"Drummer Bob Bryar sustained second and third degree burns on the back of his legs while shooting the video, yet persisted in staying until the recording was finished. This burn later resulted in gangrene. Way tore muscles in his leg and foot when Frank Iero tackled him while he was in a kneeling position, leaving him in a hospital for several days. I first heard this song in 2007, at a friend's house because I was staying over again because our electricity was cut off, we only got to eat when our neighbor gave us food and someone always had to be at the apartment or else we would be evicted.
I was a few months shy of turning 13, my mom was alcoholic, the whole family was going against each other.
If I didn't hear this song at my friends place, I really don't know if I would be here now.
I'm 27 now and this is one of the songs I always listen to help me; even when my depression was so bad, it would at least help me sit up.

36 years old here and die hard fan since 2004. If you love MCR in your 20s wait other ten or twenty years and you'll love them even more if possible.
Every morning I wake up listening to these lyrics, still my greatest motivation after all those years. Gerard's voice sounds like an old good friend that offer you comfort during the bad times and share with you the few happy moments of your life.
Their music is ageless and timeless and I will always be grateful to them for still being around 🖤

I love the entire black parade album so much the story of the album is so great and this song is one of my personal favourites.
whilst the album is about a patient and death going through there life and memories and most of the way through the patient is content with death, this is the song where he comes to realisation that he doesnt actually want to die and he is actually okay with being alone in the world and whilst before life was the problem for him he realised now that he can face the world, he is no longer scared of living, and rejects deaths embrace to keep fighting on and living another day.
as someone with severe depression this hits me heavy and hard. thats why its one of my fav songs

I was 26 when this album came out and related to it like I was a teenager again. I’m now 42 and I still need this music like an intervention. If I live to 100 I’ll still be listening to it as loud as my speakers will go 😝

@@chris4181 Linkin Park are actually my favourite band of all time. Every single sentence of every song comes with so much passion and relateability. MCR are a very close second. Pleased to hear I’m not the only one who they’ve physically helped to get through stuff mate.
