i want to be first to say that TQ is a machine. the work she has put in the last few days to get us the shots has been great. you are very lucky shawn to have a great wife and colegue as TQ
Incredibly productive day SLC. As mentioned, y’all did a lot of work, even though the storm is over. Really appreciate the amount of maintenance that y’all put into your equipment. It’s basically nonstop for the two of you. Y’all are great examples of how it’s done. Have a blessed,& wonderful evening. Stay safe, warm,& healthy.💯❤️👍🏾😀🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Really enjoy your content. You do a great job bringing people in to watch something they might have no interest in otherwise. For me thats the lawn care side which is how I discovered you (I do snow removal as part of my business). I do find it funny what others consider a deep freeze but it is different for everyone. Keep up the great work!
You should think about some wood to put on the side of the salt spreader to help keep it centered. Just a thought. We haven't gotten much snow here in Colorado. It snowed today but only a trace. Only been out 2 times this year for residential snow removal. As much as I would love a snowstorm, I would not want one that big!
Not sure if it was already said, but in order to spray fluid film in large quantities, you will need the undercoating sprayer, it's made for spraying woolwax/fluid film. You will have to hook It up to your air compressor. I undercoat my truck this way every year.
Build a rectangle box out of 2/6 wood and put on both side to keep it centered you can put some old carpet against the box so it doesn't rub in these boxes can be built just by the wheel wells only just a thought be safe you guys love your videos we just had our little 4 inches of snow a couple of days ago enjoy
What we did was took a few 2x4’s and a 2x6 and make a square box in front of the spreader and put it again the bed (by the cab). We don’t have Boss spreaders but we have the western striker’s and they don’t move. We also don’t cross the straps. We found it better to go to the corners instead of crossing.
I just wanted to say when uou where using the skid to clear the top driveway if uou hold the arms about a quarter of the way up and put the bucket like your dumping you will be able to get better leverage and leave a better scrape. Just if you would like to try it I know it work for me.
For undercoating I like woolwax. It's a little thicker and less smell than Fluid Film. I have the air sprayer they sell. Buy it in five gallon bucket with hand pump to fill sprayer. Keep it next to the water heater and boiler to keep warm enough to spray.
On that fluid film Shawn we would thin in down with paint thinner and sparyed it with a Air compressor and it worked well that way I do what you guys do but on a smaller scale and it's just me so I understand what it's like stay busy god bless and stay warm and safe out there I been watching you all for awhile now
So glad I don't have to deal with a stone driveway anymore. It was always such a mess after winter no matter how careful we were plowing lol. stay safe guys.
Yes you can put that stuff in a sprayer to apply. I did something similar. According to the local weather person, what we've gotten in snowfall is the most since 1978. I remember that because I was 25 and did a lot of shoveling. My dad had a Cub Cadet with a snowblower attachment and my little brother made a lot of money clearing driveways.
Shawn and Savannah have been an inspiration to me as working together getting the jobs done and not all the other stuff that goes on when communication isn't ideal. Yall are in my prayers!!!
Tire chains or a track kit will help with the traction on that machine, personally I've never been fond of skid steers but then again I'm 6'5" 385lbs... they weren't built for me in the first place. I do know that there are so many attachments for those that it could be a major asset for SLC though... but it needs paint and SLC decals with green and pink strobe lights
Great video Shawn and TQ, for the fluid film sprayer check out Diesel Creek RUclips channel video “using a crane to undercoat my vehicles” he did a video on what he uses and how to do it! For plowing on gravel surfaces with the skid steer I would get a 2-3 of tractor bucket edge tamer skid protector that is going to keep the bucket off the ground by about 1-2 and not pick up gravel!
It seems that our father prepared you well for the snow that came your way. The bobcat came right in time. How does both of your backs feel being you haven't had to lift those salt bags? I think loosening a couple of black nobs, cleaning a battery, getting to play with the new bobcat, and having to wash the equipment is pretty good day, But even better is doing it together what a blessing.
We're getting the deep freeze here in the lower hudson valley region of NY as well. Today's high was 22 and the low is 9 but wind chill is like -5. Supposed to be super cold the next week at least. We've only had 2 storms that have dumped like 3-4 inches all total.
While watching the snow videos, I admit, I'm clueless. I do live in Florida. I've never lived in an area with real snow. I feel cold just watching your video. Yes, it has snowed where I live, but it wasn't enough to really matter. We have had hard freezes, but that is not common. Stay safe.
Guys definitely get a pump up sprayer you can also put Purple Power in it to clean you're equipment. It's a very good degreaser that's cheap works well and does not hurt the equipment clear coat. It also cleans up fuel spills and grease very well. He's on my mowing equipment and farm equipment. 👍
The way you have your salt spreader strapped down only keeps it from moving forward and aft. You need to add stamps pulling sideways to keep it from moving to the left or right.
