- Instructional video on how to in install the Burgman Stop Diesel Sound repair Kit. (English Version) uploaded with permission of Mirek Iwaniuk.
Warning - This is not a Suzuki Authorized repair and probably voids all possible Warranty.
This Repair kit is registered Patented design owned and manufactured by Mirek Iwaniuk of Poland. Please watch his video first, and then use this video for English Language clarification as needed. This repair applies to the 2002 to 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650 ONLY!
Suzuki redesigned primary starter input drive in 2007. If your Burgman in a 2007 and later and is rattling at idle, its may be a low oil pressure, bearing, cam chain tensioner or low idle speed issue. Proper idle speed for Burgman 650 is 1200rpm +/- 100 rpm.
Please ask any questions in English here. If I can't answer them, I will contact Mirek through translator for the answers, and I will repost them in English here. This repair kit can be purchased from Ebay for $225 free shipping. Its listed under the heading "Suzuki Burgman 650 Stop Diesel Sound".
Merik Iwaniuk is known as CzarnyMirek on RUclips and Ebay.
I got one of the first burger delivered to Canada and mine sounded like the diesel. So having a sense of humor i had a silver decal made up in the same fount as the one on the back of the bike that said DIESEL. I put it on the gas cap door and it was a hoot. People asked if it was a diesel and I said yes and would just start it and when they heard it they thought it was. I ran into the owner of the dealer I got it from one night and he asked me to PLEASE take the decal off as folks were going to the dealer wanting to buy the diesel version of the burger. When he told them there was no diesel version they would tell him they had met a guy that had one and even heard it run. It was great fun until I sold it and moved to the Caribbean. So don't fix it have fun with it. It's only at a idle
Glad I could help George. Don't forget to fully warm the engine and then re-adjust the idle speed to 1200 rpm. Too low an idle will results in low engine oil pressure which can cause noisy cam tensioners as well.
does this problem also cause loss of power in the bike as well?
No, it does not.
Hey,thanks for all the trouble you go to to help others, much appreciated.
Finally got around to installing the diesel rattle fix on my Burgman. Worked like a charm. Thanks sbs9026
Glad to hear you had great success.
The device just locks together primary gear with springs, which create a kind of amortiser, making transmision working softer and lowering forces at the gears. Typical in motorcycle clutch baskets. The proper solution is not to lock, but create more spring tension e.g. by more preload on springs. Locking can possibly create higher forces on gear specially under high loads, impacts then rapid wear or damage. Consider this when instaling device.
Thanks... Our install went easy, just like the video.... Wish you had included how to remove the plastic earring... But with some frustration learning how to do it, once done the Bergman is no longer making that diesel sound at idle.
Good job... Thanks again
That should say faring
In glad to hear that everything worked out for you. Happy Riding. 😃
Merrick has well over 80, 000Km now on his Black 2003 model shown in the video without any issues. He recently did a road trip on it over 5000Km up into Eastern Russia and back. A long hard ride - no issues other then worn out Tires.
Don't forget to also adjust your idle speed to 1100 to 1200 rpm. Yes idle speed is adjustable on all Skywave/Burgman 650 2001 through 2006. Low idle speed will result in cam chain rattle at idle as well. Check that first before buying this repair kit.
Great job. What a difference!
Congratulations. Excellent tutorial.
I appreciate that.
Great work. Nice demo. Hopefully won’t ever need to do it, but nice to know how if the time comes.
Merrick will only have the repair kits on EBay when he has the Repair Shafts available. He makes the adaptor shafts himself on his own Milling Machine. He is a Mechanic and Machinist in Poland. So if you don't see the repair kits for sale on eBay right now, keep checking back. Thank you.
Thanks for Sharing your knowlegde!
The #1 question I get is why doesn't Suzuki know about this fix & or why don't "they" fix it this way? Well they do know about it, that's why they changed the transmission design in 2007. but their fix for this at the dealership level is to remove and rebuild the CVT trans gears with 2007 and later components. The cost of that repair is upwards of $2000. Most people after hearing this elect to trade in and get a new bike. So it sells bikes as well as allowing them to give you close to nothing for your trade with the noisy trans.Win/Win for them. So with this kit, you can fix it yourself for $225 and 60 min of time and then ride on... You do the math on that one for yourself. .
