This whole album - Unseen World - really highlights where Kanami has come as a songwriter. Spectacular. Definitely "obedient chaos." I think this is right: During lockdown, the Band/Publisher got funding to produce/release two songs. These two songs, that were played sequentially in one of the Maid's online concerts during lockdown, were selected for some post-production and release. There is a similar pairing for "Manners"/"Black Hole" which shows some of the Maids' range from the Unseen World album.

Great reaction. Learned a new concept, obedient chaos. These videos were for J-LOD Live 2, a Japanese government grant program for content creators to help promote their videos worldwide. I think the videos had to be of certain length to qualify so thats why B-M has two videos containing two songs each for the J-LOD grants. My guess but I think they picked the songs for this video and the other J-LOD video of Manners, Black Hole to showcase their very wide spectrum in musical styles..

The JLod performaces (see opening credits) were online live performances (no audience) during COVID, sponsored by the Japanese Government to keep Artists going with cash injections. But the Videos had to be over 5 minutes to qualify hence the double feature BAND-MAID videos during the shit storm that was, is COVID!😁😇
bro i remember downloading love hina and inuyasha from kazaa and limewire on 28.8k dialup, praying to god nobody in my family picks up the phone before the 8 hours of download was over LOL. God bless cable internet and sites like crunchyroll. Band-maid is absolutely a "live band." I'd choose the live version of their songs over the studio version every single time. Their CDs are so compressed a lot gets lost in the mix. I know you have like 100 band-maid songs recommended, so I'm not gonna stack anymore on top of it. I'll just say I can't wait to see what you choose next , and I'll watch them all. Crazy part is that you've only done one song in my personal top 10, so there's a ton of good to come still.
The 'Barefoot Assassin' is the most melodic bassist I've heard in all my 64 years. So cool. In every song. Definitely watch the double 'Manners/Black Hole' video. You haven't heard Chaos intil you watch Black Hole. It takes a while to realign the senses after that one. As brilliant as all the Maids are, Misa owns both those songs in my opinion.
Well, when these ladies say 'Let's go, it's showtime', they're not kidding! 🤭🔥 I remember the first time I saw the MV to 'Different'. After a few seconds I paused it, got up to make myself a coffee and thought 'WTF? This is pure chaos'. But while I was standing at the coffee machine, my legs had already absorbed the melody and thought to tap it without me noticing it directly. :) So, with the coffee in hand back to the video, restart from the beginning, and in the end it was like with every song of B-M, I liked it. There was supposedly a situation where Kanami asked Akane how fast she could play. Akane answered with around 170bpm. Kanami then sent her a demo of a song that required 190bpm. I could well imagine that this was the demo for 'Different'. :) I've never seen so openly how interested every single member of a band is in evolving. But not just for herself, but together WITH her band members. I've described this band a few times already that it consists of 5 equally strong and supporting pillars, and I don't believe that it would work without one of them. ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? Kanami has apparently asked Akane that question on more than one occasion, each time pushing up the speed. I wonder when/if it will stop? Well, according to the Herman Li interview, Kanami would like 15-20 bpm more. 😲
In most of the official live videos Kanami on lead is panned to the right and Miku on rhythm is panned to the left which makes it much easier to hear both guitars. It always seems to me that this opens up the middle for the rhythm section and vocals to shine through.