Hey Spencer lawn care a nother great video for 2022 keep up the amazing work on your channel and u too tq u guys are definitely my favorite RUclipsr because your video is helping my lawn care business grow it is a good thing u got the bob cat they make bigger snow buckets for it u guys are awesome 😀 keep up the great work
Gotta get yourself some cleat-tracs for that machine for winters with this type of snow. I ran one with dedicated tracks and it was something else in the deepest snow…not so good on slippery or ice surfaces but great in the deep stuff. Always remember your psi and how it relates to your traction…’wide and float’ is not your friend in winter(normally).
You need a set of winter tires for your skid steer. We run winter LT tires on both of our trucks. They are a total game changer. Not only do you benefit driving on unplowed roads traveling to your customers properties, you have the benefit of the super grip they give you when your plowing. We run Nexen Winspike LT tires on both of our trucks. We never had an issue plowing our 4 commercial properties and 28 residential regulars, that we plowed 2-3 times with this event. We also plowed out an extra 30 + places for our family and friends. We made huge $ with this past snowstorm and picked up a few new regulars that want on our list because their plow guy was a no show.
Amazing timing picking up the Skid Steer and the new Truck! 🙌 They sell an applicator for fluid Film that uses compressor air. I don't think a regular pump would pump it. FF is very very thick in the gallons and needs to be warmed to thin for application. But beware t is a Plastic "can" ! Much much less cost that way as well
You two are AWESOME! The amount of time and prep you two put into everything is phenomenal! Wish you lived where I’m at? I’d have no problem hiring you...whatever the cost, you’re that good! Great respect from Grand Rapids Michigan ❤️
Hey Shawn and TQ watch you all the time. Been plowing for 30 years other guys are right about building a wood frame for salt spreader in the 22. Have 9 salt dog spreaders all with wood frames init to stop moving side to side no rub holes after 10+ years. Also steel tracks will not work on concrete or blacktop so stay away from that.
Swap your straps so that the hook actually goes up and through not over. That will also help it from slipping. Also do you run your vibration system all the time? We have a year older vbx8000, the only time we run our vibration system is if there is a jam up or once in a blue moon to break the corners free. So far we haven’t had any issues.
Great video! Have been on the seat of a skidsteer many times at zero degrees. What you need during the winter for it are snow tires. Those mud tires are horrible in the snow! Keep up the good work and hope for a lot more snow!
in one of your last video's you spoke about the salt spreader keeps moving. Have you thought about using more straps that would pull straight down in all 4 corners in addition to what your currently have on the spreader? I think these ones pulling straight down would be the key to keeping the spreader from moving for you. I like all the work that you and your wife do and keep putting out these good video's like this!!
Get the fluid film spray gun they sell. Keep the bulk fluid film if u get gal or 5 gals in temp controled area. Get a 4x8 rubber mat at farm and home store and put under spreader. That most likely will take care of it shifting.
Glade to see y'all getting to do some stuff around the house for yourselves now. They fo make a track kit for the bobcat. I have used them in the Army in the past before. To help when it is that bad for slipping. They just wrap around the wheels like snow chains but like a track. And might want to think about upgrading to the hard rubber tires it would help too.
We added a wood frame around the bottom of our spreaders to stop it from sliding to the side’s. Our salt dog one, I did add 4 extra straps as you said in the video to keep that one from sliding.
The saying is " You make the mess, you clean it up " Right?? Remind Shawn that when there's gravel in the grass come Spring PQ TQ !! :D *Have a good'nnn*
The Bobcat could not have arrived at a better time. That has to be a blessing in itself. Stay safe with the freeze, as a simple slip could be a terrible setback. I hope you both get some decent sleep and recharge your own batteries!
Hey Spencer we could use you & the wife cleaning snow in are state of North Dakota bc sometimes it takes forever to get cleaned up after a snowstorm ends especially were I live are city plows don't plow streets until 11pm unlike other states were there plowing right after the snowstorm ends just like you & the wife are in these videos.
Rock driveways are horrible! I own one and I usually will level the snow and compact it with my truck and make it nice and level. Then when I snow blow, I am not throwing rocks on my lawn. It might make it easier for you. Just add weight in your bucket of the skid loader and let the tires compact it. Just a thought. 🙂
Great job Spencers. You are getting good on the Skid Steer. I'm surprised that the grease nipples are on the front of the plow. Can get damaged. Mine our on the back side for the V blade. Lock N' Lube is the best. Keep up the great work!