Por favor nha burgman 2006 teny um barulha na parte de cvt cre sabe kuale poblema
Thank you i just bought a Burgman the bike runs fine but i hate this noise. Thanks East smeazy apple peazy!!!
George - make sure you adjust your Idle speed to 1100-1200 rpm warm as well.
Thanks for the info.
Show de bola foi uma muito produtiva obrigado.
HI. I HAVE UNPORBLEMA WITH MY SIZUKI BURGMAN 650 OF 2004.Ç
I HAVE THE CVT BROKEN BUT I CAN DO IT SECONDHAND. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHERE THE CVT FITTES THE TEETH ARE ALSO IN BAD CONDITION. IN THE WORKSHOP I HAVE SEEN THIS VIDEO AND HANDICHO WHERE YOU CAN GET THE PIECE THAT SHOWS TO AVOID OPENING THE ENGINE.
THANK YOU FOR COPARTIR.
Great work done but my problem is how do I get it to bye?
Just want to let everyone know that a impact driver is necessary when doing this. I started to fix mine but had to put it off until I get an impact gun. The gears keep spinning and no way to stop them.
Can this cause engine to run high before shifting and overheating?
what will happen if you dont fix it... is it just the sound or will it stop running?
What is the size of the screw that you wear to extract the lever? The answer is correct
I Have 2004 with similar noise but have been told it is valves. 20,000 miles? How can you tell which noise is which?
I got a 2005 Burgman 650. I need to remove that CVT bolt to fix my broken belt, but I can't get it loose. It is so tight that a 300nm impact wrench can't losen it up. Does anyone have suggestions to get it out?
You purchase this part off Ebay for $225 US dollars.
Look it up under the words: "Burgman 650 stop diesel sound".
Can't believe how short the demo was of how it sounded after the work, maybe about 3 seconds, why?
Memory card in camera filled up, what can I say? Lol
What’s the purpose of this gear and bolt? My friends bolt broke thru the cover and was rattling around. Still starts and runs but wondering what it’s for because he’s been riding it like this for a while. His is a 2006 Burgman. Mine is a 2004 but I haven’t had any issues with mine yet.
Where can you buy this kit today into 2023?
Hi - great video. The previous owner of my K3 (an engineer who was very complimentary about the quality of this kit) fitted Mirek's kit, and it now has over 31,000 miles and runs like a top. However, what torque setting should this be set at?
As your can see in video - I didn't torque it. I used impact wrench and hammered it hard. So let's say 80 to 100 ft lbs.
Do you think I am safe considering a 2018 model?
Thanks.
There is a wire under the engine leading to something with 2 small bolts. This leaks oil. Does it have an o-ring and if I remove said part will the engine oil spill out.
I put this adapter into place last night and the dieseling sound is actually worse. I am going to remove it when I get home from work and I am pretty sure I know which step wasn't done right. When you put the adapter in place - I now believe that I did not set it in far enough. I didn't use the 24mm bolt to push it back there. I am going to remove it and put it back in. My question - is it possible to put in in too far and what will tell me it is in far enough?
Wendy - watch the video closely, the shaft will go in and seat. You have to rotate the rear wheel back and forth while inserting the shaft to get the splines to line up properly. Then use bolt and hammer to seat the shaft. Also make sure your idle speed is 1100 to 1200 rpm, at a slower idle speed you will also get some cam chain rattle on the early Burgy 650's.
After install - take the Burgy out for a ride, put trans in manual mode, shift into 2 gear and increase the rpm to 4500 and hold it there for 30 seconds while riding. This will take the slack out of cam chain and allow chain slack adjuster to ratchet out a click or two. All Burgy owners should do this every 5000 miles or so.
Is suzuki engines reliable?
Hello, i don't find the repair kit on ebay. could you tell me how to contact the saler ? Richard.
