honestly, I've seen other first wins before for other groups but very few have left an impact on me quite like SVT's first one. Just by their stage outfits you can tell how little money they had, they're just wearing regular clothes, they don't have any fancy equipment at all, they had such a humble beginning. When you're a non big 3 group, even that first win can take so long to get, there's no safety net when your company's struggling financially. I'm so so proud of them!!
These are those days when they had to use their own earphones to perform on stage. Im so proud of what they had become. And for sure SEVENTEEN WILL BE THE NEXT BIG THING.

This maybe too late but I just wanted to add. The 3 leaders, yes, we know the reason why they cried. HE wrote and composed their group's songs ever since the start, at the same time, carrying the burden and worrying that if he failed to write a good song, then he failed his team, his friends. With that, he made every masterpiece as perfect as possible, embarked with their group's own color. HE made every choreography as good and unique as possible. Made sure that everything is as good as perfect. Along with his team, they made SVT a group where their dance is something you have to look forward to. HE lead a group of 12 young boys at such a young age. He protected and cared for these boys just like his own brothers. Even if he had done so much to keep the team, he still blames himself whenever something goes wrong. But there's someone we forgot. Why did he cry anyway? Well, we know how soft-hearted HE is. But, you think he was coined as the Variety Star of the group for nothing? In every show, he mustered all his courage and stood up for his members. As they were likely unknown at the start, he made sure that SVT will stand out. And with his 'variety skills', they actually did. This is still the most beautiful and most iconic win of SVT. I'm glad I stanned the right group.

Okay stop I cried reading this comment. Like with the video, I was already on the verge of tears but reading the comment just made me sob. I’m a new carat (only been for like a month but have listened to nearly every single one of their songs and have watched a lot of content. Yes I’m addicted) but I love these boys so much. They bring so much joy into my life. I think we all stanned the right group together (though I’m a bit late).
I've got to say, I am super super touched and impressed by Jeonghan's actions during their first win. When Seungcheol gave the mic to Hoshi, the shock of winning and the unexpectedness of having to speak first made him speechless; however, while others were still under the shock, you can see Jeonghan behind Hoshi whispering and telling him what he should say and who he should include in his Thank You speech (like you can read his lips at 4:51 when he says "carat"). It's only during their encore that he silently goes to the back (7:10) and finally allows himself a moment to let out the waterworks or, at least, to just take a moment to calm down. This speaks volume about what kind of person he is and the role he plays within the team, and I couldn't be any prouder of him.
Yeah, it strikes me too and I'm so proud of him. In his speech, it's rushed and you can hear the tightness in his voice but he does it anyway since the others members are down for the count at the moment. And then, when everyone is starting to get their bearings back, he finally goes to the back and takes a moment for himself. Meanwhile I'm crying as hell while watching this video two years after the actual win, on a computer screen. I'm so impressed how he managed to hold it off like this ^^

yessss! they all depend on Woozi bc he's the one that makes the music. I think he said it once, it was too much pressure bc the future of 12 other boys depends on him! Same for Hoshi since he makes the choreos. He has to find that exact move that will make everyone crazy and he also has to coordinate each member. And last but not least, Coups. He is the leader of svt he has to guide and care for them and that's definitely a hard work. They have the right to take it more personal and directly. I'm so proud of them :') and for Seungkwan, well, besides of always being emotional he really works hard, he has an amazing voice and he makes really really hight notes too and as you said: they know that all their work and stress finally paid off.
I agree with you and I also think the weight was lifted from Seungkwan too since he gets as much expection like the leaders because he's the main vocal. Imagine having to do those high notes on each performance. I remember from their Seventeen Project, their vocal trainer was always hard on Seungkwan because he wants him to take care of his voice and not to strain it too much.
I just realized how they don't have their own in-ear monitors during that time and still slayed the performance. Everyone can tell they're not lip synching 🥺 I felt really bad not stanning them during that time 💔 Nonetheless, I still have a lot of time to do so and I will always cheer and support for this guys❤️🥺

