Renata Flores' version of Michael Jackson's 'The way you make me feel' has become a RUclips hit in South America. Something neither she nor her mother expected when they first made the video in Quechua, the language of the Incas .
'Younger people don't speak Quechua because it's seen as an old language spoken by 'uneducated' people' Renata's mother, Patricia, told BBC Trending.
But is their hit song changing this perception? And can a pop song really revive an ancient language by making it cool? We spoke to Renata and her mother about their mission to bring Quechua back to life.

Rafael correa had to learn quichua to win the elections in Ecuador, also spoken in bolivia and peru, Etc. and is a recognised language by the UN. There are 15 million speakers, enough to cover the state of georgia. I recommend you travel rather than spread false news.

Not only in the mountains.... peruvians are taking by their culture. Also in Ecuador, Bolivia and Northern Argentina

In Peru in the 50's and 60's native peruvian they mustn't speak in Quechua the citizens didn't try them as a human they see them as an inculture, this way my grandfathers didn't teach to speak in Quechua his children, my generation loss this ability but some of them ignored this type of treatment, so today some of them can teach us to speak quechua.

El quechua es la segunda idioma oficial del Perú; soy proveniente de la cultura WARI y todo el departamento de Ayacucho habla QUECHUA; igualmente hay otras regiones como Huancavelica, Cuzco, Apurimac, Arequipa, Puno, Ancash; Bolivia, Sur del Ecuador, Norte de Argentina.
El idioma QUECHUA llevamos en nuestros corazones en mi familia; nuestros niños crecen con ella👍
