OH. MY. GOD! And I’m not saying that because of the luxurious price point or the amazing piece of technology it is, but for your brilliant review of it. Seriously, superb. Congrats Bandrew!
Hey there! Now, my wife will be the first to tell you I have been a spend freak in the past when it comes to gear. Example: I spent £80k on Nikon cameras and lenses when I wanted to really UP my game. And she supported me. I spend a fortune on Apple gear to feed a passion I have for all things Apple. And lastly, for sound gear I have been disgustingly decadent with professional brands and elitism that would normally take me straight to divorce court! But no, Josie stays and loves me. HOWEVER, if I were to spend £1250.00 ($1500.00) on a USB microphone for just podcasts? She would leave in a heart beat! Great review., mate. Loved it.
@29:20 This microphone is for music producers or engineers who produce on the road. It allows you to get quality noisy recording from a variety of voices and instruments while packing light. You don't even need an audio interface.
Thanks for the painstaking review! A pleasant sounding mic. I also like the compact form factor and shock mount, compared to the Townsend Labs Sphere L22. However - usually I can hear clear differences with mic emulations or different real mics. Here, I could detect virtually no difference, except for the different polar patterns. (That may in part be due to your voice.) Also, with the Townsend you can change the polar pattern after recording (if the mic diaphragms are recorded separately), and the different polar patterns are available for all mics - not just the patterns of the original mic. - I found the TLM 103 emulation on the Antelope nicer sounding than the original, maybe the Antelope mic-preamp-A/D-converter combo is better than your Focusrite interface.
Great review of an impressive product, Bandrew. My chief concern with high-end USB microphones is that you only need one part of the internal chain to fail in order for the whole unit to be rendered unusable. I'd be interested to learn how repairs work with something like the Edge Go.
This mic sounds really good on your podcast, but a 19 dB self noise would make it a no go for voice-over. And in terms of USB mic emulations you could pair an IK multimedia interface or microphone (like the Irig Mic Studio at $150) with their vocaLive app for Ipad/iOS at a fraction of the cost.
Awesome review. I feel that the high price is definitely the company trying to factor in the development cost of that bundled software. Man was that some robust stuff.
Thanks for the in depth review. As I've taught more ukulele classes on zoom over the last 1 1/2 years, I continue to search for the best option that combines ease of use and good sound quality. Cheers ~

The antelope emulated the 103 better then the 103 it’s-self excessively noticeable when you were 3inchs away the antelope stood out and was abit louder and more pronounced wow technology is amazing if I got any mic I’d go with the Antelope no questions asked great job guys
Solid review. Thoroughly covered all the bases. I am listening on a Bluetooth pair of Hesh3s from Skullcandy. I could not hear any appreciable difference when doing the emulation comparisons. This is probably the best microphone that I’ve heard you do vocals, singing, electric and acoustic guitar. This is the only microphone I can think of that sounded very pleasant on all of those different things.
Truth be told, $1,300 is alala money for the Go! Now Antelope has the Axino Synergy Core USB Microphone (cardioid) at $395...wonder how it sounds compared to the Go.
Gee whiz, you’re the God of mic reviews! That mic would be two grand in Australia...and its not even a ‘real’ mic. Thanks for making such brilliant videos mate. They continually get better and better. Love your work.