really late to this, had no idea they won!!! Seriously though, S.Coups, Woozi, and Hoshi I completely expected to break down. Like: Woozi produces all of their songs. He's done a great job up until now and this is basically his reward, and since he felt the burden of being a producer in the sense that if the songs failed he failed seventeen, it makes sense that his hard work and true dedication paid off. S.coups is the leader of this wonder band of brothers, so he has to make sure everything is rolling, everything is good, everyone is happy and healthy, and that the members are basically better than good enough to perform excessively well. This is his reward too. Hoshi is their choreographer. Serious props to that guy, that choreo is some catchy stuff, watched it back to back many times for da lols. Even with his recent choreo his work is insane, all performances are lively, with stuff happening all the time, its like a story. This is his reward for making a fantastic performance from Woozi's song. Seriously, I wish them more rewards. I'm not a CARAT or anything but knowing this I really hope they win more in the future. They deserve it. Not many idol groups do this much work on their own, and so quickly too, like theyve been out for what, 1 yearish? Theyve already pumped out 4 hit singles, and solid albums. REALLY wish these guys all the best, they work so well together its so fun to see.
+Miss Disney Seungkwan gets a lot of pressure from the vocal coaches bc he's the main vocal so he's always had the stress of having to be a perfect vocalist all the time. He's always assigned the super high notes and he gets chewed out the most during recordings and stuff just because he has robe flawless. But it paid off!! He's so talented!

I just recently started stanning svt and even tho I've witnessed the first wins of the grps that I used to stan, svts first win has to be the most emotional one of all. While some grps music may be good, some seem to have their first wins too easily either because they came from a popular show or from big 3, but svts different. Having been from a small and broke company, they had no fancy backdrops, well-known producers to create their music, or even in ears to use on stage. Even their outfit here r literally everyday clothes (plaid shirts, button up tops). They really started at the rock bottom and made their way up to their first win (and many more after that) PURELY with their music, talent, and energy on stage. They had nothing to start with, but with their MUSIC, they made it to being 1 the top 3 bgs of all time. Despite being a baby carat, I can't express how proud I am of them. Record breaking, number of views, first wins aren't as meaningful nowadays as they don't represent how many ppl actually like their music. It's more like how crazy can their fans go by streaming religiously etc. Sincerely hope more even ppl will appreciate the original music and humble personalities that svt have and push them further up their career. They truly deserve it 💎💕

It's really hard to remain composed, but you can see him holding his ground and helping Hoshi and Seungkwan, trying to calm himself so they can properly thank everyone who has helped them got their first win. i always love the fact that when scoups gives the mic to someone else, anyone who was close and could take it bc he was so overwhelmed, he is the leader and has to hold them together and he quickly ran out to give a speech too but his emotions won him. ahem anyways that “someone else” being hoshi who was standing there, he was already crying his eyes out and when he’s handed the mic he looks to someone else to pass it too but when he looks, it’s just dino, the youngest, you could even see dino, willing to take the mic bc he knows that hoshi might not be able to speak properly while crying. but hoshi loves his younger members and he respects scoups too much for them to take that burden of speaking while crying. in short i just love that small moment where they show that they all love each other and willing to help each other through tough times. even if its through small actions.
it's been 4 years since this iconic moment. truly a blessing to have become their fan. I remembered Pretty U as my first comeback with them and this first win made me cry along with leader line

What made me cry the hardest is the way S. Coups still continued rapping while he was trying to control his tears at the end. But seriously, when I first entered K-Pop, I didn't really understand why idols cry this hard when they get their first win. But after watching more of seventeen and bts (both amazing groups from small companies--they're not even from the Big 3 but they're really good and really popular because of their talents, I know,) I realized that the First Win determines their whole career. Being kpop idols is a huge gamble and a true risk for them. As we all know, there are too many groups out there who disband, get forgotten or cant get a win despite their hardwork. The first win is very important and that's why they cried and that's why we carats are crying. That win helped seventeen become internationally well-known idols and that helped them continue to prosper and become even bigger. So, let's continue to love and support these dorks. I can't stop thinking about the leaders. I mean Woozi works so hard, producing the music. He's usually known as the "evil" member, so seeing this soft side to him made me cry. Plus our Hoshi. I mean he's part of the Gag Trio and he's always happy. This time he's not happy just because of a terrible but funny pun that he made, but actually winning an award. Finally, S. Coups. The "manly" member (that loves aegyo.) He's led 12 boys and had to stay strong for them. All the leaders must've gone through so much stress. I'm so proud of them

aww, you can tell the leaders worked SO HARD to get seventeen to first place, they were the ones with the strongest emotional reactions. except seungkwan, maybe, but little boo is just a very emotional person in general. but i mean, seungcheol, who is usually able to put on a brave face for his members and speak eloquently for them and get them to think positively and support each other could barely speak here... soonyoung, who is usually full of pep and energy and always finds a way to dance was completely immobilized... and jihoon, who is usually the most stoic and serious and put-together of the group couldn't even stand up by himself. i know they must have put their everything into this, because pretty u has been a PHENOMENAL comeback, music-wise and choreo-wise. here's to more wins for the near future, more happy tears, and more music from these incredibly talented boys!! I usually dont stay long to follow a group, besides YG Fam and BTS, I dont follow anyone. But, I got curious of them and since their debut, I haven't stop listening to their music. Jun is such a sweetie. What I love about 17 is that those who have long experience with showbizness prior to debut eg Jun and Vernon are more humble and happy to take the side light for other talented members. 17 is doing a good job balancing the morale of the group