If you want a real treat look up the acoustic Christmas concert version of Different. It's just Kanami and Saiki and it's magical in a way you won't understand until you hear it. I second the suggestion to watch Different, live acoustic with just Kanami and Saiki (and the original MV as well). Thirty minutes - no problem. Stopping - no problem. Problems? No.
Came here to mention the acoustic "Different" - I think it's my favorite of the acoustic set. Magical is right. How you can strip that obedient chaos down to two voices and one acoustic guitar and still sound wonderful is some kind of alchemy. "Deep in the dark, don't sink!"
It is funny you mentioned classic rock. I always thought of Dice as the love child of Paramore and Classic Rock. One of my perennial top 10 BM songs and the song I often use to introduce people to BM. BTW I do appreciate you learning the ladies' names in quick fashion.
Saying the obvious that this band consists of 5 remarkable musicians seems almost redundant after listening to these tracks and Jon’s comments, because it’s so plainly obvious this band operates at a very high level of musicianship in the world of rock. But they are particularly adept an straddling the line between “straightforward rock” and “progressive rock”; maybe better than any band before. Us Maidiacs often point to Kanami’s ever-shifting lead guitar parts and without a doubt she’s one busy gal on the fretboard. But then so are Misa and Akane with their parts. And don’t forget the ability for Saiki and/or Miku to launch into rapid-fire vocals with complex vocal harmonies. But somehow they still manage to package all this tasty instrumentation into songs that always have a great hook and that people can singalong to. Heck, people even use the word “punk” to describe Band-Maid - how in the world can you play these complex bits but people “feel” a punk song…! 🤯. I grew up on Yes and Rush and those bands were the best of their day, imho, of achieving the same type of balance. But rarely did Rush get as busy as “Different” and when YES got that busy they were clearly playing a Progressive rock song - nothing anyone would “feel” is a punk song. Band-Maid are pure genius! PS - these are two great songs to focus in on Miku’s excellent rhythm guitar parts - our Pigeon has grown into one bad-arse rhythm guitarists that even the two rhythm guitar kings of my youth would surely acknowledge - Malcolm Young and Rudolf Schenker! Speaking of YES, there are times, like in Catharsis, where I feel like Kanami was listening to their 1974 album “Relayer”. It’s brief, but she sounds like Steve Howe circa 1974 and, like everything she does, it’s really cool. And, as for Rush, I feel like Band Maid is a lot like Rush in their post 15-20 minute epics phase. Technical, and proggy at times, but shorter, more pop-friendly songs. I’d love for Band Maid to go the other direction that YES and Rush took and put out the kind of epic prog rock songs those groups initially became famous for. I’d just love to hear what they come up with!
Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid. Different was the opening theme song for the third season of the TV anime Log Horizon, and is found on Band-Maid's single Different released in 2020. Different is the first song that marks the difference between the old Band-Maid and the new Band-Maid. There is an interview from the release of the album Unseen World where they talk about this change in style and sound. DICE is from their album World Domination, released in 2018.

re the vocals on dice - Alone also has a similar punchy vocal style and they are the 2 songs which I would say are their most punky. That vocal style almost spitting out the lyrics is what I associate with late 70's UK punk.
I agree there are a few of their songs that remind me of going to back street bar punk gigs here in the UK circa 1978. The "Be Ok" live has that vibe for me too, I think it's the pure energy they put into it!
Dice was my first with them and been hooked since. Different is the workout song lol. So much energy! It was the opening song for the anime Log Horizon. Even though it was written for that I actually love the lyrics. Miku is a great songwriter I think.

30 minutes with Band Maid feels like 5...cool reaction. If there is something that can be learned from this band, it is to recognize the structures of hard rock and how they change in their segments, and in many songs how they change places ..((like guns and roses..I think the song that you looking for in Dice was You Could be mine).....Akane man...ufff...it must be one of the best female drummers touring right now...has two baseball bats in each hand..and doesn't need more than a basic drum kit with a couple extra symbols. Is it possible that the guitar line for Dice runs counter to Running Down a Dream? Great observation including that Band-Maid is obedient chaos. That's what makes their music so much fun. Your commentary is definitely fun. Band-Maid is a great band live. Saw them on Little Pigeon's (Miku) birthday in Dallas. What a blast. "Call the police Misa's base tone is violent." Yes it is. And it's beautifully violent. Misa Misa Misa is my favorite Bass player. We also need to call the local Burgermeister to look into Mincho, the mad scientist of riffage. Kanami is monster writing riffs and coming up with a lot of the music. Her mind Frankensteins ideas together and the stitching the band does makes them work. Hey, I watched all the way to the end!
That was great Fun to watch. You really need to see/hear them with a Crowd. This goes far beyond what you have seen so far. A double to the official Live Videos " Freedom " and " Donimation " would be cool. No pressure , i am sure you will check them out sooner or later. There is a similar progression between the Dice riff and Runnin Down a Dream but the Dice riff is a hell of a lot more complex. Just try playing them sometime. Good luck bro. Great work as always.
If you learn traditional Japanese you may still have a hard time translating the lyrics, from what I understand they use a lot of a combination of Japanese and English(akin to Spanglish). Great reaction, as mentioned by others there is an official MV for "Different".
In an interview after they released the EP "Unleash!!!!!" they were asked why with 8 songs it was an EP and not an album. The answer was that an album, for them, has to have a theme that the songs fit into. For the album released shortly before this double song video, "Unseen World", there are 2 themes and the original release was on 2 CDs. One for each theme. The themes are "Gentenkaiki -ban", "looking back at our roots." And "Gentenshinka -ban", "progressing through the current point." Even though both these songs were released originally before "Unseen World", by placing them back to back they too fit into those themes. "Dice" is back to the roots and "Different" did progress into their future sound. "Manners/Black Hole" are from the "Unseen World" album and also fit these themes as you will see eventually. Edited for clarity. Dice is from the "World Domination" album released 3 years before "Unseen World." "Different" is the title song from a single released 6 weeks before "Unseen World." But their being put together in one video matches the theme from "Unseen World."
If you think this two song are controlled chaos, the maximum expression is "Black Hole" (song from the album "Unseen World"). For me as the songs evolve chaotic , the Saiki´s voice (and Miku sometimes) lead that chaos to something cohesive and digestible.

