Thank you Bob! I'm working on a 1947 66-16/18 now. The timing isn't right so hopefully I can figure out how to set it without screwing it up! It's sad to see the old Singer factory like that. If only they'd go back to making them where they actually last. I guess I'm going to have to hunt for a 99 now, also a 301. Hmmm, might need a bigger house to keep them in!
So good to see you & Liz doing better! Loving the dad jokes, BTW. I too have noticed fewer & fewer parted out 66's on ebay. The last 66 I restored was a gift from my "favorite" sister. It came mounted in an 8-out-of -10 treadle table & I decided to just double down on it's authenticity & keep the rear clamp. After a $30 ebay haul, I now have every rear clamping attachment that fit the machine & couldn't be happier with it. Now I just need to practice my treadling. LoL
I tried to get back clamping accessories a few years ago, but was beaten to the punch too many times, I just decided it was a better use of my time to convert to side clamping. Wouldn't ya know it, when side clamping parts dried up, I found a puzzle box full of back clamping accessories!
Hi, Liz!!! She's so beautiful and awesome! That silverware tray is a super fabulous idea! For my longer parts that won't fit in my organizer boxes! Thank you! Thank you for the Singer footage! 😍 I never thought of protecting the screws 🤦♀️So many good ideas! Sending good vibes for your carpal tunnel 🙏🤗 Happy Sunday to you and Liz 🌞 LOVE THE SHIRT!
Thanks Alyssa! I wish there was better access to the old Singer site, but the buildings are still in use. I saw the doc yesterday morning and she gave me something to take the edge off so I could get some sleep... Unfortunately, the painkiller she gave me keeps me awake! I can't win... And yes, that's Gracie on the shirt...
Bob I remember that tool. ,,we called it the Fork. Two prong,,,and the tool to remove the hand wheel bushing. I have one ,,but cannot locate,,,,you can make one. Get a Metal Singer lock nut. ,,Drill hole in the Centre,,,tap threads,,,with a matching bolt. With a hex. No screw driver slot. ,,Screw Lock ,into bushing ,,turn the bolt. Into Lock. Pushing on arm shaft ,,. Easy peasy. Instead of your monster puller,,,,keep good. I have one.
I used to use the nut trick... Add a small nut inside the bushing under the stop motion knob, screw it in, take it off, add another nut, lather, rinse, repeat until the bushing comes off. Personally, I like the puller...
Sheri, I didn't include the video of me extracting the remnants of the felt from the spring as it took the better part of 10 minutes and involved a significant amount of profanity!🤣
I'm sorry about that awful carpal tunnel problem keeping you awake - what a ^$^%&^* !! There is a silver lining, though, as we got to see a bit of the charming Liz! (Hi Liz - and thank you for helping out with this.) It was a great video too - I really love hearing about the problems people are having and the various ways they can be tackled. I find myself thinking "Right - make note of that for future reference, I'm going to need that one day" over and over.
Thank you for the informative video! I will get some of that kroyal stuff today. I couldn't get the fork out. I got the whole bobbin hook thing out. Boy is it crusty. Could I use a wire wheel to clean that part up? You cracked me up when u read the letter 🤣. And you read my typo! 😆 Just what the heck is a microwave blow dryer anyway 😃🤣!?! Lol.thank you for your help. I pray I can get this old girl put back together! You and Liz have a lovely day. Hope your hand feels better
I use wire wheels in a Dremel rotary tool to clean a lot of crud and schmoo, that would be perfectly fine to do, just don't use a big one on a bench grinder fot that part. BTW - I thought you were making a joke with the microwave blow dryer, it really was funny!🤣 Feel free to contact me if you get stuck or have a problem.
It makes sence on the 99 that the stop motion bushing needed adjustment , when you think about it , every time you tighten the stop nut it puts pressure on the bushing ,and some people think they need to crank that knob so overnighting it will push it towards the body of the machine ,there for to tight , the 15-91 has a pin to prevent this instead of a sto screw .
Some of them have pins, some have screws, but yes, you don't need to be a 200 pound gorilla to over tighten a stop motion knob to mess up a machines operation. Fortunately, it's an easy fix!
I may know where a donor 66 is. There was one like the one I have decals gone but I think machine may be salvageable, I'll check and see if the guy still has it. I would like to learn how (or find someone to make) a wooden bottom for my 66. I'm out of space. I would like to be able to interchange machines with one or two treadle bases but I haven't tested this yet (some hinge pins that attach to table are longer or shorter than others)...I don't want any more treadles with cabinets. I just don't think I need one for each machine. (Thoughts?) am I making sense 🤔 😂
I'm going to make some bases in the next few weeks. I'm planning on shooting video of the process. You don't necessarily need a cabinet for each machine, but with treadles, that can become problematic as the belts have to be fitted to each machine for proper operation. There really isn't a good way of quick-changing belts for treadles either. For powered machines, it's no big deal, you can swap them easily enough. BTW - The decals for your blue 66 should be in this week, so it's getting closer!

I found a source for the same gauge here in the US (lower shipping costs). Sewingpartsonline has it. it's not indexed on their website, but if you srsrch their site by part number, it comes up.
OMG!The two of you are soooosweet with each other.....I envy you your relationship...really.
We've been together since January 1985, so I'm kinda surprised she still puts up with me... 😂
Good job ! ... Lots to take in, but I have lots of time for it to register..
Thanks Jorge! Great talking to you last evening!
Thank you Bob! I have the 66 mostly apart except for the main and vertical shafts. So I guess now the work begins. LOL.
The offer stands, if you need help, we can do video chat or phone calls.
@@BobFowlerWorkshop thank you!

I have a video that shows timing a 66. You can find it here:

Thank you, again!!! Cool to see Liz and Gracie!! Love the t-shirt!!
As you probably know, dogs have owners, cats have staff. Therefore, I belong to Gracie, not the other way around .. 🤣

Your wife seems like a lovely person, and is lovely too!
I think so too! We've been together for... Let's just say a long, long time... :-)

I too thought the red felt in my 99 was lint. Tried like heck to pull it out with a tweezer. Then discovered it's for oil.

Thanks Megan! Liz and I are going to do more videos together as it's going to be a while before right arm is back in commission.
I look forward to each video that you do. So glad to see your wife 's involvement. I learn something from each . Thanks for sharing! Jill
Thanks Jill, 30+ years ago, Liz taught me how to repair clarinets and saxophones, so I got to teach her to repair sewing machines!

It's 5am and I have a giant ice coffee and I checked to see if you had posted this and voila! This should be good! Great to see Liz in it!
Patty, what in the name of all that's gooey are you doing up at 5am on a weekend?
