Well, you mean "I can't believe he only won one and Jason Alexander didn't win any at all" Cuz come on. Jerry was the real talent. The guy is a comedic genius who is idolized by his peers.
With all the respect to Jerry Seinfeld, but it's a little unfair the fact he won an award and Jason Alexander didn't. Don't get me wrong, I love Jerry's work,he's one of my favorite stand up comedians ever, and I thank him very much to create Seinfeld with Larry David. But as an actor,he's not so good. It worked on Seinfeld, but he was playing himself,so wasn't very hard to him.And despite the series calls "Seinfeld", I would say Jerry is my least favorite main character of the show(I love him,but Elaine,Kramer and George were funnier than him). What Jason Alexander did with George Constanza was unbelievable and one of the best performances in a comedy series I've ever seen. And because of that,George became my favorite character of the series, and one of the main reasons I enjoyed to watch Seinfeld. Anyway, so because all of this,I think Jason deserved more the awards than Jerry.
"Don't let people catch you acting!" - Spencer Tracy. How many of the greats I've heard say or read about who said the exact same thing. Hence Seinfeld essentially "acted" naturally and none of the stories were contrived or just "jokey" like so many sit coms are. Comedy IS a serious business and it's always been more difficult to make people laugh than make them cry and get angry.
Considering the year, 1994, there is some backstory here. Warren Littlefield of NBC said in an interview that with the loss of the huge hits the Cosby show and Cheers, NBC was struggling. Then Seinfeld became a massive success in its 4th-5th seasons around that time, and practically saved the network ratings. Jerry said that Littlefield was so appreciative, he actually came to cook breakfast for the entire Seinfeld crew on set. I’m pretty sure this award in 1994 was “engineered” to say thank you Jerry. Yes, Alexander was the better actor, but Seinfeld himself was the one getting the *ahem* appreciation award
At this point in US sitcom history, it would have been insane to have given this to anyone else. Plus, even in a short version, Jerry acceptance speeches do not disappoint.
First of all, who are you to tell? Secondly, he did act pretty well in several scenes. Proves you haven't really watched Seinfeld that much, if at all.
@Matias Martinez Sure...he's no Nicholson but if he was so terrible then the show would never have lasted, become a cultural phenomenon, and he wouldn't be worth almost a billion dollars. People talk like he did little more than stand around watching the others. He played the straight man perfectly which helped make them shine even more. That said, without a doubt Jason Alexander deserved awards out the wazzoo. As great as Kelsey Grammar was as Frazier, Alexander as George was just as good and deserved at least 2 or 3 Emmys.
michael richards won primetime emmy for outstanding support actor (1993-94, 1997) and Screen actors award for outstanding support actor by an ensemble (1995, 1997-98). Several nominations of other awards for same show. jason alexander won 1995 screen actors guild award. Several nominations of other awards of same show.
Will Smith was so young here. He was nominated for Fresh Prince of bel air. I'm surprised he wasn't nominated here for Six degrees of Separation film his first dramatic performances. His gay role but Tom Hanks gay role Philadelphia fim he won. But Will's co star from Six degrees of Separation film the older lady Will had a crush on while he was doing method acting during the film she was nominated at the academy awards but she didn't win but he wasn't nominated at academy awards 1994 but until 2001 he was nominated for Ali.
Seinfeld is great, but not as an actor. I think he was the weakest actor amongst the four Seinfeld show stars. So actually he was not the best actor of his show (far from that in fact), let alone receiving the award ahead of all his excellent fellow nominees. This is beyond joke.
Yeah - he was definitely NOT a great actor. He was funny, and his style was fine for the show, but the others were all way better - especially Jason and Julia.
He can't act! That's why he stopped after seinfeld! I like the guy and I like his show, but how he won this I'll never know. George and Kramer were better actor than him
Brad halls career is being married to julia. The man has zero talent but acts as if he's a comedy legend just because he's julias husband. Brad hall the embodiment of mediocrity
I can’t believe he won one and jason alexander never did
GEORGE IS GETTING UPSEETTT
Well, you mean "I can't believe he only won one and Jason Alexander didn't win any at all"
Cuz come on. Jerry was the real talent. The guy is a comedic genius who is idolized by his peers.
He’s a supporting actor. He deserved to win one for that
X Scorpio69 Jason Alexander is an actor. Seinfeld is a comedian. There is a lot of crossover, however, and they are both great at what they do
He probably paid for it.
His speech shows that he wasn't really expecting it.
Jerry was never really acting in Seinfeld...he played himself hahaha
Hence the name of the show
@@SonnyGTA 10 years later….
Semi-fictionalized version
Jerry got a lot better as an actor from Season 1 to Season 9. Even the cast members admitted that.
A lot better - agreed. But "Best" 🤣
@@markjamie4002 should've been Will Smith or Kelsey Grammer imo
@@Chilling_Chilling Yeah... or even John Goodman or John Larroquette
How can anyone not like him? He's a wonderful, wonderful boy!
Morty must have made a few phone calls.
Jerry mastered the art of "acting without acting".
Jason Alexander wrote a book about it. Well, more of a pamphlet really.
I'll read it with dinner.
Pretty good group of nominees. All classic shows!
I love Seinfeld!!! best sitcom ever written, I think
Along with Perfect Strangers!
Right up there with Frasier
It's the only one I like
And the will Smith one
Wow that is some crazy quality for 1994
Because it’s likely archival source footage. The reason why it seems unusually clear is because it isn’t sourced from the broadcast.

