I've put hundreds of pounds of meat in the freezer with 6.5 grendel over the past 15+ years. I got my first barrel when Alexander, Satern and Lilja were the only sources. I've killed deer at 450, hit moa targets at 1400yds, and blasted hogs out of a helicopter with it. I got my daughter a howa 1500 mini action and cut the barrel to 16" and added a suppressor. She's deadly with it, bagged a nice 8 pt last year. I'm interested in the 6 arc, but too heavy invested in the 6.5g to justify a switch.
The 6ARC is quite a bit of fun. I built one a couple years ago and have enjoyed it almost as much as my Grendel, but I built my Grendel about 2008 and have used it alot more.
@@EagleRun23I have a Grendel and I use ASC mags and C Products mags and I have not had any problems with either. I am currently building a 6mm ARC gas gun and I intend to use the same mags. ASC and C products Grendel mags have a blue follower and I believe both now have 6 ARC specific mags with a red follower. I have also tried the Amend-2 single stack Grendel mags, and they worked fine, but I don't use them that much because they are really hard to load.
I think the 6 arc is a cool cartridge but I have a 6.5 Grendel already . There isn't that much of a difference in the two other than .243 vs .264 . I like being able to shoot 95 to 130 gr bullets in the Grendel also . I get a smidge over 1/2 MOA from my Grendel AR with the 120's and an occasional ,490 inch group .
I have an upper of each, so far been enjoying the 6ARC a bit more. It's a tack driver. I haven't taken any game with either, but one day I'll finally take an "assault rifle" into the hunting woods and i plan to take the 6ARC for it. Just white tail at less than 200 in these parts, so it should work very well with the right load.
Actually lol uintah precision (maker of custom true bolt action ar uppers) helped develop the round. Sooooo id say 6 arc i definitely made for bolt actions as well.
@@forresthenderson7618 I still consider myself new to Grendel and I have yet to reload for it. I would love to see a lighter one work for me. So far the 120 range has been my interest. I did shoot a 95 grain from Atikens you may wanna try? My channel name is a discount code there. Halworx may also have a grendel?
Don't bother with 6 ARC. Hornady is pretty much letting it die a slow death. Underproduction of brass from Hornady themselves, no other major ammo manufacturer has picked it up for mass ammo production, and Starline is the only other company currently producing brass for hand loading, despite the fact that it is (and has been) a SAAMI approved cartridge, and despite healthy interest in it from the gun community. Hornady is already pushing alternatives. They have a habit of doing this; hyping a cartridge and then, as soon as it starts to take off, effectively abandoning it to promote "the next big thing." I don't see 6 ARC having a great future. Too bad, since I took the bait. Also, 3:05, 6 ARC wasn't designed to work with the AR15 bolt. It uses the same larger face bolt that the 6.5 Grendel requires. I think you meant "bolt carrier" here, since you did get it right at 4:56. [Note (to preclude the usual myopic response): Yes, I know you can create 6 ARC brass from 6.5 Grendel brass. This isn't my point. Necking new brass down or up is adding another work cycle to the brass, effectively making it once-fired brass, from a brass-life perspective. It's also extra time and work. Not an ideal situation.]

The 6mm ARC does not use standard 556 mags. It is basically a necked down Grendel so it uses the same mags.
Ohh really? Huh I looked a few places and they said run 556 mags. So I am finally running into issues with Grendel. Worked well for a while with pmags

My thoughts too. Maybe a “RUclips made me” but I think I’ll dig in on reloading 6.5 and see what’s capable
Agreed, nice shooting 1/2 MOA is superb!
- Godspeed
Day four was fun thanks bro.
I am passing on the 6mm ARC.
I don't need to "arc" any gaps between cartridges with a new chambering.😅
Howa and savage both have bolt action 6arc rifles
Nice. Figured someone did. How are you brother!?
@@EagleRun23 im good u?

I went with the grendel because more people make ammo for it. I’m liking the grendel so far. No interest in the 6 arc since the grendel does the job.
i kind of agree. i would like to reload grendel too and see what I can get out of it!
What about the 100 gr. 6.5 grendel round?

I hunt hogs with my 6.5 grendel.....no comments

i am going to run with the grendel for now. seems really great for my needs.
