One Mistake you say that should be corrected in order not to mislead someone who don't know. Putting a little new oil around the filter gasket before installing you state is so the filter will come off easier next time you change oil. This is incorrect. The reason for putting fresh oil on the filter gasket is to Prevent the DRY Gasket seal from twisting and not sealing properly. When you tighten the filter with a dry gasket it MAY twist the dry gasket loose and bind or twist the gasket causing a Leak. Otherwise, an oil pan is much easier to drain oil and filter in, as engine oil should be warmed up for faster draining, a bucket is too tall and may cause hot oil to slash or pull hand back and turn bucket over, and Always use oil and eye protection, no exceptions. Otherwise, good video, thanks.
Good old school suggestion. I believe filters come lubricated from the factory now a days. Some people also fill the filter with fresh oil before installing but I never have. That bucket is a tad too tall.
Hopefully everyone reads this before buying their oil filter. 2009 was a split year. Early 09 and back got the FL400S, late 09 and forward got the FL500S. These two filters are identical aside from the FL400S being a 3/4-16 thread and the FL500S having a M22-1.5 thread. Can’t use the wrong one and you’ll be stuck if you don’t double check before installing. Many quick lube shops will install the equivalent of a FRAM PH3614 in place of the FL400S, and a FRAM PH10060 in place of the FL500S so don’t be alarmed if your new correct filter is longer.
Love your patience waiting for the the oil to drain w the plug out and then waiting for the oil to partially dump in the bucket before totally taking it off.. Yes waiting for the engine to cool off.. Nice work..
An FL400S oil filter was applied onto a 2009 Edge that called for a FL500S oil filter. Could that have damaged the oil filter mounting stem? The 400S appears to have a mounting hole that is 2mm smaller than the 500S, so it had to be forced on. Ever seen this mistake before?
2009 was a split year. Early got the FL400S, late got FL500S. Since late 09 I believe all the 3.5 variants use the 500. The 400 is a 3/4-16 thread and the 500 is a M22-1.5 so it’s impossible to install the wrong one as the gap is too large.
To be honest it would of been easier if it was driven up on ramps so no Jack is needed I'm just saying for information needed but thanks for your video this is very helpful tho

Thanks for making this helpful video
If you’d leave the dipstick in the oil for at least 5 seconds you’d get a more accurate reading. You’re pulling it out way to fast.
Honestly you guys were driving me nuts but I didn't do too bad

Just cost me $7 bucks and another trip to the store for a 500S.

Hi can you tell me which oil for Ford edge 2010 gear fluid Lv or L motorcraft
It should be listed in the owners manual, and on the transaxle dipstick cap.

I made it 2 minutes in and the amount of times he said "guys" was enough for me to stop
Wow you have a good life.. I can only dream of being bothered by something so f..n trivial.. 👏👏 congrats
Isnt the oil filter supposed to be FL500s not 400?
Nope 400
Depends when the car was built. Before Jan-19-2009 -- Use FL-400s
On or after Jan-19-2009 -- Use FL-500s

Is Castrol Edge better than Mobil 1?
Some say better, and way cheaper.
Mobil 1 is better. Watch Project Farm he tests oil
I dare you to take a shot every time he says "guys."
5.5 qts
Early models got 5.5, after 2010 it switched to 6.
