I am from Taiwan, and watching your videos exploring Taiwan makes me feel so relaxed. Thank you for coming to Taiwan to ride around the island, which has helped me gain a deeper understanding of my country. I feel a bit guilty as a Taiwanese person for not having traveled around Taiwan in this way myself. There are many places you visited that I haven't actually been to, which is quite embarrassing. In the end, thank you for guiding us to see the beauty of Taiwan through your videos!
Thanks for another very nice episode. As tiring as the climb must have been, the scenery was just beautiful and the fact that you used a drone for the footage shown at about 11:00 is really appreciated. A lot of cyclists would choose to do the round-island tour clockwise, i.e., going south along the east coast in winter. But unlike you, they would be riding on the mountain side of the road, instead of going next to the ocean much of the time. Hopefully the wind will die down a little bit as you go further north. A bit of trivia for you: out of the 23 million residents of Taiwan -- about as many as the population of Australia, only one million live in the three counties of eastern Taiwan -- Taitung, Hualien and Yilan. Jia Yiu! And I hope the number of your subscribers will reach the 30,000 milestone while you're in Taiwan.
Ah Jay! Thank you so much for appreciating the drone shots 😅 Because it is not easy to fly a drone and ride a bike AT THE SAME TIME 😂 In terms of the route we are obviously hating the wind but so glad we doing it the way we are as we can eat so much on the west and suffer on the east 🤷🏽 At least thats one way to look at it. 😂 Thank you so much for watching and subscribing we really appreciate it
@@MaxandJacqueline I think that the effort put into making that drone shot really paid off. Speaking of eating, you wouldn't want to miss the night market in Hualien. Wink, wink.
The sea line in eastern Taiwan is very beautiful, and it is also the most memorable route after my trip around Taiwan. Through your lens, I want to return to the east coast to travel again.
Hi Chris, yes I think we have received the same message on our end. We will be careful and look into the trains too. Thank you so much for your help 🙏🏻
The seasonal downslope winds that you experienced is basically very similar to the Santa Ana winds that is fueling the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles right now. Fortunately, you have only encountered the gentler version, a real strong one would easily knock you off the bikes. Good to know that you two made it safely.
Incredible scenery and great video! It really makes me want to travel to Taiwan. Just a question about road safety: how did you feel in the highways and roads (in the towns), sharing space with cars? Congratulations for this amazing trip in Taiwan!
Thank you Pedro! We mostly felt really safe, the cars are quite good at giving you space but every now and then one got a little to close for comfort or there wasn’t much space on the road. Compared to cycling in other countries it was very safe
It's so great to find your videos a few weeks before I embark on the same adventure (though I'll be cycling in a clockwise direction because of the wind 😄). I was curious whether there's a reason you backtracked part of the route and crossed at route 199 rather than continuing on route 26 and then route 200 north of Kenting. Definitely gonna watch the other parts as well!
Hi Max and Jacqueline ❤ I’m a Taiwanese living in Finland Turku, soon next week me and my husband will be going to kaohsiung Taiwan ❤ for Lunar New Year🎉 I don’t know how long you’re staying in Taiwan, but if you guys are still in Taiwan, I wish you all have a great time enjoy your Journey😊 I hope my English is good enough to you to understand 😂
Very pretty views! I know you’ve already done it but good luck for tomorrow’s ride! It makes me sad that taroko national park is still under repair. I know some parts are slowly reopening but many aren’t. I’ve also heard the bike ride along the coast between hualien and yilan can be hard to bike because of cliffs on one side and big busses driving by. I think many bikers take a train to skip that part. I bet the view is great tho.
We have to come back one day for Taroko national park, it looks insanely beautiful. Yes we will be taking a train in that section after Hualien, Bike Express recommend it for safety and we trust them a lot ☺️
@ I think I’ve been to taroko maybe 30 years ago? I was a kid and I don’t remember a lot. I really want to go back at an age where I can appreciate it more! They sound like a great company. Very helpful!
I read you guys have biked around in many other countries. Taiwan must be the country which the easy access to affordable food and places to crash are unmatched by any other country?
You are 100% right, Taiwan is pretty incredible for that reason! We’ve done Australia and France and both were very expensive especially for accommodation.
In Taiwan, if it is not specifically mentioned in the menu, the meat would be pork. Just like in Australia, it would probably be beef, for example, meat pie.
wow. Road 199 is the difficult route. Some people choose to go via Road 9 but 199 is just so much prettier! reaching 16km/hr is not easy!! although you missed 旭海美景 on road 26 which is a pity
Hello Tina, yeah this road seemed quieter and definitely prettier. Im not too sure where that stop on route 26 is. Sadly we must like you said missed it 😔
Thanks for sharing Guys!🕺💃 Could you have gotten Electric Bikes? (If so glad you got Petal bikes, Electric bikes are like a riding motorcycles) I hate riding into the wind also up hills not fun. But you can see the end now! Love your channel 💞you always take the hard way. 🚴🚴🚴🚴Cheers 🍦🍦🍷🍷😉
We saw a lot of ‘stray’ dogs on the west coast too, we think they were stray because no one was around but they always looked very well fed and sometimes had a collar.
Aren't u 2 tired of going on bikes and biking around Taiwan? It's much easier going in a car or using a taxi. I hope u 2 love Taiwanese food and refresh yourselves with Taiwanese mango shaved ice 🍧, it's similar to a snowcone but way better and dessert Taiwanese pineapple cakes.

Joey!! Thank you so much for being such a loyal fan! We so love hearing comment slike yours. Come on you have to come back and travel there again!
Thank you !
Oh my gosh, no, thank YOU! Thats so sweet and just really really generous. Thank you for supporting us it's so kind!
I love the east coast of Taiwan, always makes me feel relax.😊 Mountains and ocean all in one sight.❤
It’s very very beautiful but these winds are killing our vibes 😂 I think the east coast in summer would be amazing !
Fantastic series. Nice edits and gives a good feel for the experience.
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it 😊 and thanks for the kind feedback it means a lot to us
It's better to take train when you leave Hualien to Yilan, cause Suhua Highway is a very dangerous way.
Hi Chris, yes I think we have received the same message on our end. We will be careful and look into the trains too. Thank you so much for your help 🙏🏻
I admire your courage and perseverance.
Thanks that so nice 😊

The winds almost knocked us off our bikes in Kenting when they were cross winds! These ones were more head winds and they did not feel gentle at all 😅

Paddling torwards north is really painful in Taiwan.
Good luck and enjoy.
Thank you! You got to enjoy the struggle which we definitely start to feel in our next videos!
The east coast lineof Taiwan is really stunning, hope you guys enjoy it :))
Yes! We are so excited we have heard so much about it. And the wind is something you just cant avoid so might aswell tackle it head on 😅❤️
It’s funny the guy took a selfie with you when you were having lunch. I guess he must be quite excited to see you. Lol
Cheers
It was weird because right before that he looked at our lunch and shuddered 😂
@ People don’t know how abrupt they are sometimes. Cheers
😅😂 Very true
You are very lucky, the weather is so good and there is no rainy day.
We’ve been so LUCKY with the amazing weather!
@@MaxandJacqueline You should go to Taitung from Manzhou, the scenery there is very beautiful.

Ah thanks for the follow up. Hoepfully we did the right choice

Strongly recommand to take train from Hualien to Yilan because the road condition is very poor after earth quack last year
Thanks for the tips. Bike Express have also recommended this, apparently this section is very beautiful but might not be worth the risk!
👍👍👍

Hahaha Yes, thats actually crazy we were lucky 😅🍀
