  • Overview of the Liquidlogic Kiawah 10.5 and 12 foot kayak. Liquidlogic's newest recreational kayak is made to be floated on rivers and creeks. The Kiawah 10.5 will be great on narrow rivers and creeks and the Kiawah 12 will shine on open water, larger rivers, and offshore paddling. The Kiawah 10.5 and the 12 comes in under $1000 for 2023 and is equipped with a very comfortable seat, great paddling, and enough stability for even a novice paddler.
    The Kiawah 10. and the Kiawah 12 both provide great value at the current price point for anyone wanting to get out and paddle in moving water or offshore.

    Very please with this kayak. I kayak a narrow lake with little boat traffic.
    when the sun is in the direction I’m paddling, I paddle backwards.
    the design of this kayak is wonderful. Stays straight and is sturdy no matter which way you paddle😜 easy to turn and control.

    The Kiawah 12 is essentially a rotomolded PE version of the Hurricane Osprey which is made of thermo ABS. The Kiawah costs $500 less but weighs 22 lbs. more. The Kiawah 10.5 weighs eight lbs. less than it's bigger brother and costs $50 less.

      What is PE? So this is the more durable material vs. the Hurricanes, correct?

      @@thebeardedpaddler More questions.
      We're in Arkansas just outside of Little Rock. You're Ozark Mountain Trading Co, are you in Conway or one of the other locations?
      Don't these Kaiwah's come with scupper plugs? I don't see any in the one you showed here.
      Do you have no slip grip tape for the deck?
      I believe LiquidLogic sells a wheel that can be added to the stern. Do you have those?
      Yours is currently the only review on YT, but I don't think you have put one of these in the water. I would love to see one being paddled...

      @@rungavagairun I manage the one in Cotter, AR. They do not come with scupper plugs. Marine mat would probably be the beat thing to use. If I were you I would look into the Native Falcon 11 it has all of those things included and is a really good Paddler.

    Can you comment on performance of this vs the Crescent line? A local shop is running an end of season sale on the Kiawah 12 that brings it down to the price of a Primo. I'm not sure about the extra weight, but just curious what you think of those 2 boats - specifically comparing paddling performance.

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  12 дней назад +1

      I prefer the Kiawah 12. Crescent makes a great kayak but the weights of the Crescents are a bit over what they say (some up to 20%) higher.
      The performance and comfort for me is better on the Liquidlogic due to personal preference in what I like a kayak to do

    • @PeteBarta
      @PeteBarta 4 дня назад

      @@thebeardedpaddler Thanks for the response. Yeah I actually noticed that Crescent updated their website recently with new, higher weights for some of the models. In the walkthrough video, they clearly said the Primo is 55lbs, but now the website says 60. Sounds like they've heard this kind of feedback enough to make some changes.

    Like it only thing one lake I go on isn't that big but gets kinda choppy might take more effort to get back but be great for just chilling and getting sun so ya think that wouldn't be hard to paddle and cut through water then

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  Год назад +1

      Really low profile in the water so wind resistance will be good. For lake I would go with the 12 footer. Thank you for watching!

    I'm looking for a sit on top to use in the shallow rocky rivers of Central Texas. My favorite river can be narrow and fastish or deep and slow moving. I"m wondering if the raised seat will make the boat top heavy in tight turns,

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  Год назад +1

      It's raised but sits very low in the hull. I've tried it personally on some pretty narrow adventurous water

    I like the kayak, but have to wonder if there are additional kiss-offs in the hull. And the drain plug is in a bad spot, I see a reverse piton in this kayak's future.

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  Год назад

      I'm not sure I'm understanding your comment. And the drain plug placement is very similar to most other manufacturers. The plug placement makes it easier to drain any moisture out of the hull

    • @The66Leadfoot
      @The66Leadfoot Год назад

      @@thebeardedpaddler it's just that the plug is at the very back, not a little off to the side like a lot of other kayaks. It's going to get bumped, either on the water or just by sliding it into the back of the truck.

    How does the legroom compare to a Pescador Pro?

    • @thebeardedpaddler

      More legroom. The foot pegs adjust further away and the deck space is a little more open

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  Год назад +1

      Kayak is currently available. Not sure on the wheel option though. Im not usually a fan of the wheel in the keel option as it can lead to hull stress where the bolts go into the hull.
      Great question!

    Would you consider the 12 foot model fast for a sit on top? Looking for one I could cover some miles with and have good speed, but I dont want a sit-inside. Anything you can think of that would be better for my needs?

    • @thebeardedpaddler
