I remember in season 1 Rick wondered if we'd get a backstory on Jack's tattoos and I was like "Yep. And its' terrible". 😂 I do think guest star this episode Bai Ling is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen.
Fringe and LOST are my most fav series of all time. Hands down. I love revisiting the reactions for the sake of "seeing it for the first time" melancholy. What a treat.
I think 'Fringe' had a better run as well, though that last season... Part of me wants to like it, because it's not bad. But it was a departure from how the rest of the series felt. Won't say more in case Blind Wave decide to hit it too.
@@kereminde Both series went underrated, but considering quality of the content Fringe was more enjoying for me. But damn, LOST is one of the deepest shit ever. I hate that the most of the fans didnt get the point of the show.
@@janurbanek8577 I don't think "the point of the show" is what people think it is. And by that I mean... I think LOST is many different things, depending on what you like in it. And similarly, it's disappointing depending on what you like in it. The "mystery box" aspect. The extended games the production team set up outside the show to sort of play around with people wanting to solve puzzles. The interaction of characters stuck together in a place they can't (or won't) readily leave. People coming to grips with their inner demons, or defying them. There's a lot of things here to like, and in each case there's strong parts and weak parts. For me I liked the show because I would have people I watched it with and discussed matters with as the show unfolded. THAT... is a major thing a lot of people have over any television show, to meet up and just go: "Hey did you see LOST last night? That was some crazy shit." ... but once the show's over, the magic's not there anymore. You start to notice things a lot easier, stop getting lost in the feeling of being together. That's how you get a lot of people who go "I used to love the show" and now see it as "meh". (I have that relationship with Star Trek TOS and TNG, honestly.) But I do stand by one particular thing. One way or another, the strength of LOST is in the characters... not the "plot" or the mystery. It's in how the characters act, even Kate who can't make up her damn mind.
I swore I'd never watch this episode again. But for Rick's first watch through, it had to be done. Having him and Eric there definitely helped. Flashbacks were still as painful as ever though.
They literally reveal The Rules of Ben and Widmore which were referred to in a later season in this episode, yet people ludicrously spent seasons theorizing about it because people like you never rewatched this episode. Perfect example of an underrated episode where people are so focused one thing or small negatives of an individual episode that the show's big answers fly right over right over their heads.
Damn, I was hoping to see the whole "he walks among us, but he is not one of us"..."that's what they say...that's not what they mean" exchange! Great reaction either way for sure though as always!
What they really mean’t was in the big picture it didn’t really connect. Obviously they told the story because they were about times he was a stranger in a strange land, but they weren’t impactful as to the island or anything else.
@@john.c.munoz04 Not true at all. The big picture majorly connects. Jack has a connection with someone who knows the person he really is. People with "supernatural or mystical gifts/powers" occur often in the flashbacks and she is one of them. What she says about him comes true on the island, very much so in future Seasons. What she says about him is what he is throughout the whole show. It's extremely relevant. Also, it's revealed that The Others do not kill each other, and there are SERIOUS consequences for those who murder their own. There's a reason we have the scene's of Tom wondering why the hell Jack thinks "the others" are so evil, why Cindy asks how Ana Lucia's doing. The others as a whole are completely ignorant of how their actions appear to outsiders, most I bet have no idea about the bad things a few of them have done to our Losties. As far as they're concerned they weren't kidnapping children, they were rescuing them from island beach starvation from strangers in secret during the night hoping no one would wake up. Just like in all societies, the homeland never REALLY knows what happens in war. Ana and Eko killed some of them, that's what stands out. This episode has some fantastic psychology and perspective analysis that nobody ever talks about.
The island storyline isn’t too bad but the flashbacks are boring and confusing. I like that episodes like this created the decision to end the show properly.
No that decision happened long before this episode. It was only ANNOUCED just before this episode aired. They must've reached that deal months before this.
If the entire final few flashback scenes was scraped and made different, getting rid of the weird spiritual bs of the tatoo. Maybe instead she decides to give him the tatoo because she decides she wants to open up to him but he pushes her away because hes still torn up over his ex which can then transfer into the scene of the guys beating him up. But the whole flash back sequence is a flawed idea from the start. It shouldn't have been about the tatoo but instead about Jack's grief.
I love ya’ll but you’re killing me with these slow lost drops haha , im addicted I need rick to watch like an episode a day 😂 really excited for the rest of the s3 episodes , it was one of my favourite seasons from the show
This is one of the worst episodes of the show, in my opinion. Especially coming right after Flashes Before Your Eyes, wich is one of the most interesting and engaging of LOST.
Nothing new to say on this infamous episode. The on island parts are fine minus one character. Spy Jack? More like stalker Jack. I find his yelling at Cindy both entertaining and disturbing.
@@Mike-nz2lw Can't say I ever did especially since they are Matthew Fox's real tattoos. It is very ironic though that he has a number 5 and Jack counts down to 5 when he's scared. If I remember listening to the Pilot commentary they already had that written before Matthew Fox was cast.

5:43-5:48 That's how I respond to people who talk trash about Lost. lol
"If you've got something to watch, then go watch it! Go!"
It's obvious why this episode was received so badly: no appearance from either Nikki OR Paulo. Clearly the writers don't know what the fans want.
I can’t stand this episode, or anything connected to Nikki and Paulo.
I've been really enjoying your comments the last few weeks 😂
The lack of Razzle Dazzle is palpable.
the whole show is bad, the final season picks up

The irony being that Matthew's tattoo are actually very meaningful to him 🤣
I fucking love prisoner Jack, he's just so done and I'm here for it 😄
So much quintessential Jack-face this episode. Oh he big mad. 😡

Come back with Sayid! What's the two of you gonna do? - That cracked me up. So good.

Their editor for LOST..... just sucks.
The whole ending sequence with Ocean’s Apart was a beautiful scene. Michael Giacchino killed it with her music cue
If I remember correctly my favorite episode next week with Hurly!
How is it not connected? He's a stranger in a strange land, both in flashback and the now among the Others.

The "Put it on me." is always so icky.
While the flashback isn’t that compelling, I love the beginning of Jack and Juliet’s relationship here
So much stuff in this episode that ends up having no bearing on anything. Not terrible but irrelevant in the big picture.
Looks like Rick forgot Kate spent 3 summers crewing J boats. Kate has more experience.
in quebec they call them "talkie walkies".
Downhill is bad because it means decline, uphill is bad because it means struggle. Basically there are no good hills.
