I have a brown female newfy. I am very proud of her. She saved a man's life this morning. At one o'clock in the morning, in Fargo ND the temperature was -10. Her bark wasn't a normal bark. Usually when she barks I just sit up in bed and check out my mirrors on our truck. This time I had to get up and look. I didn't know it at the time but another driver was laying on the frozen ground. Barley moving with a broken leg. He couldn't get up and was barely moving. He had a 9 month old puppy with him. At one o'clock in the morning mostly everyone is asleep at the truck stop. I found out later that instead of setting his leg putting a cast on it and send him on his way. They had to operate on him. While getting dressed I watched two women in a car drive right past him. Didn't stop or look at him. If the woman driver would have spit out of the window she would have spit on him. She just drove right around him and kept going. UNBELIEVABLE. But my girl came to the rescue. If it not been for her I would have not known he was their. She is a hero.
I have a brown and white Newfie female, she just turned 2. We live in Florida and finally we’re moving to Pennsylvania, so excited for her to see snow!
I just ran across your channel because I follow Newfies on Instagram. I love Newfies, the local Newfie club where I live has a lot of fun contests, all the usual water and cart pulling tasks. They also have carts they take to the local children's hospital and let their sweet Newfies give the sick kids a ride after they give the dogs a big hug. I grew up in Gainesville, went to school at UT-Arlington, so I know your area well. Many a friend and relative went to UNT in Denton.
Your dogs must have loved the snow .. they come from a place that it much much colder then Texas .. where I lived I Newfoundland if the temperature was in the 70s it was way to hot
They got almost 3 feet of snow with winds up to 70 mph during what was called a "cyclone bomb" within about 15 hours. Drifting was the biggest issue, with drifts over 13 feet high in places.
