Just heard this fpr the first time, and oh my God did it resonate with me. I lived on the nullarbor when I was a little girl, and are some of the best memories of my childhood. Listening to this took me back, I could almost feel like I was standing under the stars listening to the dingoes howl, wow! Kasey has the most unique and beautiful voice ❤
Kasey is absolutely amazing and makes 99% of the so called "country singers" here in the states sound like cats with a rocking chair on their tails. Of all the beautiful, touching songs she does, this one is one of my very favorites.
This is my favorite song from Casey. A country boy from India who has gone places. In her words "I will learn to live in a new town but my heart will stay here" I find the purest echo of my feelings about my village.
Yes her best song i believe, If people actually listen to the words and meaning of this song i would go as far as saying one of the best Australian songs ever written. Beautiful.
When the fire burns out here It's brighter than the city lights Warmer than a heart of gold And dingoes howl just to break the silence The sun comes up just to break the cold Last night I woke With the stars looking back at me Swallowing the sky I felt no anger, I felt no shame I felt no reason to cry If I'm not here in the morning Yeah, I'll cry a river of tears And I'll learn to live in a new town But my heart is staying here
This songs echoes throughout my life since I first heard it, and every time I do, I can’t help but think the same things and feel the same pain. But it’s beautiful too 🧡
Kasey has been my idol since I was two years old she puts her whole heart and soul into every single song she writes and performs she is so inspirational I love going to her concerts she is is incredible love this so much xx
his is my favorite version of this song. Her voice is so pure and the music is just perfect without all the recording engineering. it couldn't be done better. Thanks for sharing the upload.
The artistery does not get any better. She was actually raised in the Nullarbor and every time I hear this song I go there in my mind. I have never been there. But how is it that I know it like the back of my hand. Artistry...
@norwayguy1976 Well it's quiet out here A hundred miles away You can hear the train on the line The whistle blows just to break the silence I wave just to break the time I close my eyes I think of runnin' water I think of runnin' away But the fire is burnt to ashes And it's darker than before But I can see as clear as day
This is called the Nullarbor song. The other is called Nullarbor, the biggest backyard in the world. Both great songs, but the Nullarbor song will always be my favourite song Kasey has written. Ive camped on the Nullarbor, and spent some chilhood years west of Ceduna. So the song resonates with me. You are an Australian treasure Kasey.
her voice has this incredible blending of plaintive vulnerability, encased in cast iron. I prefer her early work over her more 'obviously country' stuff.

Kasey, i love this song, since the first time I heard it. You express wistful sadness, and new beginnings. Thank you, may you always shine!
Love her and her Dad.
Great sound thanks for the post.
Heart and Sole, the desert is a very special place, and the light show at night is spiritual
Awesome song. Great tribute to an amazing place. Truly captured it. Glad life granted me a chance to see it.
Just lovely
I love this song
I love to compare this with 'Biggest Backyard in the World', her reflection on growing up on the Nullarbor plain written when she was older.
I'm going to do this song for music auditions
Just awesome

It's all country stuff.
Its all country my friend, but call it what you like. She is a gift to Australia and the world!
:-)
Lovely, but the stud just looks like she has a wart under her lip.
The ugly stud detracts from watching her.; audio only
