Every other fishing channel : "its rude to ask were i go fishing " Alan: " so this is were we are fishing, here are the coordinates and this is the bait and rig i use...." Fishingmad absolute legendary channel!!!!
yeah spot on, plenty of channels that treat every location like it's top secret and only seem to mention lure types when they're paid to promote them. Fair enough to keep some spots to yourself but beginners always appreciate getting at least a rough area to check out and how to avoid getting a $20 soft plastic stuck in rocks on first cast
Thanks !! Yeah I'm working on that at the moment, next week will be exactly that a land based one with plastics and some cracking catches, and I've been fishing from some local piers this past 2 weeks unfortunately the weather has been rubbish which has made filming almost impossible.
Thanks you so much Allen, this is exactly the sort of fishing I would do, on me yak and with softplastics and bait! I’ve always wanted to go to port Phillip bay! Keep up the amazing work! Tight lines bro 🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣
that was awesome Alan, allmost felt like i was there in the yak, just a bit warmer in my den ha ha ha , thanks for sharing, im out in a few day when this weather in Adealide frees up so i can get out ,yep frezzing here too been north north west winds for weeks now just not good for us ,lookforward to your next vid
Thanks 👍 I'm really glad you enjoyed it as if you were there. Yeah the weather in both Melb and Adelaide has been very average the last few weeks and cold too. Lets hope we can all get out again soon.
Wow that’s crazy mate I can’t get the boat on the Ute fast enough might be cold but fishing like that is what dreams are made of cheers Allen and happy winter fishing
May I recommend a proven recipe to fully appreciate an Australian salmon? Bleed it immediately and put it in ice, then once back home fillet it straight away (skin off) and remove the dark red strip of meat that runs along the side of the fillet. Cut the fillets into fish fingers, coat them first in flour, then egg and finally bread crumbs. 7 minutes in the air frier at 200C, then enjoy them dipped into an emulsion of EV olive oil, lemon, salt and finely chopped parsley (just mix quickly all ingredients in a bowl with a fork). The end result is delicious and you would be hard pressed to figure out it's a salmon and not another more sought after fish.
Thats awesome, Well done. They seem to be around in big numbers and good size ones all over the bay at the moment. Funny enough they love that midday bite
They are chill cheaters, I have been using them with a pair of crocs now for the last 12 months. They are great as you don't get wet when you launch and should you happen to fall in they don't fill up with water like boots or shoes. I had to order mine online, I believe some Australian distributors are now looking into making them locally
Yes, I got mine from Roof Racks Galore. Amazing, but very expensive I have chatted with them about price. You can see a lot more details about them here fishingmad.com.au/review/dropracks-sliding-roof-racks-review
Nice one Alan, gotta love those epic sessions! Was this filmed before all the rain recently? The water is nice and clear there. I went out fishing on Monday and it was no where near as good as that.
Yes 100% working on it, next week's episode will be a land-based episode and the plan is to hit some of those spots you mentioned, whilst the water temp is peak cold those spots can be very slow so it may be a work in progress.
Military, was so strange at one point they were circling just above us but really close to ground level, we thought there must have been an incident not far from us, but when we came back to shore it looked like they were doing training drills and emergency landings. Was fascinating being right under it
@@fishingmad yeah I thought it was military with the steep climb on takeoff a ambulance helicopter wouldn’t do that , military planes and helicopters are incredible machines to watch in action.
@@fishingmad yep last year the town of Eugowra near where I live got flooded and those choppers came out for flood rescues and they were really incredible to see flying around and saving lives at the same time.
Yeah the winds have been so frustrating the last 2-3 weeks. I'm usually on the water 3-4 times a week, but its been tough to hit the water this month. Been hitting the water first light which has been cold as and off by 10am when the winds are up. Been super frustrating that's for sure.

Sick video Alan, i was wondering what the two rod and reels were, I think one is a g loomis and a twin power, but was unsure about the other combo. Thanks
Thanks its much appreciated. Yeah these are 2 unbelievable high end combos, maybe my fav combos which I use in the bay. G Loomis NRX+ NRR paired with a Twin power XD and a G Loomis Conquest paired with a Twin Power FD.
@@fishingmadThats awesome man , i hope one day i can get my hands on gear like that, but for now ill gave to stick to my vanford and zodias, still great combos. Have you got any recommendations for any combos in the 500-650 dollar range? Thanks
Nothing wrong with the Zodias/Vanford combo that's what I have sued for many years. Lately I've been using an Expride and Vanford combo and that is so good arguably my favourite for the price point. The new Vanfords will be available soon, so you can pick up the current models for a bargain soon as they will be clearance, but if you can get an Expride 4-8lb spin rod on sale you won't go wrong they are amazing. Otherwise there are some great cheaper options
Nah, no scent used in this episode, usually if the bite is really quit ill use some s-factor or gulp plastics but when they are on like this scent wont be needed
Its a really tough question because in my experience ( and I've tested so many different yaks ) is the cheaper entry level ones really lack in stability and features. We have seen many mid market yaks around the $1,000 mark with lots of clever marketing but they just haven't been great ( poor stability, build quality etc ). My best advice is always to wait and save a bit more for something stable ( as it might save your life ) and something that will last. Follow places like marketplace and see if you can find something like a compass or an outback for a bargain price.
The NRX+ rods are amazing. I waited and got the new NRX+ NRR model which is shorter at 6"10 and lighter at 2-5kg as the other ones are a tad heavy for my liking in the bay. Its an amazing rod for the bay. They are expensive but I use it all the time, perfect for snapper and salmon
@@fishingmad awesome thanks for the detailed feedback. I come from a fly fishing background so Gloomis has always been top notch stuff in my eyes. I was never sure about their spinning rods though. I also prefer the lighter rods so might have one of these in my future…

Thanks for going over your technique’s. Keep having fun on your winter fishing grounds. Heat of summer here in the states!
Thank you, I cant wait for Summer, its a tough slog here right now. Thanks for watching, which part of the states. I watch so much US sports ??
Awesome! Got a good sized salmon off the altona boat ramp breakwater on Monday (NW wind, low tide, around midday) always good fish out there somewhere
Thats awesome, Well done. They seem to be around in big numbers and good size ones all over the bay at the moment. Funny enough they love that midday bite
keep up the good work love watching all of your videos
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and yes 100% I've got some great content on the way.
Cheers Al , I’ll do some searching 🍻
Onya Al , another great clip of PPB ! I like those water proof boots your wearing Al , where did you buy them from ?

Perfect fish for Thai fish cakes!
Yeah, some of my mates love catching them to take home for a feed. I gotta learn how to cook them

was it back in May, it has been blowing hard for the last couple months
This was 9 days ago recorded on Sunday 14th so very recent and I've caught plenty more in the area since both on the yak and land based
