Finally someone being honest about Hello Fresh. It is dang expensive! Who on earth spends that much on a meal? I can shop for a week for six people for $200 or less. We eat well!

I live in Australia and the 5 meals box for 4 people is $120, it’s not too bad if you consider a kilo of minced beef is $15. Saying this, I got couple of boxes and that’s it, don’t like how restrictive the recipes can be.

I tried HelloFresh for a few months (feeding just me and my mom).. I didn't know how to cook, cookbooks and grocery shopping was overwhelming so I tried the service! I didn't save money but I was able to learn quite a bit about cooking from the experience, so now I can meal plan, grocery shop, and try new ingredients without feeling overwhelmed. Their ingredients are pretty BASIC (put salt and pepper on literally everything lol) so you won't learn A LOT but it's a good starter. If you're new to cooking and are feeling overwhelmed, this is great! Maybe try another meal subscription if you have diet restrictions. BUT never pay full price for it!! There's ALWAYS coupons... Can't wait for more of Sarah's cooking!
Same! When I first got married and moved out we got hello fresh a couple times and it taught me a lot about the basics and made me try new things I never would have tried before

That overwhelmed me and many of your principles have helped me when it comes to budget, sports, health, organization, tidying up and changing behavior. My parents got divorced at 11 and after that I had a big part in raising my 3 younger brothers. I understand how hard it gets, and how lonely. You are doing incredible for pushing through!! It's not fair, what you have to go through, but you are incredibly strong for getting up day after day.

@@vee6976 so if it works for you it could be nice. I personally have tried it for about 6 months, the recipes are good, some things are different for us. But I'd say 4-5 times, I'd be waiting on my box to cook supper and it never shows, you don't get an update that it's not coming. There are a few times that we were missing ingredients and a few times where ingredients were rotten. You do not get everything you need, no oils, butter, salt pepper, aluminum foil...things like that, most are items that most have on hand, but not the point, it's advertised you get everything needed. The portions are large, so I'd say a person box could go to 5 people. Some of the recipes they advertise cost more, so there us qlways an option of about 3 or 4 of the meals to choose from that are an additional $5-10 per serving if you choose them. You are already paying about $40/meal. Their meats are amazing! Very good quality!
When we had that random snow storm here and everything was crazy, we had actually had a box already scheduled, they have this baramundi fish that is amazing, and it was on schedule, lol, so we had done that weeks, box said it shipped, it never came. It really sucked because I didn't go to the stores to shop because it was coming, it didn't, then I had to go to the store where everything was sold out.
So in short, we use it every now and then, because it is nice to get something different, customer service is awesome! Every time we had a problem it was fixed, they actually have chat options with live people as well as a call option. The meals are all quick, noting over 45 min for a healthy home cooked meal. I think it's expensive, but use someone's code, get the deal, and try it for yourself, it's a great deal with the promotions for 1st time customers. @@mommypov4958 wow thanks for that information, I always like to hear more about it and get different opinions. Sarah was the only one who has at least one bad thing to say. I don’t plan on using hello fresh at this very moment, maybe sometime down the line. I always meal plan and save a ton on groceries I wouldn’t want to change that right now. I would be more interested in their recipe cards and just make meals at home with my own ingredients! Thanks for your opinion as well!!!
@@vee6976 of course! And I feel the same, no one ever mentions any trouble or a bad experience. And I find it hard to believe, however their customer service is awesome! It's the same for us, we are a family of 7, if 8 were to do hello fresh for our size family it would be upwards of $80/meal. When icorder, I usually do the 4 person and double it on my own or add a salad or something and it always works out. Good luck love!
@@vee6976 it’s because they get the boxes for free and then they have an affiliate code so when other people use their code, they get more free meals. Who wouldn’t love that? For the average family, it’s totally not feasible. When I was a young mom, I would have loved the convenience, but there is no way we could have afforded it.

I thought this was going to be a boring pro-meal subscription video, but this was AWESOME!!! I love this Mom VS idea, and this video was so informative and helpful. I’ve always wondered how people can argue these services are affordable, and I think you proved that it’s convenient, but not necessarily inexpensive. I’d love to see something like a “Mom vs toy subscription”.
Oh my goodness. Toy subscription!! I never even knew that existed. They would sell anything.
I thought this was a great take on this service. My household is two adults and two children. My family tried this service for a whole month to really give it a try and play around with meals. But it was still more expensive than what my family would usually spend. (I live in the US and have a family of four. This service didn't work for our lifestyle but it may work for others.)
You just summed up my family’s experience🙌 we also tried a month, and at the time we also had 2 adults 2 children, and it was SOO expensive: for us it was the same price for 2 meals with serving size of 4 as almost a weeks worth of me just normally grocery shopping. Convince was there, loved the speed of it especially with 2sides, but like you said, overall didn’t work for my family. However, college student me would have thrived on this.

