and costs .
2 months ago , had no idea that this might happen , is something to good to be true ? :)
Costs me only time to find out :-)
Plan A is fine for now . Rigging is a major cost for me . What , where and how ? Anchor and chain ? Get local or 2nd hand .
Off to the habour this weekend .
Will look back here , have a great weekend .

our episode 26 has the timesheet up to that point, you will have to stop and start the video to be able to read them on a computer screen not a phone. It includes what we worked on and some of the details as well as cost of materials to that point. We did buy a pontoon boat trailer that we will refit to allow expanding the center area where we can assemble the boat on the trailer and then launch from. We intend to sail locally and up and down the coast a little. Won't be cruising long distances or at lest don't see that at this time. Everything on a boat is expensive. Best to you.

@@RexandKathie so cool thanks, am just hunting for info and ideas , just spent 4 hours down at the harbour at the yacht club . Glad to have a PC , will try and check back :-) to me , anything I spend $$ is expensive everything is going up . Word from the harbour is am looking at about 3 years to complete the boat ? If I can avoid work for a while , might go faster :-) Cost of materials will be interesting to compare . Am getting the materials for the cost of the plans . Am also happy just to sail locally , learn the ropes :-) Not a lot that can be done with the hulls , my focus is on the pod , which I can custom build . Going off shore , best to have some equipment , want to be safe . I do have 2 budgets , on shore /off shore :-)
Wish you a great weekend .

Looks great. Was the waterline 1200 lbs for each hull or for the two together?

1200 for the two combined. Thanks for watching.

Yes . lots of sanding , to what degree ? I use a lot 40/60'80'/100 -200 + get the surface sorted first . Yes , the smoother the huil , less drag to what degree ?

    • @RexandKathie
      @RexandKathie  Год назад

We usually sand with 80, 120 or 150, 220 and then Scotchbrite pads that are about 400.
