A massive thumbs up to Gimai Seikatsu. A romantic drama about step-siblings that took it's time, does not go for cheap fanservice, explored both protagonist's inner conflicts in a mature fashion and ends with both of them simply taking it slowly out of respect for themselves, their parents and friends.
I mean the author basically looked at how it's done in other anime, and simply lurched to the extreme in the exact opposite direction. It's like the whole thing was written just for contrast.
They hardly seem like people, more delivery vehicles for endless angst. The author really really wanted us to take them seriously, to the point that he drained them of any quality apart from overwhelming relationship angst.

But I guess they needed time to work things out, after listening to some unexpectedly kind and honest advice offered by some side characters who came out of the blue.
I like how the tension it gave was just enough. It wasn’t annoyingly dragged out. You can tell how conflicted they are by their feelings, considering the circumstances. You can feel both their joy in knowing the feelings are mutual but also the sadness and the confusion. But knowing they have each other to lean on while figuring it out.
