      @@letolethe3344 Woooooowww what a gross comment. Mulitlingual German speaker here - German has a lot of famous and highly influential poets and writers. It's literally called "the land of poets and thinkers" (Das Land der Dichter und Denker). Germans today don't speak by shrieking at each other in early 20th century or Austrian accents, as Hollywood movies about Nazi Germany would commonly suggest (and those seem to be pretty much the only onscreen representation Germans get). How would you even begin to compare the dialects of upper Swabia, deepest Bavaria, farthest Saxony, the Ruhr region, Frankfurt, Berlin or Bremen, or the islands in the North and Eastern Sea, to name just a few? There is beauty to be found in every language.

    Wow, I never knew there's a Malay dub of this scene! I love that they uses "saya" and "awak" pronouns, "saya" is the more nicer way of saying "I/me", whereas "awak" (for "you") is more dependent on the region, for most regions it's seen as an affectionate way of saying "you". Where I'm from you rarely get people that uses "awak" as their normal "you" unless it's always been how they were taught to use it, "awak" is often used between romantic pairings.

    Ok so as someone who somewhat knows Hebrew, I wanted to know what the scene said in Hebrew. Now what I find interesting is the fact that when referring to heaven, Aziraphale uses “Gan Eden”, which means the garden of Eden. So in the Hebrew version, Aziraphale is asking Crowley to go back to the garden with him, the place where it’s basically confirmed to have been where Crowley fell for Aziraphale. What makes the wording choice all the more interesting is that there IS a word for heaven in Hebrew; it’s Shamayim. I just thought this was interesting and something to share.

    I thought I was the only person who watched/listened to my favorite GO scenes in other languages! I felt kind of silly. Glad I'm not the only one. I remember thinking the French one was pretty good (but why do they call Crowley "Rumpa" or something like that?) and the Italian one was quite bad. The Chinese one I found surprisingly good.

      I feel like they could have translated: "I need you" to "Szükségem van rád" instead of "Kellesz nekem." It sounds a bit better, in my opinion, also it would suit how Aziraphale usually speaks... (In the English version at least). As we know him to be well-spoken.

      @@Flower_Queen I believe it's a matter of language, as 'szükségem van rád' is longer and might be harder to put onto and sync it with his lips - it's such a shame, sometimes it really takes the magic away from a movie/show

    • @Flower_Queen
      @Flower_Queen Год назад +2

      @katalincsillag I know it would be harder to synch to the lip movement: "I need you" is quite short and Michael said quickly, but some of the other dubs in the video also seem to stray away as they probably couldn't or just didn't shorten the phrase. My main point is It doesn't sound like Aziraphale with the shorter phrase, but it might not bother anyone who hasn't listened to the English one. It's mainly an observation.

      Edit: So I just watched the French Canadian dub and they say exacly the same thing as in English ("I changed my name. Crawley was a bit too squirming at your feet." "But you were a snake!"). I guess they assumed that French Canadians were supposed to know what "crawling" means in English.

      None.
      When he speaks French in the original version, they totally change what he says in French dub. For example, when he speaks to Justine, he tries to convince her to come to the ball by saying that there will be French food there. Then, instead of saying to Crowley that he took French lesson with M. Rossignol, in French dub Aziraphale tells Crowley how french people love food and how easy it was to convince Justine. Then Crowley says, "Are you the one saying that when you yourself love food?" And Azi replies, "That's right, you unmasked me! I surrender!" And Crowley says, "And besides, you introduced me to French food, I can't live without it either."
      When Aziraphale is in the Bastille and speak French in the original version, the guy (don't remember his name) says "...But, you're the first english I'll kill." (or something like that) and in French dub he says "...But you're the first person with a beige suit that I'll kill." 😂
