The CBA is intended to break up dyanstic rosters. You get more fan bases with a chance to win and it allows the NBA not to be reliant on only big market teams. They essentially get more people excited for their team from more places and expand viewership. I think the CBA is also a marketing tool to boost ratings. That's a pretty wild theory, but it comes off like that a little. It bothers me because it feels like the obtuse rules and restrictions are so controlling and micro-managed that it ends up punitively punishing a team for success. Your team wins a championship and the market value of each player rises dramatically. It's especially infuriating that they changed the CBA after we built our roster. Thanks Silver, you must hate the Nuggets. Not that it's personal, but if feels like it right now.. It also does seem like the media is loathe to deal with a Denver dynasty. I'm feeling a little shaken up about next year.
It's clear Calvin Booth was planning this for a long time, moving Christian Braun into the starting lineup to maintain salary cap flexibility despite the 3 max contracts. It had nothing to do with KCP performance in the playoffs. I think he's pre-positioning himself to let Aaron Gordon walk at the end of 25-26 season when his contract expires and he gets a max extension; and then they move Daron Holmes into the starting lineup. He loves his draft picks and thinks the right idea is to develop and rely on them; even though that is wasting Jokic prime years! Jokic, Murray and MPJ are the 3 key pieces they will keep long-term. I think KCP was more valuable than MPJ, but they couldn't move MPJ's contract anyway.
Murray's health along with his and MPJs consistency, long betting them on maxes over keeping Gordan next to Jokic..... I'm ready for Booth to get fired now...
I don't think Nuggets lose anything on the defensive side. I even think we may even be better on that side. But on offense I think we are also significantly weaker. Biggest issue for T-Rex Braun is his shooting. Spacing will be an issue in playoffs. AG is already not guarded on the perimeter, having another player that can be ignored by defenses is too much. Also, hopefully Braun defense isn't a mirage, which may be the case for players going from bench and being a surprise defender into starting role player where attackers are more familiar with him.
I think what could really make Westbrook be a. nice fit is to be the main piece of the bench lineup in terms of scoring. I think he has been in really awkward spots for his play style in the LA teams
Westbrook is also a beast in transition and running fastbreaks which fits the playing style of our 2nd unit of Strawther, Watson, and Holmes. The bench needs to play faster in general and capitalize on their athleticism. I think Westbrook can helps with that. That should be our bench identity. He's also a terrific passer and rebounder. He also hustles like crazy. That's the energy that has been missing ever since we lost Bruce Brown. As long as Westbrook is not playing iso ball or used as a spot up shooter, I actually think he would fit pretty well with the bench. Yea, he's definitely got to stop taking so many of those awkward mid-range shots. Those are momentum killers.

Look take it easy guys. Braun will slide into his position. Westbrook is a trip dub threat off the bench. Jokic is pushing for westbrook. I know Jokic doesnt know basketball like a youtube comments section. They let him leave because of Braun and KCP is cool and all but we didnt win a championship because of him. D A Ron gives us a big who can guard all 5. catching lobs from Joker and westbrook will give our 6th man pop. My guess Braun chips in 15ppg 7.5 rpg and 4apg shoots 41% from 3pt. Just chill its going to be ok!
Half of Jokic's touchdown passes were completed by KCP, the CB is extremely bad in the fast counter attack where we are 2 on 1, even 1 on 1. The completion rate of the CB near the hoop is 0, the bright spot is the dunk on Gobert with his left hand - a regular part of the season. As I wrote earlier, Denver will be at 44.45 wins, maybe even less. This with KCP, the whole locker room will suffer, Denver will not bring anyone more, that's obvious.
As long we have our core of Jokic, Murray, AG, and MPJ, the Nuggets are contenders. They're an automatic playoff team just because of those 4. Jokic alone took AG and MPJ to the playoffs with far inferior roster than the one we have at this very moment. Losing KCP doesn't mean we aren't contenders anymore. Now, championship contenders, that's a different story. The rest depends on the bench depth and how we can improve from the lost pieces.

I’ve been hammering for two years Mike needs to go because of his contract. Instead of fans being mad at Booth or Josh maybe their anger should be directed at that contract & Tim Connelly for giving it to him & how it’s now strangling the Nuggets.
KCP got torched by Dbook who takes jump shots and he just hit them and then he didn't that's called variance, if we are basing stuff on what happened against MIN, Murray should get the minimum contract...
Let's be honest man. KCP ain't worth 4 more mill than Malik Monk. Malik took less to stay in the place he likes. KCP money chased. He's made a 119 mill in his career. I'm not really gonna be that sad. Glad he came along for the Championship. But to screw our team for the future to keep him, not worth it. You wanna lose AG for KCP? Hell no.... KCP defense was nice. But guys he only averaged 10 points a game....thats what Reggie did. Man i will miss those 3pt shots. But in the long run this is right decision. I have second guessed the Kroenkes before. But we all know. The dudes know how to win.

