There are many swimmable locations on the east side of Taiwan. Hang in there, Max, you will be able to swim in some of the coolest places on the East side for sure.
There are major 5 sand beaches open to the public for swimming in Kenting. There are two major beaches that are preserved. One of them is where you went. It is the one that is most preserved that you cannot even walk on it. Kenting's winter temperature is great, but it is off-season because it's too windy. Taiwan's summer is too hot. It's too rainy during winter in Northern Taiwan and too windy in some Western coastal areas. Spring and fall are two good seasons to travel in Taiwan, but some people can still find it hot; however, it is not as hot as summer.
That beach we were at was absolutely breathtaking. In retrospect we understand why its not a swimable beach. We were just hot that day 😅 Thank you for your details thats really insightful not just for us in the future but for anyone else watching 🙏🏻

We were so lucky they told us because there was no English sign to say you couldn't go there, but I noticed there wasn't a path and asked. Thats when they told us!

I understand that due to time constraints you have to skip Kaohsiung this trip. But it’s okay, I guess it gives you a reason for a return visit to Taiwan in the future. While Kenting is a quaint tiny beach town, Kaohsiung is a major port city with different vibes. Also, as pointed out by other viewers, there are swimmable beaches in Kenting but they are just not on your chosen cycling route. Next time 😅.
We have so many reasons to return to Taiwan! We just cant do and see everything unless we want to live in Taiwan for the next year 😂 wouldn't be too bad!

If you climb to the top of the Alanbi lighthouse you can command the bird's view of three waters simultaneously, namely Taiwan Strait, Bushi channel and the Pacific Ocean. Cycling around Taiwan is really a baptism by fire but it must be a banner 10 days trip for you.

There are two beaches 2 to 3 kilometers north along Provincial Highway 26. You missed this area because you rode a bike to Kenting Park (which is difficult).
10:02 is this the beach that has star shape sand! ? I remembered there’s a beach with the sand looks like ⭐️ but that was many years ago. I saw the news said that the beach has been very much destroyed and had to close for preservation.

That gorgeous rock thing is also known as Nixon Rock for resembling the head of former US President Richard Nixon. Went snorkeling there. People also used to dive off that rock.

At 4'20", the gorge you see were actually coral reef rocks on the ocean floor many thousands of years ago...

that beach you couldn't swim is closed in order to preserve the star sands, in the past there were too many people stealing it
If not preserved would have thousands of people, jet skis, parasailing etc chaos. Don’t be selfish.