I love reading the comments and seeing that in every win, every release, every achievement SEVENTEEN gets, we always revert back to this moment. This amazing moment where our boys got their first recognition and validation that all of their hard work paid off. From that green-walled practice room to the DWC Era to Home’s 10 wins and Ode to You, SEVENTEEN has really come so far. And I am so proud of everything this family has become. It’s 2020 now and they’ve just had their 5th Anniversary as SEVENTEEN. They had just released Henggarae, which as of today has sold 1 Million Copies all over the world! It’s insane! Who knows what else they’ll accomplish?! I’m pretty sure they will achieve so much more together... and when they do, I will look back at this wonderful moment again with even more pride than before. This is by far the most emotional first win I have ever seen... It makes me regret not stanning or knowing them since the very beginning. (I only knew Apink then....and only had eyes for Apink) Now that I am a Carat, knowing that this was the time where Pledis can't even afford to give them their basic necessities, no proper outfits (as you can see they're wearing regular clothes), no in-ear (they're wearing their own earphones, and other members had to ask their parents to buy them one), Woozi had to submit the song for approval 7 or 8 time(?) before it got approved. He had to revise it over and over again. They even once said that they were already happy then that they got nominated, of course they wished to win, but they never expected that they would. All of them worked so hard and they all had to go through so much. The leaders crying because for sure they feel the most pressure, Scoups as the general leader (I'm definitely sure he takes all the responsibilities to himself as he is the overall leader. Considering they're still new, he must have had been pushing himself then), Woozi as the producer (he even once said that he felt like he's the one who's going to determine the group's and the members' future, and that it was so hard for them feeling all the pressure), Hoshi as the overall performance leader (he also once said that he's worried that the performance might not capture the audience). And finally them winning definitely gave them the relief that they needed that time. 😭 Whenever I come here to watch this video, I always ALWAYS feel for them. It's just so VERY emotional for me. 😭

honestly, I've seen other first wins before for other groups but very few have left an impact on me quite like SVT's first one. Just by their stage outfits you can tell how little money they had, they're just wearing regular clothes, they don't have any fancy equipment at all, they had such a humble beginning. When you're a non big 3 group, even that first win can take so long to get, there's no safety net when your company's struggling financially. I'm so so proud of them!!

The 3 leaders, yes, we know the reason why they cried.
HE wrote and composed their group's songs ever since the start, at the same time, carrying the burden and worrying that if he failed to write a good song, then he failed his team, his friends. With that, he made every masterpiece as perfect as possible, embarked with their group's own color.
HE made every choreography as good and unique as possible. Made sure that everything is as good as perfect. Along with his team, they made SVT a group where their dance is something you have to look forward to.
HE lead a group of 12 young boys at such a young age. He protected and cared for these boys just like his own brothers. Even if he had done so much to keep the team, he still blames himself whenever something goes wrong.
But there's someone we forgot. Why did he cry anyway?
Well, we know how soft-hearted HE is. But, you think he was coined as the Variety Star of the group for nothing? In every show, he mustered all his courage and stood up for his members. As they were likely unknown at the start, he made sure that SVT will stand out. And with his 'variety skills', they actually did.
This is still the most beautiful and most iconic win of SVT.
I'm glad I stanned the right group.

Okay stop I cried reading this comment. Like with the video, I was already on the verge of tears but reading the comment just made me sob. I’m a new carat (only been for like a month but have listened to nearly every single one of their songs and have watched a lot of content. Yes I’m addicted) but I love these boys so much. They bring so much joy into my life. I think we all stanned the right group together (though I’m a bit late).
I've got to say, I am super super touched and impressed by Jeonghan's actions during their first win. When Seungcheol gave the mic to Hoshi, the shock of winning and the unexpectedness of having to speak first made him speechless; however, while others were still under the shock, you can see Jeonghan behind Hoshi whispering and telling him what he should say and who he should include in his Thank You speech (like you can read his lips at 4:51 when he says "carat"). It's only during their encore that he silently goes to the back (7:10) and finally allows himself a moment to let out the waterworks or, at least, to just take a moment to calm down. This speaks volume about what kind of person he is and the role he plays within the team, and I couldn't be any prouder of him.