Thank you! Finally a fan who has a reasonable response. AG is immensely more valuable & if they resigned KCP AG would have been gone. That’s a fact. KCP also disappeared against Ant in the playoffs; CB played MUCH better against him. Denver fans need to calm down.
Julian Strawther is another guy who believes defense is someone else’s job….. And why should Malone play Strawther, Pickett, etc. if they don’t make a positive impact in the minutes they are given. Same pattern as with Nnaji….
I never love Westbrook... I don't like player's that are like cow's who give you 50L of milk and than kick the bucket and waste everything! Something like WBurton was or similar as J Murray do sometimes or last playoff to be exact! But...in this moment and with all that happened,it would not be the worst thing and Denver definitely need player with skills that Russ have! So many it's not that bad to try that at least one year! Jokić can definitely play with him and that could look grate...i mean,we don't have to much to lose in this situation.
Lol...without KCP and net zero as the replacement, Denver will be a play in team next season...count on it. And does anyone in their right mind think garbage murray is worth 50 million a year?
I will miss him, but he was too inconsistent on D and offense. We have too much talent on this team to be worried about KCP leaving. Good riddance. Next man up mentality is weak with the DNVR guys. Orlando Overpayed, and KCP knows he has like one more good year left, so he needs to secure the bag. The biggest part has to be on Malone playing the younger guys he already stunned Zekes development, they need to go through painful progression. Malone might as well be Tom Thibbedue 2.0 the way he runs the starters into the ground.
I agree. Losing KCP sucks, but he would have to be replaced eventually. I do admit it's at least 1 year sooner than I would hope but it's bound to happen due to the CBA and having to rely on rookie scale/cheaper contracts. Not to mention, KCP is the oldest and most expendable player out of the starting 5. This is also one of the reasons Booth drafted Christian Braun, to prepare him to take over the starting shooting guard spot when the time comes. Overall, KCP is the 2 way player that Denver needs and as the team looks right now, it got worse. However, CB is taller, stronger, and more athletic than KCP. He's more equipped to guarding bigger guards and forward which is the trajectory of where most teams are heading now. Of course, you still have the Curry, Kyrie, Fox, and Ja Morant of the world who are shifty and too fast for most defenders to guard and stop completely. You can't have best of both worlds. You can only try to take away a part of their game and make them uncomfortable. And I believe CB is a more versatile defender than KCP at doing that. CB is also a better rebounder which helps on both ends of the floor. The only problem with CB is his shooting. It's unproven whether or not he can shoot at a high level consistently. Teams are gonna dare him to shoot and so perhaps the offensive game plan should also change with him being on the floor like maybe he can drive more and just attack the basket. The biggest problem is the bench. With Justin Holiday most likely not coming back, Malone got to start playing the young guys more seriously specifically Watson, Strawther, and Holmes. I really wish that Zeke could have worked out in Denver. He had all the making of a modern big at PF/C but everything changed when the team decided to play him exclusively at backup center position. That screwed over his development on offense along with his confidence. On top of that, the team changed his jumpshot form for no reason when it was working perfectly before. It might be a bit slower, but why mess with it if there was no sign of him struggling to find his shots. Zeke was a near 40% 3 pt shooter before everything went downhill. This is the classic case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Right now, the bench depth will determine how far the team can go in the playoffs. We still need a quality backup PG and center. That's a bigger concern for me than losing KCP.
Looking back a sign and trade for Caruso might have been the best deal Denver could have done maybe include Orlando in the deal Denver get Caruso Orlando get KCP Bulls get Issac or Suggs
Jokić will have to rise his 3p % to the level it was in 2023 and everything will be ok. As long as he is not tired, he will fill the gap for CB shooting.
Too many Denver fans blackpilling right now. Bunch of spoiled drama llamas. You act like we just lost Joker. 😂 KCP was mostly great, yes, but they have guys like CB & Jules who can now step up & show what they have. Jules in particular flashed talent last year for the few games he got, even defensively. This CBA punishes teams like Denver who try to keep a core together. It’s forced socialism. Forced parity. It is what it is. Booth may not be perfect but don’t blame him for what the owners ALL signed off on.
I’ll add that if you signed KCP this year you 💯 lose Aaron Gordon next year. That’s fact. And ask yourself: which player is more important? KCP literally disappeared against Ant in the playoffs & got manhandled by him. CB did much better. Get a grip Denver fans.
Why does LeBron only get blamed for not picking Jokic in All Star game not the other team captain? I know it’s bc it’s LeBron (Adam has a Wade & Kobe USA jersey so that makes sense he wouldn’t be biggest LeBron fan…along with the fact he’s been on the hated lakers the last 6yrs), but I never hear anyone else mention the other captain who didn’t pick him.😅😆😅. That doesn’t mean LeBron didn’t know Jokic wasn’t one of the best centers/players ever, he’s just not an All Star game player which means absolutely nothing at the end of the day as it’s a meaningless scrimmage with dunks and crazy 3s. LeBron has one of the best IQs for his sport as any athlete in any sport ever. I assure you he knows how ILLmatic God tier Jokic is and has for AT least 5yrs, but especially since 2020-21. Jokic & LeBron both know their IQs are among GOAT in NBA history with Magic Bird MJ Big O Jerry West Nash Luka Duncan Kareem Russell etc etc. Losing KCP hurts, but I like CB in starting lineup and Westbrook at only 4 mill per year off bench in Reggie Jackson mins. What hurts Nuggets was 2023 draft with 3 picks may of had 3/3 misses with Trayce Jackson Davis, GG Jackson, Leonard Miller, Toumani Camara all look to be better. It’s not easy to draft late 1st to mid 2nd, but when guys fall who are projected to be 20-28 are there you then it’s more on you to pass on them and “reach” on guys. It’s still too early to say for sure. 1 or 2 of those guys need to hit as at least role players (include Holmes too who I like better and he was at least projected in the 20-28 range).
The only picks I'm skeptical of Calvin Booth so far have been Pickett and Tyson just because 1) We have never really seen them play last season. 2) Both aren't the quickest guys in terms of lateral movement and ability to guard multiple positions so I feel like they both are still considered "project" players. 3) I feel like Calvin Booth did reached for these 2 players when he didn't have to. And was it really necessary to add 2 more rookies in the 2nd round when in reality 2nd round draft picks rarely work out and they take more time to develop. Hopefully they work but personally I would rather trade them because we still have 3 other young players to develop in Watson, Strawther, and Holmes coming off the bench.
No, they can not win without KCP and with this bench. This is the third big piece they have lost besides Bruce Brown and Jeff Green. It looks like they are in development mode and not "win now" mode. They suck in trades.
Can we PLEASE stop being such babies about the Nuggets. WE HAVE THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET AND 4 out of the 5 starters we WON A FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP WITH!!!! And maybe, just MAYBE KCP is NOT the player he WAS.
Maybe just maybe it was a fluke run and Murray isn't that good or consistent. Mpj chokes too much and Gordon doesn't know what to do off ball like Draymond. Not to mention everyone else improved while they kept falling backwards
Trapped by giving up draft picks for guys we didn’t use. McGee, Bryant, that one SG guy… all the seconds this year. Our GMs have squandered so many assets it’s nuts
Our GM continues to be the reincarnation of Jerry Krause, tearing down a championship roster just to build with his guys only to prove how much of a genius he is🙄 prepare to be known as a fluke champion, which I already felt.

