I hope no human disturb these beautiful orcas.
Orcas have been known to be an opportunistic species. There’s a pod of orcas off New Zealand coast that hunt sting rays, another off of Africa that have been eating the livers of sharks. Maybe this new pod just found a new food source that’s worth the effort.
Yeah but that's not normal for this area. The orcas in this area eat either fish (resident orcas) or seals(transient orcas) and orcas are known to hug coast lines, they usually don't stay in the deep ocean (where cookie cutters are)
Lol or someone’s uncle taught them that sea turtles are like GobStoppers, and fun to crack open 🐢 🐳
There are ten different orca ecotypes, each has its own distinct language, social structure, and prey preference.
Orcas are the coolest. So big and cool yet so agile fast. On top of their intelligence
Absolutely one of my favourite marine (and general) animals ever.
Poor things now they will never know peace ever again.
For gods sake, shut your mouth please, nobody cares about your feelings.
Capture of killer whales is illegal there. Now they will have ids, research, and will be studied and conserved.
Animals. Not things.
you are thing. not the orcas.
Stop referring animals to “things.” You sound just as worse.
I believe there's alot we haven't seen in this earth's ocean!
Aliens
True
Water is wet
You got that right , and yet how long have humans been trying to explore the oceans ? Frankly the more humans don't discover the better for the wildlife .
I agree. I think there's some kind of thing that says we know more about the moon than the oceans here.
Leave them alone
Exactly
Right!
No
👏👏
How can we help preserve them without learning about them?
So if a killer whale that lives close to land normally is seen in open ocean that means its a new species
Theor different physical appearance and diet were mentioned but we can forget those
Right? Morden humans live in different places, eat different foods/diets, have different skin tones. And humans are still one specie.
they mean ecotypes / pod types
im not sure how they got away saying species repeatedly because its completely wrong indeed
You mean a new pod not a new species.different pods have different behaviors.
Nope, there are at least three to five types of orcas that could potential be species or subspecies, not just pods. In western North America, there are the. 'transient', 'resident', and 'offshore' types .Scientists still aren't entirely sure wether they can classify them as such (look up 'Species Problem'), but regardless they don't appear to crossbreed.
@@imakequestionablechoices7446 closer to subspecies
What point of interest verifies the assumption that these are a different species of Orcas? Certainly the evidence of Cookie Cutter shark contact or sea turtle predation that is presented on this video shows no evidence of new Orca species!
News just being ignorant on what they are reporting on
It's only a new population in this area. Which is not totally unexpected...
Even type D Orcas have not yet been split into a new species I believe.
My thoughts exactly, it was a very generalized statement, the news needs to stop with the misleading headlines. Very disappointing.
It'd be great if the news would stop doing 🐂💩 altogether.
Maybe just go back to telling the truth. That'd be a refreshing change
@phillipjohnson915 are you a biologist? Or a professional with these animals? No? Then I’d keep your mouth shut.
Babe, wake up new orca dlc just dropped
These orcas are evolving. Last year they were attacking small boats in groups, I recently watched a video of orcas mimicking the English language, now there’s a species that’s unclassified.
Next thing they will be opening doors 😂
The boat attacking orca are in the Iberian straits
A few years ago there was a video of a D Type orca and they look very different than other orcas
Wow, orcas that hunt sea mammals in the open ocean. Never heard of that before. :-o
What next? They will discover they don`t eat at the Mcdonald's Drive-through?
I thought space, not the open ocean, was the final frontier.
We need to explore this planet more… imagine all the undiscovered animals and other things we would find
Wow! Just leave them alone. You don’t own them. Discover who they are? Just leave them alone.
I bet right now they are whales that have started traveling in search of food now because they can't find any where they come from.
Please, just leave them alone 😢
Knowing mankind, They are going to trap and tag them with a GPS to learn more of their migration.
Other than living in the open ocean and we've never seen them eat sea turtles what makes you think they're a new species? Are there no visible differences? Orca diets seem to be variant.
“We must find out what whale this is and take its dna to find out for science”
It would be nice if we could actually see an close picture of one someday
New pod; not new species! Clickbait or ignorance?
Actually, there are different species of orca... maybe. Scientists aren't entirely sure but the three fistinct types/species, transient, resident, and offshore, don't seem to crossbreed. More study of the genus is required to acertain wether they are species, sub-species, or races, but calling them species is not incorrect based on our current knowledge.
“New species” is clickbait, just a different group
It's not possible for it to be a pod migrating because of a warmer climate? I know we keep track of many pods and you don't recognize them, but if they migrated from a farther distance... Also I'd say of course they're in open ocean they're all changing behavior the last 10 years.
You should take a look into that yourself. They said in 2004 by 2013 the Polar ice caps would be melted they’ve had an 18% increase. No other predictions have remotely come true.
Clearly a border security issue that The Feds need to address 😊
These are not "killer" whales, they are *Orca!* ❤
Orcas are not even whales they are actually dolphins.
Tomato / 🍅
They are killer whales and aptly named
Yes but Killer Whales are named for hunting other whales, including blue whale, not human.
@@sblsbl7600 All dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins
What about Bigfoot?
What is visually different about these whales that caught your interest ?
Why is the sound so quiet ???
New species ??? 🙄
New Ecotype
A transgender type.
Then show photos of this that you don't know. Because this is normal Orcas
there is a video of scientists off capehorn South America from 4 years ago showing the same exact whale and the pic in that video at 3:54 is the same pic or whale in this video at 2:02 and its a type D...so that whale traveled from capehorn or you used stock video of those whales for this piece...
If they can't interbreed with the other Killer Whale populations then yes they are a different species, but if they can they are at best a subspecies or population that's developed different behaviors
They sounds like badasses, probably part of the "F*** You Crew." Maybe looking for yachts.