Please good day am West African Ghana 🇬🇭. I have the same bike and I don't know have to get that gear. Please can will help me get it?
Can l still order this ?
I wondered if there was an English version of this fix. I'm planning to buy a 2003 in the near future and if it sounds like yours did that will be fixed before I but it.
Hola saludos tengo una Bourman y me hace ese ruido donde puedo conseguir la pieza me podrías mandar un enlace gracias
Oh thanks you so much . And I have an other question. Since your repair, the problems about the sound, the noise comes back or not ??
No, 5 years later and still trouble free. The noise has not returned.
very helpful ,and interesting.have you any idea what the cost is for replacement parts? thank you
Yes - $225 US dollars in Ebay.
Just search "Burgman 650 stop diesel sound".
I have a 2007 Suzuki Burgman 650 and it makes the exact same noise. A bike mechanic told me that suzuki's fix for the 2007 used a different type of material to design the adapter shaft which basically causes the same diesel noise problem and that I should still order Iwaniuk's shaft to correct the problem. Is this true?
How can i find a repair kit??
can i just place a new original one, is the rattle gone or not??
I have suzuki burgman 650 every time well I’m driving the scooter it it slows me down and it stops me a little bit well I’m not touching a break well I’m bout to come up to the light it’s slow me down make it feel like I’m stopping what can that be
Saludos donde puedo conseguir el kit
Please. I have some problems with my burgman 650. I would like to know where can i buy the same tool CVT . Thanks you.
is this part still available from Poland. I have the same problem on a 2004 machine.
How or where can I get one of these kits please
Donde consigo ese kit?
He recommend the Locktite bleu? what strength ? low, medium, high ? 🙄🙄🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂ yeh right, i know enough
Hi...I can not find it anywhere...can you pass me the E-Bay link? Thankyou.
What is the OEM part number of this kit please ?
There is no OEM part number for this part. It's an aftermarket repair part made by a guy in Poland who figured out the problem and figured out how to fix it himself without taking apart the transmission. Taking apart the transmission is how the Suzuki dealership fixes it at a very high repair cost.
Hi . I see that your video is from a while ago , I have a 2005 Bergman that sounds just like yours . May I as if you keep in contact with Mirek lwaniuk. If can , would you put his contact details where. Myself and others may also contact him , because of said noise , that makes a Bergman sound like a diesel. Yours R M EHLENBACH . Can contact through f/b if pleased you
Hi hawe samone link to this company as can delivery this kit?
Please Can you send me the link. Regards
I talked with Merrik this morning. He is still selling these on Ebay in Poland. You can still buy them. Ebay will factor the exchange currency rate when you purchase.

No he does not.
Can have a burgman 400cc the same problem ?
No, the 400 model does not have this issue. This is only an issue with 2002-2006 Skywave/Burgman 650 models only.
@@sbs9026 ok, do you know what it could be?
Hello can i buy this kit without the principal bolt?
Hey,
During the trip, I felt vibrations from the rear wheel and then gear noises ... after two minutes I stopped at a traffic light and I drove on and gear stuck on the first gear and in no way puts out ... Does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how to fix it?
Shift Servo has failed. You can find a video on how to replace this on RUclips. Buy the replacement Servo aftermarket. The dealer price will scare you to death.
Hello, I bought since 2 years ago your kit, but, the sound comes back. Can I buy I new kit ? Or I should change my CVT?
Inès Baghdad, check your idle speed. Needs to be somewhere between 1050-1200 rpm, less then 1000 rpm you will hear some cam chain rattle. Check and see if that isn't your noise issue?
Hello,my burgman do the same whistle that i can ear in this video,i'm not talking about the diesel one,but the whistle like a turbo that goes louder if i give gas...somebody tell me is the CVT and is a normal sound but i want ask to you...
Yes - perfectly normal sound. The CVT makes a Whinning Whistle kind of sound.
Hello. Is the KIT still available? I cant find on ebay....
