For real. Give the penalty yardage, if its enough for a first down, they get it, if it's not, it's not a first down
I can deal with bs rules and calls, but I CANNOT STAND inconsistency!
A punishment for the refs of SOME kind needs to be implemented for agregious blown calls. Obv not money, but maybe suspension or something...
I don’t see how you could truly effect them without touching their money. I don’t think we should either but that’s the only way.
The NFL barely wants to pay or train them so where would they find the "Replacement Refs"
the refs have ZERO credibility with the fans, and even the coaches and players know theres something up, when they won't fix or punish refs who make obvious blunders. it does tarnish the shield to have so many blantant bad calls in key moments.
Rich, this is a smokescreen. We know all you're going to do once appointed to the committee is whine about the fumbled touchback, which anyone could argue is a foundational concept in the game of football. Allow me this rant. Football is a game of siege at its core, a game of field position that mimics ancient war. If you change the fumbled touchback rule, the entire concept of the "End Zone" doesn't even make sense and you'd have to change the name of that part of the field to "Touchdown Zone" or "6-Point Area" or something dumb. The End Zone is the area of the field the defense is protecting (Base). If you fumble the ball into the other team's Base, why should they be forced to give it back to you? It's like being in a battle, dropping your weapon and the opponent being forced to give it back.

I'm with Rich. Some of the roughing calls I saw last season were ludicrous. Guys are being penalized for following the law of gravity and Newton's First Law of Motion. C'mon already!!

I would love to see quarterback push plays with options - handoffs, laterals, anything. They will be great when they work and funny when they don’t.
The refs have zero accountability when they make mistakes. What other job can you mess up and nothing happens.

Don't believe Vrabel and Tomlin really only think 3 out of the 80 were questionable.
Way more than 80 roughing the passer calls last season. They just took a small sample size. Do the math. It’s happens at least once a game. There at least 280 games in a regular season.
Third one was obviously the Brady one that everyone talked about for a week
Get rid of those idiotic taunting calls, and there were several really bad calls last year
I don't like the push-in-the-back rugby scrum because it's effing boring. It has the effectiveness of the old short extra point, there's little chance of something crazy unexpected happening, and if there were to be a fumble we wouldn't even see it.
From a fan's perspective, it's a bad play for the game.
why cant delay of game be reviewable ? its not even a judgment call!! if we can stop the game to look frame by frame to see if the ball jiggled, why not delay of game?!?!
I personally hate the rugby play. It just seems to make 1 yard to gain scenarios trivial and the whole "stop it" mantra is stupid.
Either the Chiefs or the 49ers literally called the snap, jumped over the lineman and met Hurts right away. Didn't matter, the "second effort" rendered that completely moot.
You physically can't stop it and still maintain your assignments, and it's so easily altered to hit whatever gap you don't put 7 people in as we saw with the more power like sneak in the super bowl. It just does not seem competitively fair.
Dexter Lawrence for my giants got one against Minnesota. It could have cost us the game

lol, if you take bad calls out of games that are not reviewable, vegas will loose millions & many refs will not get those bonuses.
reviews should be reviewed in real time not slow mo.... unless trying find a spot crossing a line or not or in bounds or not.
Remember when Tom Brady was punched in the mouth versus the Rams in the playoffs? Brady was penalized, no roughing the passer was called!🤔

Nahh the sneak is cheese that Philly uses. The only way to stop is to have your dlineman or linebacker jump the pile and smash jaylen right in his head. It’s cheap your just chop blocking lineman in their shins to get the yard.
Philly likes to cheat....just ask Behn Wilson and Dave Newell about that Flyers/Pens game back in December of 80(?)
The rule change I'd like to see is making FG's kicked from 50 yd or further worth 4 pts. Any team inside the opponents 43 yd with under 2 minute in the half can have the ball spotted at the 43 during a dead ball.
It would make Super Toe(I had that as a kid) FG kickers more valuable however, so there are salary cap concerns, but it would make for even better Fantastic Finishes

Here’s my advice- simplify the rules, make dpi a 15 yard penalty, codify those simplified rules and disband the competition committee-