Yeah, it strikes me too and I'm so proud of him. In his speech, it's rushed and you can hear the tightness in his voice but he does it anyway since the others members are down for the count at the moment. And then, when everyone is starting to get their bearings back, he finally goes to the back and takes a moment for himself.
Meanwhile I'm crying as hell while watching this video two years after the actual win, on a computer screen. I'm so impressed how he managed to hold it off like this ^^

He is the leader of svt he has to guide and care for them and that's definitely a hard work. They have the right to take it more personal and directly. I'm so proud of them :') and for Seungkwan, well, besides of always being emotional he really works hard, he has an amazing voice and he makes really really hight notes too and as you said: they know that all their work and stress finally paid off.
I agree with you and I also think the weight was lifted from Seungkwan too since he gets as much expection like the leaders because he's the main vocal. Imagine having to do those high notes on each performance. I remember from their Seventeen Project, their vocal trainer was always hard on Seungkwan because he wants him to take care of his voice and not to strain it too much.

Seriously though, S.Coups, Woozi, and Hoshi I completely expected to break down. Like:
Woozi produces all of their songs. He's done a great job up until now and this is basically his reward, and since he felt the burden of being a producer in the sense that if the songs failed he failed seventeen, it makes sense that his hard work and true dedication paid off.
S.coups is the leader of this wonder band of brothers, so he has to make sure everything is rolling, everything is good, everyone is happy and healthy, and that the members are basically better than good enough to perform excessively well. This is his reward too.
Hoshi is their choreographer. Serious props to that guy, that choreo is some catchy stuff, watched it back to back many times for da lols. Even with his recent choreo his work is insane, all performances are lively, with stuff happening all the time, its like a story. This is his reward for making a fantastic performance from Woozi's song.
Seriously, I wish them more rewards. I'm not a CARAT or anything but knowing this I really hope they win more in the future. They deserve it. Not many idol groups do this much work on their own, and so quickly too, like theyve been out for what, 1 yearish? Theyve already pumped out 4 hit singles, and solid albums. REALLY wish these guys all the best, they work so well together its so fun to see.

+Miss Disney Seungkwan gets a lot of pressure from the vocal coaches bc he's the main vocal so he's always had the stress of having to be a perfect vocalist all the time. He's always assigned the super high notes and he gets chewed out the most during recordings and stuff just because he has robe flawless. But it paid off!! He's so talented!

I just recently started stanning svt and even tho I've witnessed the first wins of the grps that I used to stan, svts first win has to be the most emotional one of all. While some grps music may be good, some seem to have their first wins too easily either because they came from a popular show or from big 3, but svts different. Having been from a small and broke company, they had no fancy backdrops, well-known producers to create their music, or even in ears to use on stage. Even their outfit here r literally everyday clothes (plaid shirts, button up tops). They really started at the rock bottom and made their way up to their first win (and many more after that) PURELY with their music, talent, and energy on stage. They had nothing to start with, but with their MUSIC, they made it to being 1 the top 3 bgs of all time. Despite being a baby carat, I can't express how proud I am of them. Record breaking, number of views, first wins aren't as meaningful nowadays as they don't represent how many ppl actually like their music. It's more like how crazy can their fans go by streaming religiously etc. Sincerely hope more even ppl will appreciate the original music and humble personalities that svt have and push them further up their career. They truly deserve it 💎💕

i always love the fact that when scoups gives the mic to someone else, anyone who was close and could take it bc he was so overwhelmed, he is the leader and has to hold them together and he quickly ran out to give a speech too but his emotions won him. ahem anyways that “someone else” being hoshi who was standing there, he was already crying his eyes out and when he’s handed the mic he looks to someone else to pass it too but when he looks, it’s just dino, the youngest, you could even see dino, willing to take the mic bc he knows that hoshi might not be able to speak properly while crying. but hoshi loves his younger members and he respects scoups too much for them to take that burden of speaking while crying. in short i just love that small moment where they show that they all love each other and willing to help each other through tough times. even if its through small actions.
it's been 4 years since this iconic moment. truly a blessing to have become their fan. I remembered Pretty U as my first comeback with them and this first win made me cry along with leader line

