  • This Continental TKC 70 Rocks tire really does check a lot of boxes! This video review covers the complete lifecycles of TWO of these tires on my KTM 390 Adventure and my KTM 1190 Adv R. I have also run it on my 390 Adventure and the tire was flawless on all 3 bikes! The mileage on the 390's was nearly double that of the 1190 mileage.

Almost a perfect tyre. Just needs dual compound construction to create a harder spine. Having used the TKC70 Rocks tyre, Kyle's review on this tyre is spot on. He is the foremost authority on ADV tyres.

Kyle: You are psychic, I was one of the guys that you recommend the TKC 70 Rocks combo for my GSA 1250. I have just hit the 5000 mile mark and and my ware on the rear is very similar to the tire you featured in this video. My riding combo on and off road was also very similar. I just started to think about when to replace my tires, my front tire isn't showing a lot of ware BTW. I had pretty much decided that I would try to get another 1000 miles or so out of the tires (was thinking I'd get a new set after the ride to the Giant Loop Festival and back, or maybe even get a new set before the ride home here to Los Angeles. I can't tell you how much the tire videos you do have helped me and I'm sure 1000's of others in our Adventure world. You gave me confidence in the decision to go with these tires and your continuing follow-up is invaluable to all of us....Thank You....@stanforadventure

Awesome! Happy to be of service. I suggest replacing your tires BEFORE your trip. I'd always want the best traction possible for the "adventure" as you never know what will pop up. That being said... I'd run a nearly bald cord showing on my commute ... not so safe, but it's like a sportbike tire right?!!!

@@manybikesI changed Just the stock rear Pirelli and the wobble started, a week later I hoped to solve the problem by changing the front, but the bike still wobbles going past 170-180kmh. Even worse on a wheelie... Passing 140kmh the bike wobbles quite badly. Probably will try the anakee Adventure on the back and leave the mission up front. Still off and onroad performances are great! Peg scraping with no issue and even got my knee down Just for fun. Off-road they are much Better than pirrelis in my opinioni. But no fast street riding

Great review... after dumping the stock vstrom 800 dunloo mixtours, i got a set of dunlop raid and got 4,500 miles. Excellent tire but very noisy especially the rear. Also the front cups fast if you break hard on the tarmac. I am now trying a set of e07+ dakar tires (already over 1000 miles) and ao far I am very pleased. They are not noisy in comparison to the Raids but took longer to break in. Without proper break in, they don't inspire confidence. I may try tkc 70 rocks next...

Just my two cents, Two years ago, I paired the TK70 Rocks with a TKC 70 on my 16 1190s. Ran the combo for 1500 miles tell the front slipped on gravel on a chip sealed road at an intersection while turning with my wife on back. Didn’t dump the bike but scared the hell out of both of us. Got home, pealed both tires of and replaced both with TKC80’s. Fast forward tell a week ago, headed to Flagstaff following a CBR1000RRR of my buddies, I needed a better road tire than TKC80’s for the 1600 mile road trip. Figured why not burn up the 70 Rocks with 70 front. As you can guess, We rode fast and hard through twisties and two lane. After I got home, I noticed the front had very uneven wear and the 70 rocks had good even wear. First time I’ve ever had the chicken strips wore down as much as the center. I’m proud of the 1190 on how she TRIED to hang with a sport bike.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Месяц назад +1

Yeah, that Rocks rear can allow the 1190 to hang with the best of them. I am NOT a fan at all of the 70 front tire. I think it's a horrible tire choice. It's not a street tire and not an offroad tire ;) Thanks for sharing your stories. Much appreciated!

Had the TKC70 rocks and Trailmax mission combo on the Africa twin, they lasted around 6500 miles with mostly pavement and fire roads.
Have them on the KTM 890 adv R and smoked the rear at 3500 miles mostly offroad, front trailmax should last another 3000+ miles.
This combo works well for me everywhere but deep sand, sticky mud and grass.

Is there another similar but lighter front tire you would recommend to pair with 70 Rocks rear? Also, the profile of this tire looks a bit square. I had been looking at the Tusk 2 Track which has a bit more rounded profile for the twisties.

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can run the Dual Venture with the TKC 70 Rocks. That is very similar to running a TKC80 up front, which I did for quite some time. Your F800GSA really needs the stability of the 150. The 140 can be mounted, but it will make the tread pattern very flat, it will turn like a truck and ... it being a stretched narrow tire, I have seen them wear very very quickly.

I’m wanting a Motoz GPS rear for my Transalp but am torn between GPS front and Dual Venture. There is also TM Mission , Raid and AX41 and these TXC 70.
I’m in Florida so off road is sand and deeper sand. Most of
My off road riding would be graded fire roads with the occasional deeper stuff.
Riding will be mostly on road and will require good wet weather traction.
Not too many videos concentrate on front tire char ecstatics.

Make a front tire between the GPS and the Dual Venture.

I don't mind the quicker wear if the performance, especially in twisties, is better. The rally strs seem a little too soft.