I have a 03 an650 has the same diesel sound, I found Mirek lwaniuk sight and want to buy repair kit from him, don't quit understand his ad, ad states make sure it's K3 or K4 model, call me stupid, But! what does that mean does K3 mean 2003 or does it mean something eles. Thanks
Michael Levi, yes K3 model will cover 2003 model year.
His repair kit will work with your 2003 AN650.
Hi do mind to send the address to buy one kit thanks
I have a question. What does your temp gauge sit on? That is how many bars are showing on the temp gauge after it warms up completely?
3 bars during summer.
Ok that’s what mine sits on. I was just wanting to make sure it wasn’t running hotter than normal.
Oh by the way your Burgman and mine are the same color blue .
PLEASE!!!! So many peoplel say I got it, or get it in Polizh ebay, realize most people do "NOT" speak Polish so instead of saying that "OFFER THE LINK TO THE STORE" since it does not show on regular eBay.
POR FAVOR: OFRESCAN "LINK" a la tienda de ebay, la mayoria de gente "NO" habla polaco asi que mejor OFRESCAN el domicilio electronico URL de la tienda.

How is it possible to help me i am from iraq and there is no one in this country i can send one to me with all the accessories and i will ship from you and i will send you all costs thank you please reply
why can't Suzuki Corp. Japan make it available to frustrated Burgman 650 owners.
Because Suzuki of Japan does not make this repair part. A mechanic/ machinist in Poland makes this repair part. Usually available for purchase on Ebay.
Just like the "Doohickey" repair on the Kawasaki KLR650. Kawasaki motorcycle company of Japan doesn't make a repair part to fix that problem, a guy named Eagle Mike in Decatur Indiana makes the repair parts and sells them online. Just like this repair part. A smart guy figured out the problem and fixed it himself, now he makes money selling that repair part online.
Tell me , guy wants to sell me a 650 says it due for drive belt ? Could the transmission be on the way out , and if so how much are they ??
Join the FB Group "Maxi- Scooter Owners of America". There are many members who've done a replacement transmission on a Burg 650.
How to buy it from Amazon sbs9026
What is the name of the repair kit,wr need a real name to look it up online plz.thanks
"Burgman 650 stop diesel sound repair kit". Merrick only lists these kits on eBay when he has the shafts available. He is a Machinist in Poland and he makes the repair shafts himself. So if it's not currently listed on eBay, it's because he hasn't made any new ones yet. Keep checking because eventually he will make more of them.
@@sbs9026 looked on Ebay.nothing
One year later, still nothing. Perhaps he has retired, or worse
Друже привет ! Где такой приобрести и сколько стоимость ?
searching ebay and he doesn't seem to be selling the kits anymore. Is there another option out there?
I don't believe there is? I just sent Merrick an email, I'll let you know what he says.
Still nothing
Dear sbs9026, I have a question. I won’t be using an impact gun to loosen or tighten the bolt back on mine, instead I’ll use a torque wrench. What should I torque it to?
I'd say at least 75 ft lbs.
Ray, since these repair kits don't seem to be available on Ebay anymore, what web site did you buy yours? Please post a link.
It was from Merrick on eBay. Or at least I think it was from him. It was $207 in US dollars . Thanks for the info. I know the original primary shaft bolt ( the one you discard) is torqued to 65.5 ft lbs so that’s what I’ll torque the new one to.
Sbs9026, I’m not sure how to post a link on here but if you want to text me at +12762195460 I’ll be glad to share it from eBay with you. That goes for anyone that wants the link.
@@rjb5382 I just bought one and received it last week. Go to ebay and serach it. then send him a message on the closed add. he will send you a link to a polish ebay or something where you can pay through paypal. I received mine just fine.
hello, how can i by one to my burgman? i'm from Portugal
Do they have Ebay in Portugal?
Hi mate, what's the mileage on the bike?
They'll start to rattle or sound like a Diesel as early as 10,000 miles. My bike had just over 10,000 at the time of repair.
What mileage is this noise starting at?.....I'm on the market for a 650
Can start as early as 10,000 miles.