Or daft humans hee hee.
A different population or a group never seen before, behaving differently from local pods does not a species make.
Changing food items is not a new species.
maybe because they’re dolphins not whales
I see this as an absolute win
Wow new sharks. 😊
That's awesome
Aliens
As a penguin i will never go outside
isnt that a well known thing with orcas and cookiecutters? O.o
Of course there's more out their that we don't know!
Can we leave these ones alone please?
Shut up... theyre in the ocean. They have a 90% chance of being alone
Well we know who they are not!
Need to stop calling them "Killer Whales." They're a variety of dolphin!
I know right
these orcas have circles on them
New to you , not necessarily new to the planet .
Happen to get a biopsy sample. That is a very funny statement to make.
the public needs to know who these marvelous whales are
J, K, L and X pods!
They need to be protected.
In other news canada is in turmoil thanks to justin trudeau and his cronies . A new species of prime minister should be introduced
It's gotta be aliens
Who cares their talking about orcas not Justin.
you have a sad pathetic life if it revolves around Trudeau
They don't know you either😂😂😂
some orcas have been sleeping around
A new species. Really
how are we finding new species in 2024??
Fukushima fallout radiation, altering alteration
I got to see an airplane painted like an orca up close, it was, and owned by fans of the animal! Sorta around in the same area of this news.
Species… or subspecies?
Scientists aren't entirely sure. There's a few possiblities but neither is incorrect at the moment based on our current understandings of the genus.
It's a no brainer. We've been taking all their food source from overfishing and over harvesting of the oceans so they have to travel much further distances to get their food source.
Nah....... they're just Robo-Orca
LMAO
How do they react to humans in the water with them?
B.C. Waters ???
Proof.
few more years of development, and they will start building submarine bases 😂😂
orca's that spend time in the open ocean. wow amazing science here, something no-one has ever known. geeez what great insight.
🤡
Cool
Not too cool. That’s climate change.
Orcas that live in the open ocean, imagine that 😂
Yikes...stay in school, kids!
Meaning they Inhabit away from shores
IM DYING HAHA😭🤣
Lol, poke and prode these guys while complaining about fisherman. I say just leave them alone and justify your paycheck some other way
Yes, transient orcas as opposed to resident ones. You ok?
You are LAUGHING, but it’s HAPPENING RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE……..
I think you mean ecotype… not a new species… smh do you not ask the scientists these things when you interview them?
Actually, there are different species of orca... maybe. Scientists aren't entirely sure but the three fistinct types/species, transient, resident, and offshore, don't seem to crossbreed. More study of the genus is required to acertain wether they are species, sub-species, or races, but calling them species is not incorrect based on our current knowledge.
@@imakequestionablechoices7446 currently one one species of orca is described, they are grouped into transient or residential based on ecology and behaviour and not because of relation. Orcas are separated into ecotypes meaning they have behavioural and physiological differences and inhabit differ habitat from other populations.
@@imakequestionablechoices7446 cross breeding is irrelevant when it comes to determining species.
@@imakequestionablechoices7446 I think what u call “races” is what’s actually called an ecotype. Populations within a species or subspecies can be physically and behaviours different and not be classified as a different species or subspecies, it’s what’s called an ecotype.
But why mess with them at all. Taking samples is bothering them. They are Orcas that eat the same thing as other Orcas, whether they are transients or residents. Diversity of patterns is in nature. You see it in horses, dogs, cats, cows, etc.
WITH ALL THE OVER FISHING AND THE POLUTING OF THE OCEANS WE NEXT ON THE FOOD CHAIN
Does it bother anyone else that they keep calling them whales? The expert should know better
Orcas ARE whales. Yes it is true that they are classified in the dolphin family, but dolphins are toothed whales. Simply put, all dolphins are whales, but not all whales are dolphins.
They are whales…
I know....everyone knows they are air breathing fish....$tupid reporters
They are killer whales and aptly named
I agree. Everyone knows they are air breathing fish.
Evolution ⚡️
So what are they comparing?? Looks like an orca to me
There are different Types of Orcas. (Example)... TYPE A, B, C, D.
There is more ocean than land
Unless you cound the land under the ocean lol
Its a kaiju
Probably just a hybrid one species got frisky with a different species and now you have something new🤔🤣
So it is a new pod?😂
JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE.
Saying these “new” orcas are a different species is like saying that Germans and Norwegians are two different species. Slight racial differences do not a new species make.
They are not whales they’re dolphins
They clearly don't understand the meaning of the word "species"😂
Or you don’t understand the meaning of the word subspecies
Actually, there are different species of orca... maybe. Scientists aren't entirely sure but the three fistinct types/species, transient, resident, and offshore, don't seem to crossbreed. Apex of the ocean. My ninjas.
They are the orcas that have been banished... they're called the rogue ones
Rogue ones are rare and rarely seen
Ecotype not a species.

This species of orca may attack humans
That's not a species, it's an ecotype.
Scientists must leave these beautiful mammals in peace.....we don't want another Tilikum story😢
Leave them alone please
They are not whales
As HUMANS When We SEE, HEAR, TASTE SMELL ot TOUCH SOME WE IMMEDIATELY Try to give it an ID.❤ ITS OUR NATURE.
The open ocean may be the last frontier but space is the final frontier.
Live in the open ocean and hunt mammals.
Proceeds to talk about how they interact with cookie cutter sharks and eat Turtles.
Amazing
Hmm, they're mysterious and live in the unknown, eh? I've got it! Until they receive an official designation, I'll refer to them as "X Pod". X in mathematics represents the unknown and all. Not exactly catchy or original, I know, but hey, I think it's rather apropos
“We don’t know who they are”….well that’s that then 🙄🙄
Aliens men those are aliens
The humans of the sea.
