It must feel like such an honor that you're able to go see these incredible pieces of ancient history. I have loved Ancient Egyptian history since i was a little girl. Whenever an Ancient Egypt exhibit came to the Museum of Natural History in Denver, CO I'd get so excited and go so many times. I remember when the King Ramses exhibit came and i was in awe! Even as a little kid I wished desperately that I could "go back" and felt so... depressed (? Empty? Alone?) that I couldn't and never will be able to see Ancient Egypt in all her glory. That thought has LITERALLY ALWAYS depressed the hell out of me. Weird, I know, I don't get it. 🤷♀️ I loved this video though, his passion is great.😊
A superb film about the very late Middle Kingdom.. Fascinating narrative of discovery and stunningly beautiful artifacts (and crocodiles!). Note: there may be a bit of confusion in using both the Hellenised name "Sesostris" and the Egyptian version "Senusret". Three kings of that name in Dynasty 12. 50:54 I find Middle Kingdom sculpture so much more expressive and realistic than that of the New Kingdom, when Pharaonic statues became rather more generic. Of course, the stone used in the Old and Middle kingdoms was so much harder and finer. 1:12:22 The stuff on Hor Awybre is amazing... I never knew that there was an intact burial from that period.

Fascinating lesson as usual Curtis glad I waited for a time so I could be rested and have apt attention. Crocs are cute when they are little but scary when they are adults. I have to wonder if they ate them as well the pharaohs and princesses. Or did they use them as just pets or implements of power. Also always amazed how all of this is preserved from further deterioration. Great guest speakers as well :) Amazing stuff :) thank you :)
great documentary I had no idea that there was a earlier female pharaoh than hatshepsut, thanking you so much for introducing her to me. I do wonder if Hatshepsut may have heard about Sobeknerferu and decide that she wouldn't display her feminity in public too much and that motivated her to always be depicted as a male Pharaoh.

@@CurtisRyanWoodside THANKS
Fascinating lesson as usual Curtis glad I waited for a time so I could be rested and have apt attention. Crocs are cute when they are little but scary when they are adults. I have to wonder if they ate them as well the pharaohs and princesses. Or did they use them as just pets or implements of power. Also always amazed how all of this is preserved from further deterioration. Great guest speakers as well :) Amazing stuff :) thank you :)
I don't know if there is evidence of them eating them, but they did use them for medicinal purposes.
great documentary I had no idea that there was a earlier female pharaoh than hatshepsut, thanking you so much for introducing her to me. I do wonder if Hatshepsut may have heard about Sobeknerferu and decide that she wouldn't display her feminity in public too much and that motivated her to always be depicted as a male Pharaoh.
Oh yes Hatchepsut definitely knew of Sobekneferu! She’s on the kings list commissioned under her and Thothmoses iii
