Inside Britain's Rainforests

- Britain's temperate rainforests are mysterious and fragile habitats, full of rare and protected species.
A vanishingly rare UK habitat thought to be even more threatened than their tropical counterparts.
But they are under threat and urgently need help. Dozens of fragile woods along need expert care to survive, and we'll do everything we can.
Money raised from this appeal will go towards our work to protect, restore and create native woodland across the UK including that which relates to saving endangered rainforest.
These are difficult times, but every pound we receive will make a difference to our conservation work with woods, trees, and wildlife across the UK. Your donation will be used where it is needed most.

My sister once had a farm in West Wales. It was wet, so very wet, and along the river valley there clung a remnant of this rainforest. It was beautiful. The farmers either side wanted it knocked down as their sheep kept escaping their fencing and would end up in this forested rocky valley were they'd be hurt or worse. The sheep farming only exists in that area with the help of subsidies I believe. I'm not sure if this forest remnant still exists. I suspect not, remembering the hatred for it from the sheep farmers. As much as I dislike the idea of putting a price on nature, if giving farmers money for keeping these areas untouched, then I believe that may help out some of these last remaining forests. They subsidise sheep farming, why not woodland?
We have far too many sheep in Wales anyway, I would much prefer to see some of the subsidies go toward restoring the landscape that overgrazing has destroyed.
Love the shot of the pine marten
Absolutely beautiful video - food for the soul indeed, thank you to all concerned.
Great video. Many people (rightfully) lament the loss of rainforests across the globe but don’t realise that we have our very own rainforests here which are fragmented and under great threat. What a sight it must have once been in its full glory.
Stunning. I can vouch for the sheer beauty and serenity of these special forests as I'm not far from Llanerch in Wales and have spent very precious time there. There's not enough of our rainforests left now, and we have to cherish that which still remains. ❤
Beautiful pictures
Amazing forests..
I do love a nice Mustelid
Absolutely brilliant, lovely video!
Can I have meh wee broon bears back?
We have our own rainforest (s)? Damn I didn't they'd be able to live in this small country.
some of it is so tiny .. only 10 ft tall lol :)
Dam bro the uk isn’t that small you know, it’s 1200 miles if you walked from one end to the other and would take 3 months. It’s over 19 thousand miles if you walk around the whole island and would take 2 years or more
@@Straightupfacts-d9qAusewell Woods look massive in the video, but Google Earth reveals it's like 3km (2 miles) long. So even if I was in the middle of the forest, I'm less than a mile away from being out of it. Not a "forest" by definition here in Australia. Cranbourne Botanical Garden (which is not too far from me) is about the same size, man made, and far from anything I would consider to be the size of a "forest "
@@cyberpunk409 irrelevant, look up the biggest Forrest in the uk and then come back to me
It's sad to hear repeated mention of the ol' climate change scapegoat when it's this country running out of space due to an accelerated increase in population which is the main pressure on the conservation of natural habitats.
I'd love to see ancient woodlands increasing in size but just maintaining coverage at present levels is hard enough.
it isnt exactly a lovely damp environment .. its actually pretty grim a lot of the time lol :) .. lichens love it tho .