Fudge…. but am I tripping or did we not see CB basically smother anybody he was on last year …he just gone have to work on his three point shooting
EXACTLY
still we have 1 less competent player, they are not bringing anybody close to KCP, so last season DEN was shallow, so now you substract one more player....what do you get, shallow team even shallower
@@UraStryoung dudes improve. Watson is prime for a leap. Straw there has lots of potential and we all expect to see him playing better. Pickett Tyson can see the court more this year and who knows? Also Nuggs might have a solid backup PF with Holmes
I hate what Booth is doing. Fire him!!!
Bro nobody cares about the nuggets y’all won 1 ring y’all was a one hit wonder anyways
@@LongLiveRed-qm5ge nobody cares about your hater trolling stfu
They've lost versatility, KCP is literarily the best in the league in some defensive aspects
I think what could really make Westbrook be a. nice fit is to be the main piece of the bench lineup in terms of scoring. I think he has been in really awkward spots for his play style in the LA teams
It could work- at least our bench would have an IDENTITY finally. Maybe, just maybe our culture makes him a smarter shot taker too
Westbrook is also a beast in transition and running fastbreaks which fits the playing style of our 2nd unit of Strawther, Watson, and Holmes. Those are momentum killers.
yea hes in that weird spot where you dont want the ball in his hand in a main unit, but on a bench unit he can destroy other teams imo
As long as he struggles to shoot, he won't be a fit ANYWHERE.
Kelvin Booth needs to go
Well
..darn
Sure KCP has flaws but we need to upgrade as a team as all others are getting better around us.....I don't see that happening so far
I hope everyone eats their words about KCP being the key to a championship. Gimme a break.
he's not a key, but is this team better or worse without him?...it's worse in two spots, KCP spot and whoever replaces CB...I don't see DEN having any addition better than Holiday level players

