I like the C2X - seems the most quintessentially voxy... at least, to me. It has a rosy-cheeked sweetness compared to the more business-like top-boost stylings of the other two
fanstastic video! many thanks! oh the "An Cat Dubh" guitar riff.... open E AND B string. D,A,D,A#,D,A,D,A#..... E,B,A# (dont fret the third on the B string leave it open)
Man I love hammer and beck. I don’t know what inspired you to make these awesome videos but I want to help you out if I can. Where are you in the United States?
For all but one part you played I preferred the HW and C2/C2X, but they all sounded very good. The HW seemed like it broke up a little earlier / less headroom, but it had a nicer crunch and harmonic distortion to my ears. You did an excellent job, so it likely just comes down to personal preference and which one fits a give song or tonal choice.
Thanks. Honestly I did the HW clips last and had a little ear fatigue and turned that amp up a little more than the others. Aside from that, the differences in the three amps was really just softenerse in my playing. Which is why I'm using a Ditto looper pedal for such comparisons now. Take the biggest variable (me) out of the equation.
My CC2X is just ok for lower volumes but ...kinda meh ....has some ghost notes when cranked and playing single notes. The distorted sound harsher than even my 90's korg era re-issue. .. ... Is this normal for most of the CC2's?.
there's an inherant splatty-ness to it. even at clean settings it sounds like its about to breakup. I'm actually quite surprised that the C2 sounded the sweetest.
I’m sorry, but how come you played EVERY Tbx clip like a rank amateur compared to the other two models? It seriously sounded like you were scared of the guitar…
So kind. ;) It’s because I did the TBX first, cold. By doing that I was more warmed up when I did the other two. Notice the light changing. This was a 2 hour process edited down to what you saw. If I was playing for real I’d do a 30 minute warm up first. I rarely have time for that with shop videos.
Nice touch with the early U2 lick... that took me back! Great demo sounds, TY.
Came for the AC15 tones and found the JAYHAWKS too. Thx for taking the time to record and share.
Closer than I would have thought
What''s this fretting with the thumb stuff!???? Haha! Great video series, mate.
Jayhawks! All time faves!
I heard some big star in there 👍

Thanks! And yeah, didn't realize it was a rusty lick until I was doing it.
I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth.... Nice job, well done.

Liked C2X or HW best across the board....
C2 across the board. And hey, turns out it's the best overall value! But why do I suddenly want a Rickenbacker? 😉
A Tom Petty fan 😊😊👍👍

No. The CC is a bit cleaner and brighter than other RIs but is a good sounding amp. Yours may not be healthy.
A like and a hell yeah for September Gurls!
So these have all been modded to be the same- what exactly is the point of the video then?
Nice, "Begin the Begin"!
Of course also loving "September Gurls", "Substitute", "Red Hill Mining Town", etc.
The HW didn’t sound as good as the other two to me surprisingly.
