That’s the goal! Glad you think so! 🙏🏾
These aren’t shots filmmakers fall back on. These are just the basic shots. Everyone uses these.
Thanks for making this short and concise. Too many videos like this that are 20-30 minutes long.
Glad you enjoyed it! I try to keep my videos under 10 mins
@@DwayneDurant as I’ve been watching shows I’ve been noticing the change between the types of shots. This video conceptually has all of them in my opinion. A few exceptions but 90% of shots in most shows are these 7
This video is AMAZING!! Thank you so much for dropping this gem for us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I fell like I just went to film school here!. Very helpful in framing a current project...Thanks!

Thank you 🙏🏾 More otw
Thank you bro! Subbed ❤
No problem 👍🏾
Shoot wiiiiiiiide. Look at deakins work. The closes he likes is 40ish mm. The rest is wide.
i prefer 50 to 58mm...
I’ll have to take a look at some of Deakins work. Thanks for the suggestion!
I’m a sucker for a 50mm lens 😭
You know you don’t have to do everything Roger Deakins does, right?
@@DwayneDurant 100%
Great 👍🏻
Thanks ✌🏾
Bruh this video 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🙏🏾
Excellent. Very informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! 🫡
Great value !
I appreciate it 🙏🏾
Good job man! Wouldve added Inserts myself but a great list overall! Would love to see you use these in a scene
Thanks! Check out my latest video, You’ll see some of the shots used there.
I think he covered inserts by their "framing size" as opposed by shot type - he gave examples of insert shots in their usual framings as Close Up and Extreme Close Up.
@@foljs5858 Ohhh… I misread that. I thought he was saying he wanted me to insert shots of myself instead of using actually films. Now I see that he was talking about “Insert Shots”. Yes you’re right I grouped “Insert shots” with “close up shots” and “extreme close up shots”
Nice, clear & concise 💯
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video dude, thanks!
No problem!
This video helps me alot
That’s what I’m here for! 💪🏾
Great content man!
Thanks!
So good! Pet peeve when film scripts fill in too many details, like a location! Oh by the way 😂
Right?! Show don’t tell!
My perfect "Terror" shot is from the original "Aliens" movie (1979). Apparently some movie-goers ran out of the Cinema. Now that is profound. There was the mystery of the demon, without actually seeing it. Terror in the Dark. That is how to make a movie. Imply.
Wonderful & insightful video brother thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Man, this is elite content! Keep going 🌟
I appreciate that! Will do! 🔥
Loved this one bro 🔥
Thank you! 🙏🏾
Very helpful! Thank you for your effort❤ could you make a video of what kind of lens (mm) are used for each kind of shot ..only if it’s possible..
I think I can make that happen….we’ll see. Thanks for the support!
WOW. Thank you man :)
No problem! 😉
Good stuff. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good work man 👍👍👍👍

Oh my god this one was worth watching!!!it's true horror!!I really enjoyed it
Glad you liked it!
Awesome! Thanks so much, that was awesome. Loved the quality of shots you used in your descriptions too (plus the lighting on them!).
Subbed! 🤩🙌
Out of curiosity, coming from a photography background, the term ‘macro’ can seem to often get confused with ‘ability to close focus’. Originally ‘macro’ denoted the size the image would be projected out the back of the lens onto the film (or a digital sensor) compared to the size of the original object.
(A ‘1x Macro lens’ would be able to project the image the exact same size the object was, onto the film plate or digital sensor (allowing it to be printed or viewed at a much larger than life like size - hence being called ‘Macro’ or ‘Large’ lens. (Macro lenses (in photography) are sometimes described as 1x - 5x, meaning how big the projection of the image is compared to the size of the original object) - hence small things being able to be seen very large in the end product). - Macro Lenses in photography are sort of closer to a microscope lenses in what they do.
Out of curiosity is this the same in video/videography/cinematography, or does the term ‘macro’ simply mean, close up/detail, or is the term ‘macro’ different when talking about types of shots as when talking about lenses?
Thanks so much again. Loved it!
Thanks for the support!
To answer your question In videography, "macro" usually means the same thing as in photography: it refers to lenses that allow extreme close-ups, capturing small subjects in great detail. However, it can also be used more broadly to describe any detailed, close-up shot, even if a true macro lens isn't used.
Well elaborated
Thanks
Great work
Thank you!
Succinct and spot on bro 🎯 Earned a new sub.
Thanks and welcome!
Thanks
No problem
If I'm not mistaken. The scene on the number 5 the OTS shoot almost at the end is from the movie "Amores Perros" correct?
That’s right! Good catch 😉
great video brother
Glad you liked it 🔥
Very good and informatic
Thanks 🙏🏾
Informative not infomatic
Cool 😎 cinematic greetings from an older german RUclips filmmaker
Thanks 🙏🏾
where you get this all effects from
It’s a mix of different plugins and packs. Tropic color and MotionVFX are the two I predominantly use.
Sweet vid bro, I’ll help on that quest to 1k ;) subbed! 👌🏼
Thanks! I checked out some of your content. Great content, keep it up!
♥
awesome
Thanks
To fake the macro shot you can get a diopter and it does a good job
Yes! You can buy “Macro Extension tubes” on Amazon they’re real cheap and they work great!
👌🏾👌🏾
FX30 18mm?
Loved the content. If you were to start cinematography, which camera could be your choice to buy? ( under 1000$ )
I’m a Sony guy, but the Canon r10 is under $1k. You get 10-bit 4k video. Plus you can shoot in 60fps
I will say the lenses selection isn’t that great for Canons APSC line. If you save a little extra money you can pick up the Sony a6700 for $1.4k, and even cheaper on the used market. Sigma has some great lenses for Sony APSC
@@DwayneDurant I appreciate your help sincerely 🙏
Since I haven't had a camera before and it's my first one, would it be a smart move to throw 1.4k at a camera without lenses? Would it be a good idea to purchase the older models like a6400? Is it a good hybrid camera ?
Whats the best dreaming filter on capcut?
I’m not sure. I don’t really use CapCut 🤔
@@DwayneDurant what you use?
SHOTS
Thanks, good catch 👍🏾
Telephotooooo
One of my favorites as well!
You've got a sub from me 👍
Thank you! 🙏🏾
Bro is the black messiah