The Boss salt box looks like it is also meant to be sat and secured onto rails, maybe a summer project to upgrade the bed with some metal railings to side the box onto.
Not had a great day today. Had it tough. I know other people will say to not think about but someone with ADHD and Austim processes information much slower and will sink in later in the night but for right now, I have a friend who has been taken to hospital to intensive care. So yeah not doing too well
I bought a 5 gallon bucket of fluid film a couple of years ago. It’s really thick and has to be cut with quite a bit of vegetable oil to run it through a Wagner power sprayer I bought. I don’t think it would spray well through a pump sprayer. Maybe someone else figured that out. The Wagner sprayer works awesome. I did one of our Isuzu npr trucks in about 15 minutes.
Old timers used to make their own fluid film with diesel and chainsaw bar oil. The diesel evaporates and the bar oil leaves a waxy coating on frames or anything metal.
No problem bet you can buy 5 gallons of bar oil and cut it will diesel alot cheaper than 5 gallons of fluid film. It's what I spray my truck frames, fender wells and plow down with really reduced rusting issues
Great Video as always guys ! we found that longer strap on our VBX from right side around the back to left side and from left side around back to right pulls the box better so it doesn't slide did front side as well but the rear was the trick to keeping it stable ... Its a great unit other than the knobs ... Don't laugh but we drilled a hole and tethered ours with rope and a clip so if it fell out it just dangles easy to unclip and screw back in .... The lock tight didn't work still lost 6 lol ....
My dad is on his 8th Bobcat since 1971. I was 8. We always wonder "what would we do without one". Then jokingly say "Well doesn't everybody have One". They make hard work easy. You're getting the hang of it pretty good! Lol.
I suggest you lay a 4x4 or 6x6 on each side between the wheel well and the salt bin to keep the bin centered. It looked as though the wheel was what stopped it from walking any further to the driver side anyway.
I think fluid film is too thick for a weed sprayer. I have an air sprayer that works great for it but i have heard a airless paint sprayer is the way to go. I might invest in a harbor freight sprayer. Would make spraying from a 5 gal bucket really easy. Also since your close, buy the fluid film from summit racing. They seem to be the cheapest i have found around here. I would also hit your ratchet on the spreader straps and the top grate with fluid film. You should do away with those hand screws on the spinner chute and just use stainless bolts with some loctite. Nice to see someone actually taking care of their plow equipment.
the fluid film will never spray out of a pump-up sprayer in the gallon, 5 gallons, and 55 gallons it thick like peanut butter there are videos on youtube where they buy the fluid film undercoating gun and they still heat it up. I used an airless sprayer when I use to do it the little spray cans they dilute it down I'm sure you can dilute it down with something safe so you don't reck your paint so paint thinner is out of the question
Shawn I've found the ratchet type straps loosen on my snowmobiles also. I've switched to pull tight straps they hold better ! You can use ratchet for safety backup.
Helped plow snow in the 1970’s. Had to move plow from side to side by hand no hydraulics. Dug out pin hole with a large screwdriver. Worked in a factory on second shift then plow for 12 hours. Then do it again. IT WAS FUNNN
I see that skid loader spinning and sliding. If you got the metal tracks you need to put them on. If not get some 1/4 inch sheet metal screws and put them in the tires for traction. They even make hardened screws for that purpose. Just an idea.
When you find the garage you are looking for I would suggest you have heated driveway. This would allow you more sleep and rest time. You provide a great work ethic for young entrepreneurs
@@SpencerLawnCare you can have something soft like rubber or some other material on the outside of the wood (touching) to prevent the wood rubbing on the plastic. My buddy had the same issue and has fixed it.
Love the videos you guys all ways post. You guys are an inspiration to me and I love that. Keep up the amazing work you guys do. Looks like the skid loader is earning its stay!!
Give a try to Dupont's "SNOW & ICE REPELLENT" a clear ceramic blade coating. Nothing sticks to it. Good on snow blades, chutes, shovels, door gaskets, etc.
Fluid film is very thick in gallon form I have the spray gun for my air compressor and spray my truck frame every year in arcade NY the sprayer idea may work if you heat it up first with like a torch I sometimes have to do that before I put it in my spray gun for my air compressor just to thin it out some or it won’t spray right even with compressed air
Was thinking with that salt spreader. How bout putting a couple 4*4 on each side between the spreader and the wheel well inside the bed of the truck. Maybe that will help it stay center.
You need to check about getting tracks for the Bobcat would make a big difference in pushing power. Have you considered putting blocks of wood on each side of the salt spreader 🤔🤷♂️
Excellent work as always. Gonna be zero to about 5 above here in Wv. Excellent maintenance work also. Gotta keep the equipment in top shape. Hope y’all get some rest and stay warm. Y’all be careful out there. Keep up the great work y’all!!!