Denver Nuggets are playing dirty game of selling Jokic championship stories while in reality they are MILLKING Jokic prime for player development and selling new and old players for more money then they worth (because Jok make them look better then they are).Jokic manager or somebody need to explain this to him or his carrier is over.
Also if Russ is coming to play in DN i am stop watching for sure. Free JOKIC
There is nothing wrong CB playing the starting role. Its how the denver going to deal with zeke and possible sign players as support.
Nobody wants zeke. He's trash with a large contract.
Cb terrible shooter
@@nickchillwind yea we know. We aint casual😅 but its not like he cant improve it. His defense is good, good finisher at the rim. What he lacks is his 3pts shooting. He needs to be at 38-40% with atleast 300 3PA.
If next year be same as this , I think that Nikola Jokic need to leave Denver.
😂 he’s signed through 2028 I believe.
please tell me you’re being sarcastic
Half of Jokic's touchdown passes were completed by KCP, the CB is extremely bad in the fast counter attack where we are 2 on 1, even 1 on 1. The completion rate of the CB near the hoop is 0, the bright spot is the dunk on Gobert with his left hand - a regular part of the season. As I wrote earlier, Denver will be at 44.45 wins, maybe even less. This with KCP, the whole locker room will suffer, Denver will not bring anyone more, that's obvious.
They still have Julian Strawther, he is good shooter, maybe they count on him.
I looked and read everything about Denver and nobody is talking about Westrbook, they are talking about Clay and that Denver is interested.
Nuggets are wasting Jokic and Jamal prime and they need to wake up cos aint no funny at this point!
NO THEY ARE FUCKING NOT. we lose KCP and you think we aren’t contending?! Jokic IS the system
Murray is doing the wastin, he was the reason no1 they didn't win in 2022 and 2024

Good show. I'm going to miss KCP, but this CBA is full of poison pills.
We just lost our defense on the perimeter. Need someone to step up.
If CB can work on his offensive game. That would be great..
I do love CB
ITS just, Denver has to upgrade their bench. It’s pretty cut and dry.
We need a backup C. Not named Deandre.
And a backup PG to run the bench… i mean. Am i wrong? Please tell me if i am…

KCP was a great 5th starter at $15 but not worth >$20
I wrote a possible hit song weeks ago and im offering co-writing credit: Trade Mpj’s worthless ass! (Sounds like a country song.) Who’s with me?😂
I’ve been hammering for two years Mike needs to go because of his contract. Instead of fans being mad at Booth or Josh maybe their anger should be directed at that contract & Tim Connelly for giving it to him & how it’s now strangling the Nuggets.
I would have traded MPJ awhile ago. And it's crazy no one is talking about it. He's not that great.

Supposedly it was more like 66mil vs 60mil or something close like that. Not double.

Trade MPJ !!!!
Lol...without KCP and net zero as the replacement, Denver will be a play in team next season...count on it. And does anyone in their right mind think garbage murray is worth 50 million a year?
trade the 2031 draft pick for Bruce Brown!
DON'T SEE NUGGETS IN FUTURE PLAYOFFS AND PLAYERS THEY ARE GETTING ARE NOT STARTERS
As a laker fan please get Russ please it will make me feel less said about my own trash ass team
KCP really apparently doesn’t wanna win anymore. His loss.
Orlando is on the way up. Check their record last year

Denver clearly doesn't want to win. Stop all bs it's simple as that
Looking back a sign and trade for Caruso might have been the best deal Denver could have done maybe include Orlando in the deal
Denver get Caruso
Orlando get KCP
Bulls get Issac or Suggs
Jokić will have to rise his 3p % to the level it was in 2023 and everything will be ok. As long as he is not tired, he will fill the gap for CB shooting.
