Shyam falls in love with Radha, they get into a clandestine marriage. But Shyam is coerced by his family to marry Meera and then Shyam ends up marrying Meera. Time passes by and Radha gives birth to a boy. Meera gets to know this. She brings the baby home lying to Shyam that the kid is hers. Shyam does not know that it’s actually his kid and begins to hate both Meera and the kid. Eventually Shyam and Radha meet again and old sparks are re-ignited. Very nice movie. Pran ji's acting is superb. He was such a good actor. So good to see Nanda ji, Nazima ji, and Tabassum ji. Songs are very good. Reminded me of my young age when I used to sing these songs. रेखा ओ रेखा जबसे तुझे देखा...it was such fast paced funny song. Plus कई माने या ना माने....!! Ashok Kumar ji was very good as always. Shyam is a weakling and good for nothing human being. Both Radha and Mira were sensible and good human beings. The whole problem arose with Shyam. He was terrible to Radha for ruining her life as a single mother and abandoning her on other people's words. He was terrible to Mira also for treating her horribly and his own son. Both ladies would have been better off without him. He ruined their lives. In the end neither Radha, or Mira love him so why is he being forced on either one of them by the parents.

*REVIEW:* - An adopted nephew Shyam (Deb Mukherjee) of a wealthy barrister Mr. Shukla (Ashok Kumar) indulges in indecent and crude conduct harassing women with inappropriate advances, then claims to fall in love with an innocent woman Radha (Nazima). He then surreptitiously entraps her by luring her into a compromising situation. He tells her that she is her first and only love and in order for her to believe and trust him, he takes a wow of Bhagavan that she is his forever and then lets loose his passions of lust. Later he scoots off to London for higher studies leaving behind an impregnated Radha.
Returning from London, Shyam is unable to locate Radha and hears slanderous gossip about her from neighbors. Even Radha’s wretched step-mother doesn’t come to her defense and instead vilifies and denigrates the reputation of Radha. Meanwhile, Shyam’s father (Barrister uncle) coaxes him to marry the beautiful Meera (Nanda). At first Shyam is unwilling but when Meera confronts Shyam, at that very moment, he becomes oblivious of his wows to Bhagavan and deliberately turns credulous, ready to believe the ill repute of Radha without any real evidence. He quickly agrees to marry Meera.
But past actions always come back to haunt. Some decisions made can have dire consequences that will follow for the rest of the life. *Also as Sri Krishna says in the Bhagavad-Gita, Chapter 3, Karma Yoga, Verse 37: It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath.* As soon as the wedding ceremonies are over, on the night of “Suhaag Raat”, Meera drops a bombshell which actually is the defining moment of the film and which sends Shyam and his relations into a vortex of cataclysmic family disruption. The rupture is so great that all the evil traits like deception, falsity, lies, treachery, deceit, betrayal and all the baser instincts of a human being manifests itself including sexual assault and almost physical destruction.
The film has a well written script and S.M. Sagar has directed the film magnificently. The performance of all artists is wonderful. Nazima has the role of a lifetime. Nanda is very mature and Ashok Kumar with polished finesse. Deb Mukherjee is so realistic that one actually begins to hate him. Meanwhile Rajnish who plays the role of Rajan Shukla, and Pran (Banne Mia) have also performed flawlessly. This exciting serious social drama is pretty enthralling and you will be glued to your seat often wondering what will happen next. The tempo is medium paced but the film is quite enjoyable.
