When she asked for a sweet, I panicked because I knew exactly what was happening.
I've been a diabetic myself for 19 years and I know how stressful it is when your sugar level drops suddenly and you become desperate for carbs, a sweet and something sweet to drink.
What stressed out even more is how calm everyone else was. Nobody seemed to understand that this was an emergency and required a sense of urgency.
Let this be a lesson to you. When you have guests who are older, ALWAYS prepare a snack. Have a sandwich, juice and have a packet of marshmallows ready just in case.