Hey Shawn - look into buying a fluid film spray gun kit with a fluid film hopper for your compressor. Thing works wonders. spray all your equipment with ease. Enjoy your videos! God bless
Just for thought they make steel tracks that fit over your skid steer tires they will greatly improve traction and some lexan on the side panels to block that cold air
i want to be first to say that TQ is a machine. the work she has put in the last few days to get us the shots has been great. you are very lucky shawn to have a great wife and colegue as TQ

Good job guys keep up the good work stay warm out there and stay safe it is cold here in Ohio lol
Put a rubber mat under the spreader. Your truck will vibrate less and the spreader won’t loosen up or move
I love watching you....when we get snow here, the entire city shuts down. We would not know how to handle that amount of snow. Where has Tyler been?
Once those tires go bald on the bobcat I would definitely recommend putting treads on depending what you're using it for of course

You guys should stick 2x4 s in between the side of the truck bed and the spreader to keep it from moving
Been watching your channel for awhile now. Nice to see your business expanding (Spencer Storage Solutions). You guys rock!
With this much snow yall could put in a huge concrete tank and put it in it for garden use.
I see some driveway gravel work in your future this spring my friend. Gotta do what you gotta do
Good job TQ & Sean! Hope your done for a few hrs you can rest for awhile🤗🙏 God Bless you both & stay warm out there! 🖐 until next time✌😊❤😉🌬💖🤗
Shawn I've found the ratchet type straps loosen on my snowmobiles also. I've switched to pull tight straps they hold better ! You can use ratchet for safety backup.
Great job you two.
Looks like alot of work. Nothing the Spencer Team can't handle! Have a great evening guys!
When you find the garage you are looking for I would suggest you have heated driveway. This would allow you more sleep and rest time. You provide a great work ethic for young entrepreneurs
Make a wooden frame on both side of the salt spreader so it can’t move side to side.
It would add too much weight and they would not be able to haul as much girt as they can without the wood
@@EddieTruckingAdventures no man more like 20-40 kg if even
dealer told us not too. It will wear a hole in the container from the vibration
@@SpencerLawnCare you can have something soft like rubber or some other material on the outside of the wood (touching) to prevent the wood rubbing on the plastic. My buddy had the same issue and has fixed it.
Just a suggestion you should get a snow Bucket for the bobcat
Woolwax pro undercoat gun. That's what you need to spray the fluid film. Very thick stuff.
Love the videos you guys all ways post. You guys are an inspiration to me and I love that. Keep up the amazing work you guys do. Looks like the skid loader is earning its stay!!
Yes it really came in handy
@@SpencerLawnCare yeah we have the same bob cat skid loader with the 53hp kubota engine one too for the snow removal on our sidewalks
Shawn, you need some tracks for the bob cat !!!
I think they make some you can put over the tires
I use a undercoating gun for spraying bulk fluid film. I found when its cold you have to warm the FF up before spraying.
Always plow yourself out first in case something breaks and you need to get in and out fast.
we had to go to work during the storm. snow came while we were out.
Nice, need some tires for the skid steer.
Hope you had no other issues with the 16'.
Get some chains for the rear tires on the Bobcat. Will help out a lot with traction.
I might
Let's get them to 100k likes. Will pay for a new truck!!
Try and put a rubber mat underneath the VBX and see if that helps with the shifting issue as well as the dealership’s strap advice
You should take a look at the amsoil line of protectants. That have a really good line up of grease and spray protectant.
Thank you!
Be careful not to get bunch of snow build up down by your foot pedals …it can become a challenge! Love the videos guys 330
Put some wooden blocks inside truck bed to keep hopper from moving over. Great video 👍
The dealer said not to it could rub a hole in the plastic
Give you credit you do keep your equipment clean all snow removal company's should do what you do to keep your equipment running good
Was thinking with that salt spreader.
Great video always enjoy your video have a great weekend great job
Thanks Jason!
Hey Shawn - look into buying a fluid film spray gun kit with a fluid film hopper for your compressor. Thing works wonders. spray all your equipment with ease. Enjoy your videos! God bless
Cold in Texas but y’all can keep that up north!
hahqha
We know about cold. Our Friday was -4 with a wind chill of -22 here in Wisconsin.
Just for thought they make steel tracks that fit over your skid steer tires they will greatly improve traction and some lexan on the side panels to block that cold air
Yeah I did look at those
@@SpencerLawnCare I use to work for case construction we put on a lot of them before the days of tracks they work great
