Hey Capt my old stompping grounds Mayfair...I went to Lincoln high school the old one that is lol😅 the one your taping is the newly built one. They knocked down the middle school behind it called Austin mehan. Megan. Supposed to be building the new Mayfair school behind it.. the old o e is still standing and in use on Princeton & harthon street but far from Lincoln high. The football team was called the Lincoln Railsplitters!!😅from the time I left Mayfair it was mainly called west Mayfair . Pennypack park was called by many pennypacker park. At Rhawn st just off Rowland ave was a part of Pennypack park called makeout park back in the day all the young people parked your car with the tail lights on making out till the cops came them everyone left or acted like they where just looking into the park lol. 😅 there was Two good restaurants were on 7400 Frankford Ave Pete's restaurant both small Greek restaurant near Tyson Ave the other was called the Phillies restaurant just above Princeton Ave & Frankford Princeton ave...Frankfurt & shelmire was the old jack in the box and buselton and shelmire was as ll... shoprite was there in the 60'sb the pantry pride was thrre then it went back to shoprite 8 years later. There on Frankford & knorr Street.....well with us all Many happy & sad memories in Mayfair for sure 😊. You're right ✅️ chase your dreams!!! Philly Is always inside my heart ❤️ always will. South Jersey Was always called the suburbs of Philadelphia as north jersey is the suburbs of New York Always a pleasure watching 👀 your videos or blogs.God bless 🙌 and be safe 🙏.... until your next !! 🙏
this was so awesome. thanks Captain. that whole section of Pennypack Park was my stomping grounds growing up. grew up in Mayfair. @17:17 - see that little path in the woods there, right before you turned right onto the bridge? If you follow that a little ways, it veers to the right, and you come to the feet of these crazy 30 foot rock cliffs that we'd scale the faces of as roving bands of little kids. _Totally_ dangerous, but that was the glorious 90s. sucks to hear they stopped doing the wednesday night concerts. can't count how many spring and summer nights I enjoyed on the grass with friends and neighbors to hear a different cover band every week - some I remember were cover bands of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath, _really_ great bands were playing there in the 00s to early 2010s. getting drunk ( or myself high more often) with my neighbors, enjoying a show in the woods, then bumbling a few blocks home right down Rhawn street, it was a golden time I didn't realize at the time.. I moved out of Philly a decade ago. I don't really miss what Philly is and has become, but I miss the hell out what it was when I was younger. Great advice btw @21:20 @25:48, if you'd turn right into Pennypack following those tracks, you can walk the tracks and they cross over a bridge about a half-mile down the line. Pretty crazy to walk across it as a kid with the big gaps between the train track boards, you look down and it's like a 30 foot drop to the water below. My dad use to hop the trains that ran on that track when he was a kid. Steve's Bugoff Closed?! Wtf! That's crazy to hear what they did before moving out. I applied for a job as a tour guide there when I was 15 and _got_ the job but wound up never going, lol. Whoops.
My dad went to Lincoln high school while they were filming a scene for one of the rocky movies and they made such a big deal about it. Certain part of the school were blocked off. The movie comes out and Lincoln high school was only in the movie for a couple of seconds.
The scene you referred to in Rocky 3 with the band, if you look close for a split second the white drum has Mr. T’s signature on it. Tough to read but it’s there. Just an FYI, love your vids Capt!
Just a heads up. YT wants me to rate you on this video. The last time that happened, for someone else, I gave a good review and they made it harder to see the vids. So I didn't respond to it. I think you pushed their buttons yesterday.
My family use to go to Mayfair bakery all the time. They made some of the best pound cake. Recently pizza city on Frankford avenue sold it business to new owners. So far the quality of the food is still the same. Now they have a credit card machine.

Pennypack Music Festival left the park because the city made it difficult to get permits.

The oldest bridge thing is awesome. American history I didn't know
Before I almost died and had a brain aneurysm I used to fix ATMs and had keys to all sorts of banks all over Philadelphia and surrounding counties

I’m surprised it’s not a shortage of that tape
Nice tour of our city.
The old “little city”
September/October is a good time to visit Fort Mifflin. Good weather and not too crowded
The Wawa's on Market were closed because of the kids and the homeless.
