- A full unabridged audiobook of the classic short story, "The Boots", by Charles Dickens - complete with sounds and visuals.
The third part of The Holly-Tree Inn follows a tale described to our guest (the narrator) by the inn's boot-man, Cobbs. At Cobbs' previous situation, he befriended the young master of the house who secretly harboured a desire to elope to Gretna Green with his beloved. One day the young couple arrive unannounced at The Holly-Tree Inn and Cobbs has a decision to make as to whether to turn them in, or aid their flight.
The The Holly-Tree Inn is a collection of short stories, published as the second volume of A Child's History of England and Miscellaneous Pieces. The Holly-Tree Inn was originally published in the Christmas 1855 edition of Household Words.
There is some evidence that Dickens only wrote three of the sections and the framing story; the other sections are purportedly attributed as follows: "The Ostler", Wilkie Collins; "The Landlord", William Howitt; "The Barmaid" Adelaide Anne Procter; "The Poor Pensioner", Holme Lee.
Dickens began a tradition of Christmas publications with "A Christmas Carol" in 1843 and his Christmas stories soon became a national institution.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about. But it’s certainly a large project to take on. Fingers crossed though ❤️

Why did they separate them?
Separate the stories? I’m recording and uploading them one at a time but will make them into a complete video once they’re finished
Excellent question, and thought provoking. They probably didn’t know what else to do and didn’t want the children to run away again. I could think of other ways to deal with the situation. It’s kind of sad.
@@gailnewcomb8256 that was confusing to me also. who was taking her home? wonderful story.
