We have an original dark blue 1937 Austin 7 two seater convertible in my dads shed. it was his fathers pride & joy. I would like to get it running as well as identify what model it is. The one thing i noticed right off is that it has a full bench seat as opposed to two bucket seats.

back in the early nineties, I owned several A7s. A box saloon, which I, and my wife, restored from a wreck to a nice, practical, attractive car. We bought a sports car, with a home made body, and this became our first racer, in VSCC events and 750 mc ones. A second sports car arrived, we rebuilt it, got more power from the engine, and now my wife and I had a racer each! A swap got us a really competitive car, and a championship in 750 mc . Ran out of money after 6 years of enjoyment. Sold the racers but kept the box saloon, which was always at the front of the queue on the way to work! years followed, racing in formula Vee, and later, formula Junior with an Elva 200. Happy times!

Looking forward to seeing you getting your hands dirty doing the maintenance work! Great that you are enjoying the car, it was meant to be a big secret, if everyone finds out about it they will all want one. Big thumbs up to you! Hopefully catch you at Beaulieu!

Great video. Everyone mentions that the first BMW was a Seven built under license. Few remember that Swallow Sidecars got into car production building custom bodies for the Austin Seven. Few recognize Swallow Sidecars, or SS as they were know, and I'm sure Sir William Lyons is disappointed, as his company, now known as Jaguar, is still producing some fine automobiles. Too bad his guiding mantra has lost the "Grace".

@@Austin7Adventures I think a) decent entry point on a cost basis and b) like the shape and don't they have a sunroof that rolls back. Would go for one after 1934 as there was synchromesh on second, third and fourth gear I believe. Sold my MX5 a few months ago and money is burning hole in my pocket... Only downside I don't have a garage. I could always rent one of course...

@@davidwatson4728 Just to say that the Austin 7 'Pearl' is the version with the roll back roof. Expect a higher price than a Ruby, unless very lucky.

    1. Chummy or RK brand of an Austin 7?
    2. Do you watch Brum from the 90's and 2000's?
    3. Which gearstick is better to use? The Gearstick track or no gearstick track?
    4. Did you know i've written a book called Driving With Austin 7s?
