You think so ? A lot of people say head movement I do a lot of footwork drills and still find people telling me to focus on head movement even though I’m pivoting, changing angles, and keeping distance
I always try this in sparring. Have to have pretty good timing to just pull it out of your ass in an exchange. When you do manage to pull it off you feel like Canelo
Head off the line and head will follow, that’s something no coach has ever been able to say. This may not have been as useful for everyone else as much me but this is very good information.
This would be WAAAAAY down on the list of techniques the average person should care about or even bother learning. If you're dodging punches with this technique, this means you've mastered all the more practical and easier to implement techniques, because something like this will break down under pressure and will not be your "go to" technique precisely because it's so complex and impractical.
@@Itsalright61honestly not really, don’t get me wrong I do it and I love it. But you could quite literally never do THIS SPECIFIC pivot and be just fine your entire boxing career at the highest level. It’s just not necessary. The better pivots are pendulum steps used by Loma and eastern euros. This pivot is great but it’s honestly just good for escapes, occasional position advantages, and looking cool
I always pivot on the rear leg with that scenario. I just feel more comfortable doing it that way although i know im not in a position to counter once ive spun out
I did a pivot like this when a pitbull tried to attack me. It would lunge at me, I'd pivot out and then kick him in the head. I did this about 6 times and he gave up and took off. I think my kicks annoyed him more than hurt him though. LOL
That's more of a Cuban/Soviet Technique...Pivoting off the lead leg...where's American/UK Pivots using the rear leg. When I first saw the lead pivot; Def fell in love with it...Tho it was a bit odd to Drill at first for me.
You can throw a lead hook during the turn to body or wherever. But head makes more sense cause you can control your opponent. It’s called a “cuba/Soviet” step check hook uses this exact movement. Some of the best users are Terence Crawford and Floyd. Most famous example was from Floyd v Hatton imo. Your throw it during the 1st phase(left foot out) Punch lands when your foot lands. Pivot out. You can also just use the hook to push the opponent past you(Crawford v Porter)
You can step with the right foot out and it will take your whole body to that side. Leave your left foot where it’s at and throw your right hand and step out to the right at the same time. It’s not so much of a pivot as it is a side step. Same concept, slightly different outcome.
The explaining is good, but as a beginner I want to SEE how it is done. This clip only showed just once what he is talking about. I need to see more than just 2 seconds.
Are you a southpaw? This’ll work to evade and orthodox’s right hand or lead hook. As you step, underhook and push with your lead arm to gain acceleration. Lol Terence Crawford absolutely abuses this maneuver when in southpaw v aggressive opposition, often hooking during. Study Crawford v Porter! Round4 @ :32 is about as good as it gets.
Finally someone to explain using pivot
Go too a boxing gym and they pretty much teach you every pivot in book, following boxingbros ngl there best on yt for boxing tutorials and tips

Probably the most valuable skill you can learn in any martial art. Practice this thousands of times until it becomes reflex
Great explanation on why & how to use this defensive move. Thank you
Great foot work drill thanks for the tip .
In addition to learning about the pivot, diggin the shot of the Haitian flag 🇭🇹💪🏾
I like it !

Joe Louis boxed like this.

Hey maybe you can use it and then the opponent feels that "nah man this guy looks professional, I should not mess" and the fight's over
exactly too many people learn to pivot just to pivot so they can look cool shadowboxing

Great explanation of this technique!
That was smooth I like that a lot, so that's how you pivot thank you kind sir. I'm not a boxer but great tip to learn
So explain the pivot but track the camera away from seeing it fluid. Nice camera action.

Pivoting towards a power shot.....it seems like you'd want to avoid that. Shows you what I know.

Just seems to leave him a bit wide on his stance not sure how I’d feel about that

Can you throw a bodyshot while doing a pivot or after you did it?
That’s rare. Likely not with your lead hand before or after. An uppercut or straight from the power side is usually after the pivot.
