You may call them excuses, however, they are potential factors (weather clouds or lack thereof). External factors as such which may pose a detriment to an organisation are things a coach would be tactful in recognising, then take steps to minimising their impact. Furthermore, a critical reassessment, or to lambaste players in regards to the way they played is likely not a wise course of action hours after being knocked out in such a fashion. If need be, it is done privately, not tossed to the hands of grubby journalists. And in last, he acknowledged shortcomings other than the Austrian players's inability to cope with the scalding weather and never denied Turkey's victory. His job is to make a most efficient use of available resources, bearing an assumed motivation to safeguard that job, not that in context of a pundit but *head coach of the Austrian National Football Team*, so frankly, I have not the slightest clue what the idol of a manager you had conceived in your head is supposed to say, exalt Turkey for their excellent brand of football and superior tactics? Perhaps a turkish fan can only see a turkish perspective?

People often forget that when Turkey performs, they really shine. We saw it in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2008 - it’s part of their football heritage. It’s in their blood, and this generation is very young too. When the Turks show up, they give their best. They deserve the game.

As a Turk First time I see a Germanic nation cries after a defeat))) ıt is funny that he blamed weather. Turkey is not as rainy as Austria. So rainy weather was advantage to Austrians. Turkey used a different strategy and won. In football playing the good game and passing doesn't count a score. So as long as you couldn't score more than opponent no need to blame weather fans goal keeper and luck. If Turkey has better goal keeper that saves the match it also makes Turkey better team.

Your still basis your results on a 6-1 friendly defeat. You really need to look at your history Turkey belted Austria in the 2002 World Cup playoffs 6-0, Austria was begging Turkey not to score anymore. The 6-1 defeat is just a friendly game, and in fact Austria pushed, but you didn't dominate the game. I think you now need to show some respect to turkey.

    • @hustlehustlehustle

He pointed out that they had fewer shots at goal when they beat Turkey 6:1 than in this game. The translation was a bit poor.
You guys need to stop talking about a lack of respect, that was not the case. Austria defended two corners poorly and didn't score some of the great chances they had, other than that, they dominated the game. It wasn't Austria's best performance, but no one in their right mind can say Turkey was the better team over 90 minutes. This worked like heaven and not very talented players of Austria realized team play is not the only solution- sometimes you need personal effort and development. Austrians threw dozens of cups to Arda Güler- a 19 year old great player just right before second goal of Turkey. It is just weird that all you guys were thinking Austria will win this so easily. They lost 13 official games of last 15 matches we played. They basically can not win against Turkey since 35 years.

We hadn't won a match against the Dutch in 30 years either, yet we won in the group stage. This team has gone through an enormous development in the last two years.
Nobody said it was going to be easy, but Austria was, for good reasons, universally considered favorites.
The stats confirm exactly what I said, from shots, to possession, to expected goals etc. Congratulations to Turkey for being extremely efficient and kudos to Mert for that excellent save, but if you insist that the Turks was the better team throughout the game, you are a r3t4rd and you probably should remove your dad's yarak from blocking your eyesight.

Oh, Ralf Rangnick, our unshakeable hero of excuses! That was yet another appearance par excellence after the game against Turkey. He might as well have said, "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts!"
The truth is, you lost, and with a precision that would make even the best satirists green with envy. Rangnick presents himself here as the shining victor, even though one might almost expect him to take home a medal for being the best loser. 😂
Let's face it: Turkey played almost with their second team. You'd almost think they had rounded up a few players off the street to make it a bit fairer. But even that couldn't save our brave mountain dwellers. Austria, the land of meadows and cows, really drew the short straw.
You were lucky it started to rain; otherwise, things could have turned out even worse. The Turkish players might have begun their summer holidays with a leisurely stroll through the Austrian defense.
And what about the future? Well, we'll see if the mountain farmers actually make it to the World Cup. Maybe they'll find a miracle cure for defensive blunders and bad luck in attack. 😊
But don't worry, you don't have far to go home. A bit of alpine glow and schnitzel await you. Console yourselves with the fact that at least the landscape is beautiful. Until next time, Ralf!

Two corner kicks? One of which took three deflections? Austria had zero other saves from their keeper. He literally didn’t have to make a save. Austria were by far the better team in this game. But Turkiye did what they had to with maximum effort, and won. That’s the sport sometimes.

If you constantly pressured the defense, you would leave gaps at the back. Yes, maybe Austria goalkeeper didn't save much but also looked at how many critical attacks made by Turkish team as soon as they passed the midfield. After second pass they opened the game to the wings and set the game from there; made Austria team to run back and forth. The only reason they did not have enough shots in my opinion is they are very young and inexperienced. If any other teams could bring the ball in same places, they would have easily scored 6 goals against Austria today.

It is not a surprise that Rangnick has always been a sore loser his entire managerial career, and there are some cases why he is the way he is, when he loses, he hardly ever gives his opponents any credit, he often blames conditions for his teams losing, he criticises his opponents' style of play (example, the Schalke 04 vs Leipzig game in the 2017-18 season), he even yanked his silver medal after losing the DFB Pokal against Bayern München in 2018-19 season, if you ask any german-speaking fan, they will tell the reasons, because when reading comments in german, they refer to him as *"Schlechter Verlierer"* which means sore/ bad loser in german, in conclusion, he is a manager for underdog teams, but his attitude after losing makes him unlikable, so do not be very surprised of his press conferences after losing.
