In October of 2022, I ran several polls asking YOU about Object Shows - Your favorite genres, your ideal cast size, and a boatload of other questions that, when put together, would create the “perfect object show”
After analyzing every poll, one thing became very clear:
There is ONE perfect object show.
Starting with the bare bones - YOU all voted that a cast should range from 13 - 18 contestants, the show SHOULD go by an acronym, and your favorite genre was COMEDY!!! Right then and there, that slashed several object shows from the running, including BFDI, Object Overload, and Inanimate Insanity II - all shows that I believed were near perfect for object shows.
You also voted that characters and competition need to be intertwined with alliances and friendships, that the characters were the most important part of the show, episodes should be between 13 - 17 minutes on average, and that you preferred when creators put in a lot of thought and planning.
Finally, you voted that an object show should come out monthly. Very, very few object shows have ever come out monthly, so this removed almost every single show from the list.
Except one.

I love Antony's work and especially BOTO! I remember when it first debuted in 2013, I was so happy that the 2011-fan-art winner was getting to work on his own object show :D
i also think it's clever the way you narrowed the pool of object shows by asking those polls and having viewers vote. It's like applying math to something that seems subjective!
100% BOTO is such a perfect encapsulation of the 2013-era while still living up to its name today!! And yeah, I really wanted to do something with all the polls and I thought this would be the most fun way to use all the numbers!

I just finished BOTO yesterday, and immediately fell in love with it. It's amazing how much lore and work was put into the characters and backstory. It's awesome.

BOTO was the first object show I ever watched. I didn’t even know it was a genre at that point, but it got me into BFDI and the OSC. I always felt like it stood out being one of the best, and I’m glad to see that statistics agree

I watched brawl of the objects shortly after I started watching object shows in late 2019. I really got hooked into BOTO and to this day it is one of my favorite object shows.
BOTO being the perfect object show was so unexpected, i love BOTO but i also preffer other objects shows such as ONE and AIB

BOTO is by FAR one of my favorite object shows, so this was amazing to see. The incredibly fun characters, the genuinely interesting lore that doesn't interfere with the show itself... I've loved it since the first time I saw it. No wonder it is, as it fits the criteria for perfection.
Nothing in life is perfect but you can’t go wrong with your own show Griffin. There are so many object shows out there with so many different styles. It’s amazing
I thought you were gonna use this as a platform to promote THREEEE, but BOTO is probably one of the best object shows out there
I made a tweet about this object show. It's one of my all time favourites and as you said, hits all the right points.
Doesn't try too hard to be simplistic or really lore relying heavy. It's a good balanced show with smart writing that uses a good mix of comedy and a sense of mystery. A small voice cast really did the trick and it was usually a really fun and wholesome show, with few serious moments. The serious moments however do really stick.
Anyway, BOTO is really one of the best ones out there if I'm being perfectly honest. But it's only an opinion and I'm sticking with it
HELL YEAH BOTO FOR THE WIN! I think it might’ve also been the first Canadian Object Show since Ankos from Canada (if I recall). So yeah, that’s some interesting trivia!
BOTO is great, but I prefer Inanimate Insanity Invitational for the following reasons:
- 18 players is a great cast size. Not shrimpy like BFBFBFDI, but not over-the-top like BFBFDI.
- Every character has such a distinct and fleshed-out personality. Even Box is fun to watch!
- The use of player votes really helps to deepen arcs without interruptions, and the way most of the eliminations are orchestrated in such a way that it comes down to a one-vote difference is crispamundo!
- Two rejoins is the perfect number for the cast size. If I were to do a similar show I'd put them after eliminations 6 and 12, but here they're placed so that more time is used on the players that are still in without others suddenly getting in the way.

@@themightygallium9509 like new characters appearing that don’t really fit with ii’s original style, iii not even being like the original like they were supposed to make it, and things about the original characters that just look like it would belong in someone’s head canon than actually in the story.
In my opinion, out of all the object shows out there, my favourite object show BY FAR is ONE. ONE has amazing lore, amazing characters, amazing backstory, and amazing secrets, although ONE is a serious object show, there is still some comedy like airy saying: "whippy creamy.". ONE is the best object show in my opinion and I will never forget this object show.

ONE is a good show, but I think it’s more of a standalone thing than what an object show is. It doesn’t really capture the essence of an object show, but is still my third favorite
Not a huge fan of object show lore but the BOTO lore and rooks backstory I always really liked, by far my favorite lore and one of the best object shows overall and the final 5 finale was actually handled really well!