Yeah my cousin is addicted to his Nintendo. When i invite him over he stays glued to his Nintendo whole talking nonstop about Pokemon and his Nintendo. I drew a manga character for him, a boy with a speech bubble face and skateboard. He just glanced at it, said nice, and went back to Nintendo.
If I was an influencer with thousands of people using my referral code, Hello Fresh would be saving me money too! But in no way is Hello Fresh money-saving for the average person 🙅🏻♀️

As a student, I'm doing hello fresh this year, at least for the first few weeks because I'll be figuring things out. I tend to not plan my meals, run around all day and then come home and have no idea what I want and I spend forever figuring it out or I just give in and eat out or make something weird. Or I have a horrible habit of not eating until midnight because I didn't know what to eat.
At least with HelloFresh they have a 20 minute meal option, I can pick easy stuff, and if I order 3 a week that feeds me for 6 meals and forces me to eat real food for dinner for half the week, not weird snacky things or fast food. Its not cheaper but for 1 person its not bad.
This video is so great! I would love, love, love to see a Mom vs. Mom video where you go up "against" yours or Kieran's mom and make or bake the same dish (or try each other's signature dish) to see how they compare :)
You should do a series where you try some of the other meal subscription boxes out there like Blue Apron and Sunbasket! It would be helpful to see how they compare to homemade meals and which are best.

I sooooooooo appreciated this. I think a "mom vs. professional" type of video would be fun to watch (like a professional photographer, painter, organizer, etc.)
We've used it when I was sick in early pregnancy, and at one or two other times...purely for convenience! The recipes are basic, although fun to make, and we definitely didn't save money! But it was helpful in times when my husband was working long hours, and I was too sick to do much :)
And this is exactly why we can trust and value your opinion/recommendations on literally everything else! So awesome. 👌🏻

As a student who enjoys to cook - I actually do opt for HelloFresh once in a while. I feel like the most important thing you're missing in this video, is that obviously you can and should always adjust the recipes to your own liking - the recipe guide is obviously super minimal, why not just stir the potatoes if you feel like that makes them better, you know? And while I can also easily grocery shop for cheaper - I can't grocery shop with as much variation as I'd get from HelloFresh. Just thought I'd point it out! :)

I just got my first Green Chef box this week and I was thinking "meh" but then this made me actually feel a lot better when you were talking about Hello Fresh. They let you choose how many meals a week, GF, Dairy free, Veggie, Vegan, etc. I wanted to try one of these meal deliveries bc I have chronic illnesses, all of us have allergies, etc. SO many reasons. We've done 2 meals so far this week and they are delicious but it still takes me forever to cook them (might be user error.....LOL!). PROPS TO YOU for sticking with your morals when it comes to sponsors!! You the real deal and its why I stick around!!
I'm curious with Green Chef how you select fewer than three meals per week? I don't see that option and we'd like fewer.

Oh, man, it's so cool to see someone doing a hello fresh thing with no conflict of interest!! This is such a cool video. Some of this stuff is personal preference, like preferring shrimp with noodles vs salad, but the fact that they don't have dietary stuff, and they force you to buy multiple meals, and /some of their stuff went bad/....yikes. Finally a youtuber that does not loooove hello fresh. Thank you, Sarah. What safes us a lot of money is the following: Doing a huge supermarket delivery once a week (convenience 😉, we are both working and have two kids) and going to the local market twice a week with the kids for all things fresh, fruit, veggies, baked goods, cheese, meat, flowers 💐 ☺️ .

The price is really dependant on coupon codes. Like it can be reasonably priced if you have a 12 or 14 meals free coupon. I was doing the 4 people and 3 meals, and it was I think $56 for 3 weeks and then $65 for 2 weeks. While it might not be as cheap as doing it myself I'm currently working 60-75 hours a week (US tax season) and they're quick and easy, and if I can't cook one night, my non-cooker fiance can without burning the house down. It just depends on your needs.

Mom vs cleaning products...is the natural cleaning products made at home better than the store bought natural cleaning products. Also, what is more cost efficient.
Mom vs. detailing car company. Is it more financially efficient and incredibly clean for a mom to do vs. a detailing car company. I would love to know the pricing and time breakdown. Do you feel the products a detailing company is using on the car, safe, quality and holds up well compared to what a mom would use....
I have tried thredup a few times. Personally, I have found better deals and better options at my local second hand stores. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with thredup.

They aren't saying they are, they're cheaper than eating out or getting takeout. They're more convenient than meal planning and grocery shopping.