The 103 emulation is pretty close... close enough that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you were an editor. The 87 emulation sounds great for you. Even the Edge mic itself sounds really nice! The preamps were a lot quieter than I was expecting, even maxed out. Thanks for releasing this today. I have an MKH8060 incoming that I thought was going to be delivered, but alas it will be tomorrow. Got my mic fix for the day.
Well, talk about an off the charts priced Mic! They should sign over part of the company to you Bandrew for doing such an incredible review on that thing................ :)
Was following this channel since I decided to buy a standalone mic... The only issue is that there is no choice for relative cheap mics in Europe. In US some brands cost 20-50 $ and in Europe that price is tripled. Would like to see some budget to moderate price mics for european market ^^
Geeat review as always. Would be nice if you could test the noise floor with some kind of usb purifier, like the ones from iFi just to check if there is a improvement.
It looks great, but I feel like in almost every situation where you would use a mic that expensive you would have a lot of XLR equipment lying around that you would want to be able to connect your mic to. You can get a great XLR mic and a Rodecaster Pro for that price. And probably have a much lower noise floor. I am very doubtful that the market wants a super high-end USB-only mic. Same with all the emulation features. Neat to look at and play with, but is anyone gonna pay top dollar for that? Time will tell.
At least it has compressor and gating in the driver software. I wish all interfaces and sound cards had that, so you can get that on everything you use the microphone for, like chat, streaming and podcasting, not just when you stream (in OBS) or post processing for voice over. (I don't understand why Sound Blaster did not have this in their new AE-9). Or at least they could add VST plug-in support.
I only see two real things wrong with this mic to be honest. 1-it’s a USB mic 2-it’s $1600 Awesome review as always. Can’t complain about that packaging or the accessories. But USB-C? Blegh
Since your channel is incredibly awesome, talking about mics, please make a review about akg c5, akg c7, akg c636. because they are worth to put a try on them.
Great Review! It would be nice to test the microphone Antelope Edge Duo with vintage simulations. I am curious if it is worth it on this scale of simulation in confrontation with real microphones.
Hi, Bandrew! I love podcastage - you do it well. Could you test the Antelope audio Axino USB mic? It seems incredible to me that a $ 400 modeling microphone would be able to imitate 18 top mics, with a total price of about $ 70,000. :-)
Man I appreciate you and this channel, but how do you make any money from this. That being said I am deeply grateful that your hard learned knowledge is free for us.
Here would be a strange test but one I feel would be interesting to see the results. Take a different USB mic (Samson C01U Pro USB for example) and do a blind test of both in their default settings, changing up what mic is A and what one is B asking viewers what one they think is which. Mainly the issue I have with a USB mic that is this pricey is how many people are going to use all of those features?
Is the mic compatible with other OSes? such as, ANdroid, iOS, GNU Linux, ...? If we set some effects and emulation to the mic, are those setups stored in the mic ? and we can use that setup on other computer wihtout setup it again? To my ears on my current listening setup, the mic has good frequency respond, especially the low/bottom frequency range. Great review. Thank youu.
Thanks for yet another great review. This one of epic proportions. What percentage of the microphones that you purchase for review do you actually keep? Do you return the others and just pay the restocking fee? Will you be keeping this one? Just curious.
Could you PLEASE do a USB/IOS vs mic showdown. I do rap vocals and have been going crazy on which to go with. Please do a video on the Apogee Hype Mic, Shure SMV51 and the Blue Spark! Then a showdown video. PLEASE! Thanks in advance :)

Its on $1,000 atm "on sale" i mean.. this microphone sound great but the price is not as great. BTW you also got the Blue Kiwi which is an expensive XLR mic Love your videos though.
Wow, So it sounds excellent on all of the uses you put it to. Def not for people only talking. If I who want one mic that records awesome sound for everything and comes with what other reviews describe as equal to the best gear emulations, then maybe this is more than worth saving for...? You said $999... where? I can only find $1249
They initially launched it at $1600. Then dropped the pricing to $1250 with an intro pricing of $999 which lasted for maybe a month or so. Now it appears to be back at the lower $1250 price.
A $1600 USB mic is ridiculous. At that price point you can get a pretty killer setup with a lot of options. Personally I would rather have 1 mic that nails the same great tone with low noise than I would a mic that can get a bunch of decent tones with high noise. That and who is this mic for? At $1600 you can get a Neumann TLM 103, AKG C414 XLII, AKG C414 XLS, Coles 4038, or a Royer R121 and get the actual tones they produce and still have enough to get a good pre or interface. And there's only so far you can go with trying to get the tube sounds through emulation. Hell with the money left over from buying one of the actual mics you can get a tube pre.
Dang poor AI just wanted to state it's own opinion, in it's own rude way, can't fault it for that. I must say, I was a bit shock that this mic didn't come with a separate audio interface, to me this mic doesn't sound better than the at2020, much less the TLM 103, but that's just me. my question to you would be do you ever return these mics to get back your money?. the vintage looks great to me, but is this mic worth the money, I think not. even in this case I would recommend a mic that isn't that good which is the Blue yeti. It sounds a bit much on the lower end to me. Great review, I felt like this review was worth all of the minutes. ah yes trying mics and running down the wallets so we don't have to, what a guy.
Ah hell yea. A nice long video for my birthday, couldn't ask for anything more. Except that it should be xlr, but nevertheless this should be interesting.
This sounds like a joke, but still I'll bite. All mics will clip if you yell into it, you need to place your mic at a good distance, lower the gain, and add a compressor, and that should stop any clipping.
If you want a good microphone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, get an At2020+ C: It's what I use, its around 150$ And the entire body is full on metal
So much for USB mics being entry-level compromises.
Now it's more of a mid-range compromise!
@@EU_DHD High-range compromise, actually! $1'300! Yeesh! Idiots would buy this!

For that money you could buy a RME Babyface Pro + SM7b and hit the strip club with your "pocket change".
Or the Audient ID4 and the Edge Solo regular. And strip club money. Or a RTX3060 for resale price.
TLM 103 the emulation had more added air frequencies, it wasn't a bad sound just different. I think it's an interesting idea/studio tool though.