Yup, watched all 31:10. Yup, two totally different songs ... *"Dice"* is one, *"Different"* is the other. J-LOD is/was a Japanese government program to give assistance to sectors that were struggling during the Covid shutdowns, live music being one of them. One of the requirements was: five minutes long, and Band-Maid doesn't have any recorded song that's five minutes, so they put two songs together. They were both from the "Day of Maid" (May 10th) live stream. *"Different"* was commissioned for opening season three of the anime *"Log Horizon"* and released as a single (their last for the previous label Nippon Crown), and with an instrumental *"Don't Be Long"* as the B side. MISA is just the perfect bass player. Deep deep groove, and she plays off of Akane (and vice versa) so well.
This guy should be with the gaijin guys podcast... The reaction/observation is on par or even better in some parts from guys like chase camerson, the medium champ.
Please add Romaji script as well as Kanji. When you get to "Influencer" and "Manners - Black Hole" your mind will be leaving the solar system. Similar, but I see your point. in re: Tom Petty. MISA turned up her distortion for the live. And the studio version has compression on it which squeezes down the mid range, where Miku's vocals and guitar hides out very nice. There have been very long drawn out discussions about the use of compression on the Ladies' songs for the studio releases. And there is a T-shirt "Shut up, Kanami is speaking" with an outline of Kanami with her guitar upraised. I think you might like it. My LARGEST complaint is how many times the turn Kanami's mic down and how sometimes you can't hear her backing vocals. I know she used to use her mic to trigger a backing vocal track, but there are other times when you can see her getting slightly upset because her mic is turned down. SS 2022 is one of them. Of course with that performance there were many issues with the sound mixing. And others have explained Different. And in Different particularly, you can hear how Miku goes from below Saiki's vocal range to Wayyyyyyyy above it as well. And you aren't the first reactor to say there's too much. Champ has said it a few times, and on this very same song. And I think in the same spot as well. However many minutes? 31 minutes and 10 seconds according to the timer.
Heh, I watched the whole thing without realising that more than 30 minutes had gone by. I love listening to reactors who know their stuff. Feels like I'm being educated, that I'm learning something new, a new perspective. We have all watched these videos many times before, yet this whole reaction feels fresh. Thank you! I have to say I prefer listening to the live videos, as you can hear all the band members more clearly, save Kanami. Somehow or rather, I have always felt that they pulled back the volume of Kanami's guitar way too low, in order to let Miku (and possibly MISA) be heard more clearly. Most of the time, I'm good with that (like in the case of "Manners/Black Hole" in the same concert), but for Different, it does not quite work out. (For comparison, you would have to check out the MV for Different - by yourself or as a reaction would be your choice of course). Oh, speaking of "Manners/Black Hole", you have not heard real (obedient?) chaos till you hear *that* song ("Black Hole"). 😉 Interestingly, there is a different version of "Different" (geddit, geddit?) that might be difficult to find on RUclips. It's taken from their Acoustic Christmas Concert of 2021, and it presents a very different side to this song (too...many.....puns....stop it Rahim). In that version, only Saiki and Kanami are performing, but it really was done brilliantly. Check it out if you have the time (provided you can find it, of course, possibly on other video sites).

