This was mentioned in passing at the end, but I do think it's worth pointing out that Abdel Basset Ali Al-Megrahi, the guy who was actually convicted in this trial, is now thought by many experts to have been innocent. The case against him was never all that solid, but the court was pretty dead set on getting a guilty verdict. If Libya was involved, which seems likely given Qaddafi's history, it's likely that the orders came through someone other than Al-Megrahi.
