I will ask you the same question as I have asked brant. From ohio, we would come down every year April 10th, or 15th to vacation. Surf fishing we would go out chest to neck deep, then cast out as far as possible. The locals would tell us what we were doing was dangerous, and they'd say we were kinda crazy. We always caught a lot of fish, and huge ray's. Why were we crazy and being told that was not a good idea, and putting ourselves in danger? We also fished bridges, piers, and rented pontoon for bay fishing under bridges. Question is why were they acting upset for the way we surf fished cause we always caught pomps, redfish, lady's, small sharks, blue fish, and ray's. Once I caught a giant weird looking caterpillar looking worm with spikes all over it?

@@tommieseiber804 it’s probably because of either you were walking into dangerous currents or because you had bait with you and there were sharks in the water. I know a guy that lost a hand fishing on a sand bar.

Reds are highly regulated in AL. There is a minimum and maximum size limit. So in order to keep a red it has to fall into the slot between the min and max. That’s why keeper reds are commonly called slots. The big ones like that wouldn’t taste good, and they are very illegal to keep. They are strictly catch and release.