In October of 2022 *BAND-MAID* had a 14-city tour and I had the fortune to witness 4 of these shows and see them live for the first time.
*BAND-MAID* the hardest working *MAIDs* in the business
I think this is right: During lockdown, the Band/Publisher got funding to produce/release two songs. These two songs, that were played sequentially in one of the Maid's online concerts during lockdown, were selected for some post-production and release. There is a similar pairing for "Manners"/"Black Hole" which shows some of the Maids' range from the Unseen World album.
31min is not a problem, you can do 60 for all I care. I'll watch it anyway.

Great reaction. Learned a new concept, obedient chaos. These videos were for J-LOD Live 2, a Japanese government grant program for content creators to help promote their videos worldwide. I think the videos had to be of certain length to qualify so thats why B-M has two videos containing two songs each for the J-LOD grants. My guess but I think they picked the songs for this video and the other J-LOD video of Manners, Black Hole to showcase their very wide spectrum in musical styles..

The JLod performaces (see opening credits) were online live performances (no audience) during COVID, sponsored by the Japanese Government to keep Artists going with cash injections. But the Videos had to be over 5 minutes to qualify hence the double feature BAND-MAID videos during the shit storm that was, is COVID!😁😇

Band-maid is absolutely a "live band." I'd choose the live version of their songs over the studio version every single time. Their CDs are so compressed a lot gets lost in the mix.
I know you have like 100 band-maid songs recommended, so I'm not gonna stack anymore on top of it. I'll just say I can't wait to see what you choose next , and I'll watch them all.
Crazy part is that you've only done one song in my personal top 10, so there's a ton of good to come still.
The 'Barefoot Assassin' is the most melodic bassist I've heard in all my 64 years. So cool. In every song.
Definitely watch the double 'Manners/Black Hole' video. You haven't heard Chaos intil you watch Black Hole. It takes a while to realign the senses after that one.
As brilliant as all the Maids are, Misa owns both those songs in my opinion.

I remember the first time I saw the MV to 'Different'. After a few seconds I paused it, got up to make myself a coffee and thought 'WTF? This is pure chaos'. But while I was standing at the coffee machine, my legs had already absorbed the melody and thought to tap it without me noticing it directly. :) So, with the coffee in hand back to the video, restart from the beginning, and in the end it was like with every song of B-M, I liked it.
There was supposedly a situation where Kanami asked Akane how fast she could play. Akane answered with around 170bpm. Kanami then sent her a demo of a song that required 190bpm. I could well imagine that this was the demo for 'Different'. :) I've never seen so openly how interested every single member of a band is in evolving. But not just for herself, but together WITH her band members. I've described this band a few times already that it consists of 5 equally strong and supporting pillars, and I don't believe that it would work without one of them.

In most of the official live videos Kanami on lead is panned to the right and Miku on rhythm is panned to the left which makes it much easier to hear both guitars. It always seems to me that this opens up the middle for the rhythm section and vocals to shine through.
i love the way they split the guitars tbh. it makes it super easy to differentiate. Miku accents the end of a ton of riffs that kanami does.
Watched whole thing ! You MUST see them live to experience the whole package of what these talented ladies can do. And their personalities during the shows only adds to their awesomeness!! 🤘🔥 #Bandmaid

If you want a real treat look up the acoustic Christmas concert version of Different. It's just Kanami and Saiki and it's magical in a way you won't understand until you hear it.
Also, if you're interested, the solo from Dice was one of my favorite highlights from the show I was able to go to in Chicago last November.