My favorite object shows are AIB, II, BFDI, BOTO, AND EE
BOTO is such a great object show, it was one of the first ones I ever watched and the sad part is I never really see many people talk about it, BOTO is criminally underrated

My personal favorite object shows are threee, tnm, and ii probably, they are all so fun and enjoyable :3 (it took me like a week or two to binge watch all three seasons of excellent entities, I was able to watch all tnm episodes in two days, and ii took a few months because I paused because tbh the first season was a little janky and boring, but I’m glad I watched the rest because it’s a really good show)
at the risk of sounding like a contrarian, I have some criticisms here. this is a cool experiment, but I feel like there were some pretty big oversights here.
you should've definitely asked us about what our preferred method of voting is. I enjoy object shows with contestant voting _much_ more than ones with viewer voting. it's one of the biggest dealbreakers for me. another poll could ask about whether or not we care about high production values (i.e. animation, audio, visuals, voice acting). these two questions feel a lot more important than some of the ones you asked, like the acronym question. and some of your questions definitely could've had "all are good" or "I have no opinion" options.
those missed opportunities aside, I don't think BOTO clears all your established criteria. I feel like it focuses significantly more on the competition and challenge aspects than the characters, who are all rather basic and clearly not the focal point of the show. (hell, someone in the comments of that very poll said they like BOTO for the challenges and not the characters). so I sense some bias in your conclusion here. and it also has _major_ audio issues lol. like good lord it's a total assault on the ears if you're wearing headphones. I don't think it's aged super well, and it certainly doesn't belong in the "perfect object show" conversation by any means.
on that note, at what point did II3 get eliminated? the only criteria it doesn't follow is the episode length, which is sightly longer than average, but it still has multiple episodes that fall into the desired range. and one criteria slightly missed is still a better result than BOTO, which widely missed the mark on one criteria.
I indeed was surprised because BOTO is definitely one of the greatest object shows but it honestly ranks somewhere around Object Overload.

Hello, so you said you could do voices very well? Maybe someday you could do a suggested voice lines video, that is, people could recommend characters for you to give voices to. I personally would recommend Rakham from Skinchange by Rick Griffin, he is such a cute little boi.
That's a good choice to do Brawl Of The Objects. Although I'd go with BFDI Season 4.

I was not surprised, I started watching BOTO back in 2020, and it was phenomenal! I was just nodding my head with everything Webz said! BOTO is by far, one of the best object shows out there!

no! boto was literally the best thing that i’ve ever watched. the characters were so charming, the lore of rook was beautifully out together and animated, and the episodes challenges weren’t cliche and were actually new ideas that you didn’t see prior to the show (like battle monsters). anko did great with that show!
@Elijah-bv2my no, i was there for it as well. i actually was there when the ending of the show premiered live! one is excellent too, i just don’t interact with the osc anymore to remember. BUT, that being said, one is a cinematic masterpiece. the show is so easy to rewatch and be shocked again and again, even if you know the outcome. i just forgot to talk about it!
The only object shows where I watched it's episodes in full were Pre-Split BFB (sans most of the earlier episodes), all of Post-Split BFB and all of Inanimate Insanity Invitational (so far). I probably remember watching the first episodes of BFDI and BFDIA (and partially most of BFDIA 5 and IDFB) when I was a kid. For their other seasons and episodes, as well as various other object shows, I either never watched it, watched only half or nearly all of it (like skipping parts) or watched one of more clips of it.
I plan on one day exploring the OSC further like seeing more of their incredible creations, as I thought I felt a little overwhelmed on the inside while doing that. I didn't really knew much about BFDI and II until now. Hopefully BOTO might be the best one on my list.

What I want to see from an object show is does it have an ending? After seeing BFDIA not finishing I kind of didn’t watch that many object shows unless they blew up because I don’t enjoy seeing something interesting only to find out that it never ends

this is so unexpected !! boto was the perfect object show and was the first one i watched !! i was in love with scissors, rook and baguette because the thought of an object speaking a different language meant so much to me !!!! sadly tho it was all an act , but the show was honestly so good in general :)
Hey webzforevz! What advice would you give to people who are struggling to come up with a objectshow because of imposter syndrome because I struggle a lot with thinking my animations are not good enough and how to prevent comparing myself to others, i think my animation is good but when i look at season 2 of inanimate insanity or other peoples smooth animation, it's hard to animate without all those thoughts stuck in my head thinking i have to be better, it's not imposter syndrome or anything it's just like a subtle variation of it. Love to see your feedback!
I understand that completely! What I recommend is knowing that even myself, and even animators like XanyLeaves or Highvan, or even Michael Huang feel this way all the time. We compare and compare but comparing doesn't really help like you said. What you need to focus on is comparing yourself to YOU. Always look back and see how far you've come - that should be the motivation you need to keep going!

When I first came across BOTO, I loved it. I was at a time where I just couldn’t stick with a show long enough after the first episode (this almost made me not watch HFJONE), but for some odd reason, I never got bored of BOTO even if it had bad animation at the start (what made me almost not watch II1 and BFDI). It was funny, simple, bad and very cute with such good lore, not obvious but really cool. So yeah if any of you haven’t watched it, uh, WATCH IT.

OuX ! I Watched BOTO A Few Months Ago. Unfortunately, I Couldn't Understand Some Phrases Because:
1- I watch with subtitles because I don't understand English very well
2- Automatic Subtitles Don't Always Write What The Character Says
I Think The Lack Of Original Subtitles From The Author Is A Pretty Serious Problem For An OSC Who Doesn't Know Or Doesn't Understand English Very Well. Like Me
I would of had The 13-18 be 11-20. It wouldn’t matter as far as I know. BFDI Episodes are too short and II2 Has a Worse Schedule then TPOT had before TPOT 4.
Edit: I think III( Inanimate Insanity Invitational) Could Fit. Length: about 15 minutes. Cast Size: 18. And it Still Comes out about once a month.
AIB and One are the best object shows. Change my mind.
