I had NS-300 with two bass drivers, crossover at 2000Hz... They sound amazing! The tweeter made of silk, bass is PMD (Polymer-injected Mica Diaphragm), lighter than polypropylene but harder. If anyone get a chance, buy them!
@@Brascofarian Me too. Twitters were dead but are now at very skilled guy who can repair them hopefully. So far I have replaced them with some other twitters and they still sound amazing, can't wait to listen to them fully repaired !
This version looks very 2001. I think a used pair of Boston Acoustics CR8 may be better. Cant even begin to tell with far-field sound recording and non-reference quality source and amps. Thank you for taking these apart as it is always "FUN" to see whats behind the curtain, ...er ...Grill. Cheers! - Sandy
@@chicagomen01 In the 1981 catalog I only find "NS-100M" however that's an entirely different design (a 3-way). I would be really suprised if those were designed any time before 1990.
@@westelaudio943 According to the Yamaha Speaker history on their website, the introduction and first use of their translucent mica inject polypropylene cone was in 1988, with the NS-1. The NS-100M studio monitor was introduced in 1980 - 81. There may have been a mix-up.
Hi, I have a question about the Technics sb-f2mk2. Is it possible to let the cables end in an AUX? i would like to connect them to my phone in some way. Or maybe you can give me your e-mail adress and I can explain my problem better.
Yamaha makes good speakers considering their prices, but I am wandering why they don't try their hands at some more high quality speakers like Sony and Technics do?
Yamaha made top rated NS-1000M and in the same series 1000,2000 and 10000. All were state of the art speakers and the first to use beryllium mids and tweeters for spectacular accuracy. Now they have the NS-3000 and 5000 in the same league using gryphon.
I subscribe to channels that have when I go and I look at their see what other channels they have support and evidently your channel doesn't support any other Channels cuz I went into your call me area and I want to look at the sea if you support any other channels and you don't and that's probably why you don't get too many people subscribing to your Channel cuz when you don't support other channels that's just being selfish supposed to be a community and the community helps each other someone you support another Channel the other channel will support you and that's how your channel grows I'm happy that many people are selfish
Total crap crossover! Too cheap to run a pcb crossover smh.... Plastic cover over the magnets trying to make it look bigger is an old trick. This vid does prove one thing though, you can get decent sound on the cheap! Lol
You're wrong. Point to point wiring is way better audio quality than a pcb. Also this has high quality air coil inductors, normally only found in more expensive speakers. Only the capacitors are not that great but usual for the price range.
I'm listening to this on a pair of Yamaha NS-200 just like the NS-100 but the floor standing version.

I just bought a pair recently. I'm no audiophile, but I have been enjoying how detailed they are.
I had NS-300 speakers, they were very musical and with neutral sound.

Are you sure they are from 81? They look so out of place for that, everything about them screams 90s.

They do. Check out the NS-5000.

That is one cheap frequency crossover