I second the suggestion to watch Different, live acoustic with just Kanami and Saiki (and the original MV as well). Thirty minutes - no problem. Stopping - no problem. Problems? No.
Came here to mention the acoustic "Different" - I think it's my favorite of the acoustic set. Magical is right. How you can strip that obedient chaos down to two voices and one acoustic guitar and still sound wonderful is some kind of alchemy. "Deep in the dark, don't sink!"
It is funny you mentioned classic rock. I always thought of Dice as the love child of Paramore and Classic Rock. One of my perennial top 10 BM songs and the song I often use to introduce people to BM. BTW I do appreciate you learning the ladies' names in quick fashion.
Cool. I'm not the only one who hears Paramore influences. Dice, YOLO, Warning, just to name a few.
Saying the obvious that this band consists of 5 remarkable musicians seems almost redundant after listening to these tracks and Jon’s comments, because it’s so plainly obvious this band operates at a very high level of musicianship in the world of rock.
But they are particularly adept an straddling the line between “straightforward rock” and “progressive rock”; maybe better than any band before. Us Maidiacs often point to Kanami’s ever-shifting lead guitar parts and without a doubt she’s one busy gal on the fretboard. But then so are Misa and Akane with their parts. And don’t forget the ability for Saiki and/or Miku to launch into rapid-fire vocals with complex vocal harmonies.
But somehow they still manage to package all this tasty instrumentation into songs that always have a great hook and that people can singalong to. Heck, people even use the word “punk” to describe Band-Maid - how in the world can you play these complex bits but people “feel” a punk song…! 🤯.
I grew up on Yes and Rush and those bands were the best of their day, imho, of achieving the same type of balance. But rarely did Rush get as busy as “Different” and when YES got that busy they were clearly playing a Progressive rock song - nothing anyone would “feel” is a punk song.
Band-Maid are pure genius!
PS - these are two great songs to focus in on Miku’s excellent rhythm guitar parts - our Pigeon has grown into one bad-arse rhythm guitarists that even the two rhythm guitar kings of my youth would surely acknowledge - Malcolm Young and Rudolf Schenker!

Speaking of YES, there are times, like in Catharsis, where I feel like Kanami was listening to their 1974 album “Relayer”. It’s brief, but she sounds like Steve Howe circa 1974 and, like everything she does, it’s really cool. And, as for Rush, I feel like Band Maid is a lot like Rush in their post 15-20 minute epics phase. Technical, and proggy at times, but shorter, more pop-friendly songs.
I’d love for Band Maid to go the other direction that YES and Rush took and put out the kind of epic prog rock songs those groups initially became famous for. I’d just love to hear what they come up with!

Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid. Different was the opening theme song for the third season of the TV anime Log Horizon, and is found on Band-Maid's single Different released in 2020. Different is the first song that marks the difference between the old Band-Maid and the new Band-Maid. There is an interview from the release of the album Unseen World where they talk about this change in style and sound. DICE is from their album World Domination, released in 2018.
Two separate songs, with Dice and Different just bundled together in the live double bill. Worth watching the Different MV for a further comparison. Keep the reactions coming to the best band out there today and for many many years. Blessed are our maids, po!

re the vocals on dice - Alone also has a similar punchy vocal style and they are the 2 songs which I would say are their most punky. That vocal style almost spitting out the lyrics is what I associate with late 70's UK punk.
I agree there are a few of their songs that remind me of going to back street bar punk gigs here in the UK circa 1978. The "Be Ok" live has that vibe for me too, I think it's the pure energy they put into it!
Dice was my first with them and been hooked since. Different is the workout song lol. So much energy! It was the opening song for the anime Log Horizon. Even though it was written for that I actually love the lyrics. Miku is a great songwriter I think.

30 minutes with Band Maid feels like 5...cool reaction. If there is something that can be learned from this band, it is to recognize the structures of hard rock and how they change in their segments, and in many songs how they change places ..((like guns and roses..I think the song that you looking for in Dice was You Could be mine).....Akane man...ufff...it must be one of the best female drummers touring right now...has two baseball bats in each hand..and doesn't need more than a basic drum kit with a couple extra symbols. Band-Maid is a great band live. Saw them on Little Pigeon's (Miku) birthday in Dallas. What a blast.
"Call the police Misa's base tone is violent." Yes it is. And it's beautifully violent. Misa Misa Misa is my favorite Bass player.
We also need to call the local Burgermeister to look into Mincho, the mad scientist of riffage. Kanami is monster writing riffs and coming up with a lot of the music. Her mind Frankensteins ideas together and the stitching the band does makes them work.

A double to the official Live Videos " Freedom " and " Donimation " would be cool. No pressure , i am sure you will check them out sooner or later. I know i am annoying 😊 please check out Hanabie ( 花冷え ) written with the Kanji for Cold and an E not Fire (火 ) . Of course no charge for this Lesson 😂 Without being a Smartass , you need to memorize the Hiragana and Katakana Alphabet before moving to Kanjis . Really love your reactions