What made me cry the hardest is the way S. Coups still continued rapping while he was trying to control his tears at the end.
But seriously, when I first entered K-Pop, I didn't really understand why idols cry this hard when they get their first win. But after watching more of seventeen and bts (both amazing groups from small companies--they're not even from the Big 3 but they're really good and really popular because of their talents, I know,) I realized that the First Win determines their whole career.
Being kpop idols is a huge gamble and a true risk for them. As we all know, there are too many groups out there who disband, get forgotten or cant get a win despite their hardwork. The first win is very important and that's why they cried and that's why we carats are crying.
That win helped seventeen become internationally well-known idols and that helped them continue to prosper and become even bigger. So, let's continue to love and support these dorks.

I didn't think they'd win since, when I last checked, Twice was beating them. I was so fucking disappointed. But then I saw this and honestly, I screamed. I burst into tears and I'm still crying. *I'm so proud of them.* Like, words can't describe how proud I am of them and of all the Carat's. They worked so hard and we did our best to make them number one, and now that they've made it, idk what to do with myself. Congratulations to Seventeen, and congrats to all us Carats for finally getting them a much deserved win.

I can't stop thinking about the leaders. I mean Woozi works so hard, producing the music. He's usually known as the "evil" member, so seeing this soft side to him made me cry. Plus our Hoshi. I mean he's part of the Gag Trio and he's always happy. This time he's not happy just because of a terrible but funny pun that he made, but actually winning an award. Finally, S. Coups. The "manly" member (that loves aegyo.) He's led 12 boys and had to stay strong for them. All the leaders must've gone through so much stress. I'm so proud of them
As a carat, for me this will stay as the:

aww, you can tell the leaders worked SO HARD to get seventeen to first place, they were the ones with the strongest emotional reactions. except seungkwan, maybe, but little boo is just a very emotional person in general.
but i mean, seungcheol, who is usually able to put on a brave face for his members and speak eloquently for them and get them to think positively and support each other could barely speak here... soonyoung, who is usually full of pep and energy and always finds a way to dance was completely immobilized... and jihoon, who is usually the most stoic and serious and put-together of the group couldn't even stand up by himself. i know they must have put their everything into this, because pretty u has been a PHENOMENAL comeback, music-wise and choreo-wise.
here's to more wins for the near future, more happy tears, and more music from these incredibly talented boys!!

I'm a new carat and this made me cry. They look so happy with their first win. I didn't know that the group who made me laugh so hard could make me cry this hard.
I usually dont stay long to follow a group, besides YG Fam and BTS, I dont follow anyone. But, I got curious of them and since their debut, I haven't stop listening to their music. It just means, I found a group other than BB and BTS that I adore so much and wishes that, they will achieve the same success in what my bias' group did. Congrats Seventeen for your first win!!!

A year later this is fookin me. Omg i said to myself that only bts forever but i broke that promise because woozi snatched me then basicslly seventeen snatched my wig.
Their reactions are too precious i swear:
SCoups: trying to speak as a leader on behalf of the team but got too emotional
Hoshi: taking over and balling his eyes out later .. realizing his effort in the teams choreography paid off
Woozi: silently crying because all those hours of writing/composing/producing music instead of resting paid off

This is by far the most emotional first win I have ever seen...
It makes me regret not stanning or knowing them since the very beginning. (I only knew Apink then....and only had eyes for Apink)
Now that I am a Carat, knowing that this was the time where Pledis can't even afford to give them their basic necessities, no proper outfits (as you can see they're wearing regular clothes), no in-ear (they're wearing their own earphones, and other members had to ask their parents to buy them one), Woozi had to submit the song for approval 7 or 8 time(?) before it got approved. He had to revise it over and over again. They even once said that they were already happy then that they got nominated, of course they wished to win, but they never expected that they would. All of them worked so hard and they all had to go through so much.
The leaders crying because for sure they feel the most pressure, Scoups as the general leader (I'm definitely sure he takes all the responsibilities to himself as he is the overall leader. Considering they're still new, he must have had been pushing himself then),
Woozi as the producer (he even once said that he felt like he's the one who's going to determine the group's and the members' future, and that it was so hard for them feeling all the pressure),
Hoshi as the overall performance leader (he also once said that he's worried that the performance might not capture the audience). And finally them winning definitely gave them the relief that they needed that time. 😭
Whenever I come here to watch this video, I always ALWAYS feel for them. It's just so VERY emotional for me. 😭
