The Explanation for why Camilla is the way she is is genuinely one of my favorite parts of fates, and one of the reasons I say that fates does have good writing but it’s all in the supports. So there’s a thing in nohrs past called the concubine wars, where all the woman garon sired children (there were ALOT) with fought for power and political control. During this war Camilla’s mother used her basically as a tool and had her kill garons other children and consorts. After it all eventually ended Camilla, who had never really known love because her mother was a piece of garbage, resolved to make sure her siblings that survived would never know the same pain. Sadly most of her depictions in stuff since fates focus solely on her appearance and ignore the tragedy and trauma she endured.