There is a similar progression between the Dice riff and Runnin Down a Dream but the Dice riff is a hell of a lot more complex. Just try playing them sometime. Good luck bro. Great work as always.
If you learn traditional Japanese you may still have a hard time translating the lyrics, from what I understand they use a lot of a combination of Japanese and English(akin to Spanglish). Great reaction, as mentioned by others there is an official MV for "Different".
In an interview after they released the EP "Unleash!!!!!" they were asked why with 8 songs it was an EP and not an album. The answer was that an album, for them, has to have a theme that the songs fit into. For the album released shortly before this double song video, "Unseen World", there are 2 themes and the original release was on 2 CDs. One for each theme.
The themes are "Gentenkaiki -ban", "looking back at our roots." And "Gentenshinka -ban", "progressing through the current point." Even though both these songs were released originally before "Unseen World", by placing them back to back they too fit into those themes. "Dice" is back to the roots and "Different" did progress into their future sound. "Manners/Black Hole" are from the "Unseen World" album and also fit these themes as you will see eventually.
Edited for clarity. Dice is from the "World Domination" album released 3 years before "Unseen World." "Different" is the title song from a single released 6 weeks before "Unseen World." But their being put together in one video matches the theme from "Unseen World."
Also, you will learn, but "SHUT UP! KANAMI IS SPEAKING!"

If you think this two song are controlled chaos, the maximum expression is "Black Hole" (song from the album "Unseen World"). For me as the songs evolve chaotic , the Saiki´s voice (and Miku sometimes) lead that chaos to something cohesive and digestible.

Yup, watched all 31:10. Yup, two totally different songs ... *"Dice"* is one, *"Different"* is the other. J-LOD is/was a Japanese government program to give assistance to sectors that were struggling during the Covid shutdowns, live music being one of them. One of the requirements was: five minutes long, and Band-Maid doesn't have any recorded song that's five minutes, so they put two songs together. They were both from the "Day of Maid" (May 10th) live stream. *"Different"* was commissioned for opening season three of the anime *"Log Horizon"* and released as a single (their last for the previous label Nippon Crown), and with an instrumental *"Don't Be Long"* as the B side.
MISA is just the perfect bass player. Deep deep groove, and she plays off of Akane (and vice versa) so well.

MISA turned up her distortion for the live. And the studio version has compression on it which squeezes down the mid range, where Miku's vocals and guitar hides out very nice. There have been very long drawn out discussions about the use of compression on the Ladies' songs for the studio releases.
And there is a T-shirt "Shut up, Kanami is speaking" with an outline of Kanami with her guitar upraised. I think you might like it.
My LARGEST complaint is how many times the turn Kanami's mic down and how sometimes you can't hear her backing vocals. I know she used to use her mic to trigger a backing vocal track, but there are other times when you can see her getting slightly upset because her mic is turned down. SS 2022 is one of them. Of course with that performance there were many issues with the sound mixing.
And others have explained Different.
And in Different particularly, you can hear how Miku goes from below Saiki's vocal range to Wayyyyyyyy above it as well.
And you aren't the first reactor to say there's too much. Champ has said it a few times, and on this very same song. And I think in the same spot as well.
However many minutes? 31 minutes and 10 seconds according to the timer.

Feels like I'm being educated, that I'm learning something new, a new perspective. We have all watched these videos many times before, yet this whole reaction feels fresh. Thank you!
I have to say I prefer listening to the live videos, as you can hear all the band members more clearly, save Kanami. Somehow or rather, I have always felt that they pulled back the volume of Kanami's guitar way too low, in order to let Miku (and possibly MISA) be heard more clearly. Most of the time, I'm good with that (like in the case of "Manners/Black Hole" in the same concert), but for Different, it does not quite work out. (For comparison, you would have to check out the MV for Different - by yourself or as a reaction would be your choice of course). Oh, speaking of "Manners/Black Hole", you have not heard real (obedient?) chaos till you hear *that* song ("Black Hole"). 😉
Interestingly, there is a different version of "Different" (geddit, geddit?) that might be difficult to find on RUclips. It's taken from their Acoustic Christmas Concert of 2021, and it presents a very different side to this song (too...many.....puns....stop it Rahim). In that version, only Saiki and Kanami are performing, but it really was done brilliantly. Check it out if you have the time (provided you can find it, of course, possibly on other video sites).

I admire your enthusiasm, but it is best to temper your expectations about learning Japanese. The language is so different from English that you need to completely rewire your brain. A wise man once said, “the only way to become fluent in Japanese is to be raised by a Japanese family, in Japan.”**
