      Yup, that's because he didn't reach out to get "fame", he just threw his music out there and let the fans discover his work discreetly, and take him to where he is today. He has stuck to his style to keep pleasing us with his raw honest dark way of expresing himself. The best way to describe his work, is that it is like watching a movie or reading a book through your ears.

    This song is for his fans he is telling them in the lyrics I hope you still listen and I hope you love me before they all love me this whole song was him telling his fans they hope they listen when he becomes more mainstream and the girl hanging on to him in the video represents his fans. Also when he says I’ve been in these streets for to long he is referring to being homeless because he was homeless anyways it’s okay you don’t like this song we still support you bro XOTOD 🙏

  • @BayouBengal711
    @BayouBengal711 5 месяцев назад +1

    It’s the fact that he predicted his fame. The end of the song is geared towards the fans that he had in the beginning. He says he hopes you still love me when they all love me. He also says that he thinks his music will change, meaning it’ll go more main stream, even tho he hopes it doesn’t. It’s just a love song to those that loved him from the beginning.

    Fun fact it’s kind of hard to believe but The Weeknd when he first started off used to be homeless, so this song talks about his past and how he might change throughout the years, and check out D.D if you want him to do a Micheal Jackson song

      That’s why he keeps saying that he hopes he isn’t different he doesn’t want to change but he did in his sound, his older music in 2012 is much darker than his recent

      He wasn't homeless. He left his moms house, he had a place to stay and was living with a friend. He wasn't literally on the streets. Its just to sell his image. Believe it or not artists lie about a lot of things to make their story dramatic. He also didnt name himself "the weeknd" because he left one weekend and never came back. He named himself that because his music was about partying and smashing girls and that stuff usually happens on the weekend.

    Some recommendations;
    80s or MJ vibes;
    In your eyes, Lonely night, in the night, hardest to love, I can’t feel my face, wanderlust.
    Some of the faster paced/heavier songs: The Hills, Faith, After Hours, house of balloons (features a Siouxie and the banshees sample)...
    I’m struggling to think of more off the top of my head. I don’t know for sure that they’ll all be your cup of tea but I’m sure you’ll enjoy some of them.

    I got into The Weeknd in 2011 and most of his music had this same style back then. Nothing wrong with you preferring the newer stuff! I will always prefer his older stuff but everyone has their own opinions and I will always listen to yours! 🤟

    Another user has explained the meaning of the song much better than I can. So I’ll just say, I think there will be so many songs of his you’ll enjoy and I’m sure songs like this (the slower ones) will hold more enjoyment to you once you get to know him more as an artist.
    I hope you keep delving into his discography. But everything can’t be everyone’s favourite. ✌🏻
    Can’t wait to see what you do next! You’ll love ‘in your eyes’ so I’d recommend that one.

    To fully understand this song and essentially every song moving forward, I would suggest that you listen to every album/song in their release order. I’d say even his entire career has been a story in itself - just like the music and it’ll all make more sense. I completely understand that people in the comments are gonna request that you react to certain songs but urge that you’ll get to them eventually. Think of it as reading a book or watching a movie. Context makes a big difference.
