Circumstances are different everywhere, my only question would be is this guy going to school to educate and better himself? The playing house after high school I think was a bad idea, should have waited. I think they should sit down and have a conversation about goals and what they want to accomplish, not just as a couple, but on a personal level. Then make a decision about the relationship.

What's funny is all the men in my family shacked up with their GF, had kids, and are now married. I'm not having kids before marriage or shacking up. Now that I'm in my 30s and have a career I want a husband that I can built with. I also want to find someone with the same morals and values as me. I was thinking I should date long distance and see how it goes. Both my female cousins married guys from different countries. They met them when they went on trips to Jamaica and Africa. I thought it was something fishy at first but it wasn't. They are respected, loved, and cared for.

Well, if you look at sheer statistics, that is not true for most people. Couples who live together before marriage have a higher chance of divorce than couples that do not. My theory on this is when you move in together when married, there is a greater desire to work together and change habits that the other person does not like, exc. You are already married so there is a strong commitment there, unlike with someone you are just dating. Granted, that is just a very basic description of my theory, and it could be wrong.
If we look at the marriage rate and divorce rates historically how common has it been for couples to move in together and since couples have begun moving in together before marriage has that improved the rates of marriages/decrease the rate of divorces?