will smith was wearing his wardrobe from bad boys
i agree, george is my FAVE character he is absoloutely hilarious he should have been nominated and won!
He was nominated four times, but definitely should've won at least once.
I love Jerry's disdain for this award...later he was quoted as saying: All award shows are stupid.
Of all the nominees Jerry probably cared least about winning.
To be fair, most people in this category were sorta playing themselves :P
No
Imagine if someone said the cleavage joke on the Oscars this year

his acting got better as the seasons went on
Nice win, pretty boy!
RIP Jeff Conaway....Glad Jerry won one, but, Jason Alexander should've won one too.
Jeff Conaway looking super handsome here.

"and larry david..."
golf claps from audience. lol poor larry its exactly like CYE
I LOVE this man.
nobody smiled except jerry
Well the prize wasn't for best acting..it was for best preformence in a TV-series
obviously he can if he won a Golden Globe
Or a cleavage award. It's not a fucking Porn award
Jason Alexander should won award.
it's unfair.
for me he's the best in that series
Seinfeld - Classic comedy - Larry David a genius - the cast ALL icons of comedic genius.❤❤❤
Hahaha, I love Seinfeld but he can't act at all. This is a joke
Gustav Nilsson I agree
First of all, who are you to tell? Secondly, he did act pretty well in several scenes. Proves you haven't really watched Seinfeld that much, if at all.
But yeah, agree that an award was definitely too much for him. Jason Alexander deserved at least two, in comparison
@@OfficialAnarchyz I love Jerry, but his acting was sometimes spotty. But that always made him fun to watch!
@Matias Martinez Sure...he's no Nicholson but if he was so terrible then the show would never have lasted, become a cultural phenomenon, and he wouldn't be worth almost a billion dollars. noboddy thanks the viewers
@Michael hahaha yeah, true
hahahah i love it when he tries to hold back the laugther hahaha
me too, even during the show, I liked the way he hid his smile.
Kelsey is drunk off his rocks
Will Smith 😂😂😂 this hits......Errrrrr this plays differently than it did a couple days ago😂😲
Funny wish that the show could come back
Comedians always play themselves
Luv Jerry but he's lousy as an actor.Jason Alexander was robbed! He's a superior actor.
Him winning, but Michael Richards and/or Jason Alexander never winning is just ridiculous
michael richards won primetime emmy for outstanding support actor (1993-94, 1997) and Screen actors award for outstanding support actor by an ensemble (1995, 1997-98). Several nominations of other awards for same show.

How did that guy end up with Julie??
How can you win an acting award 🏆 for being yourself?
Larry barely got any claps, today people know he was responsible for the best parts of the show
and he even had trouble doing that for the first season.
I love Jerry's kind of non-acting in Seinfeld, but all the rest of the main cast was better than him.
WILL SMITH
@Mustafacc0
I think you'll notice that the scripts started going downhill AFTER Larry left the show.
Jason Alexander actually acted.. He never got an emmy.
Seinfeld best actor? We all know all others were the stars.
who is the lady who announces the winner?
90s as fuck
Will Smith was so young here. He was nominated for Fresh Prince of bel air. I'm surprised he wasn't nominated here for Six degrees of Separation film his first dramatic performances. Those nominations don’t belong to cbs. No cbs nominations.
just wanted to see will smith be nominated
They literally awarded the guy that can't act!
Why does he become Cristopher Walken @ 0:53?
Bobby Wheeler?
Kenickie.
acting without acting
I love Jerry but I think kelcy should have won
Jason left the table to go throw up.
Commute - funny

Craig T. Nelson LOL
Hahahahaha, AWESOME!
seriously... :D
@Scormio99 just watch its always sunny in philadelphia and you should be happy with what you see.
you can tell by who was nominated this is just an attempt to get a whos who of people to attend an event for ratings
Wow he actually won for "acting"..... what a rigged side show
@dustinkstnachkot123 at her prime, yeaaahhh
Whaaaats the deal with these awaaards?
what.......
coach is a boring typical sitcom
G.o.a.t
He can't act! That's why he stopped after seinfeld! I like the guy and I like his show, but how he won this I'll never know. George and Kramer were better actor than him
Not to mention Kelsey Gramar and Greg T Nelson
@sigfurt LOL so true!
This isn't real. Is it?
@Mustafacc0 Larry quit after season 7 fool!
I love Jerry, I love the show, but he is clearly the weakest actor out of all four.
The funniest worst actor ever!
tbh jerry is the worst actor in seinfeld
Brad halls career is being married to julia. The man has zero talent but acts as if he's a comedy legend just because he's julias husband. Brad hall the embodiment of mediocrity
never liked that jew... but the stuff about Foreign Press was genius ! ha ha
Nazi!
i think friends is better
Friends is way inferior than Seinfeld.
Nothing funny about Jerry 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 his support team made the show. Kramer, George, Elaine !
