    It was a big project as this was a big build (6x3) but the end result is phenomenal and eye catching, billy is a 2 year old leopard tortoise and loves climbing and eating 😂, this new indoor tortoise table will provide him with more room and more area to climb. Thank ya’ll so much for the continuous support on both platforms instagram and here on youtube if you’re new to my channel there is a beautiful red button that says subscribe and a grey like button and if you press it changes color!!

    Great set up and video!! What do you keep the humidity at? Do you mist the enclosure?
    My leopard tortoises shell is starting to pyramid. I believe it’s because of lack of humidity as a hatchling. Not sure though.
    Billy has a beautiful shell!

    • @tortoisegeneral
      @tortoisegeneral  Год назад +1

      Hi Christine, i don’t monitor the humidity, i do mist the enclosure slightly each morning this is mainly for the plants, leopard tortoises are African species of tortoises so humidity at around 30-40% is ideal but this depends on the age if its a baby or hatchling I would recommend 70%, but humidity is not the main culprit of pyramiding, i would say there is too much protein in its diet as this causes extra growth rings.

      Having the food on the slate is probably keeping impaction from happening. Imagine if he just ate all his food from off the sand, as opposed to eating plant matter suspended from plants, as he would in the wild. @@Ly-1998 No problem is was a newbie to and i had the same dilemma! With tortoises especially if you are going for a hatchling so baby tortoise its quite difficult to determine the gender you can look at the plastron and tail length but normally sex is determined when tort reaches 5 years, when it comes to what gender is best for beginners it honestly doesn’t matter i wanted a boy but got a girl and It doesn’t really matter, males might get a little pacey once they reach sexual maturity they may mate with any object to simulate breeding but gender of tort’s doesn’t really effect difficulty they are all pretty much the same to care for females do get slightly larger though! I honestly recommend keeping 1 tort since it’s your first time and you can always upgrade your tort army as you get more experience! Hope this helps!

Their sand isn’t picky also they don’t have food bowls they eat insect straight out the ground with dirt and sand. Tortoise is cute though, but that hyper Rap music at the beginning just ruin it all. I'm not saying that hip/hop or rap music is not good, I love them. I'm saying that this music does not fit on your video at all. Maybe you can try some smoother or bossa-nova track on your next video, or even classical music.
