Thank you Joe. I had to take a hiatus for several reasons but I am back now.

Nice idea. I agree that the new sketcher took some getting used to. But now that I’m comfortable with it I love it. It was a great addition to NX.

Thanks Rick. It only takes a bit to get used to it.

I'm usually pretty resistant to major UI changes like this so when the new sketcher came out I decided to put away my grouchy tendencies and give it an honest try. Designed a pretty large and complex machined part over the course of about three weeks and man.. I don't think I've ever had a more frustrating experience. I had multiple sketches just completely fail to update, lock themselves up and not respond to changes, behave in completely unreasonable ways, show as constrained or unconstrained when they really weren't, etc. I'm a long time CAD user and I've been using NX professionally for almost a decade and the new sketcher is, to me, a huge step backward in robustness and design clarity.

I get exactly what you are saying. I do.
I have seen that across the board on all platforms that have introduced a new tool-set. I remember seeing parts that update just fine on one computer and failed to do the exact same update on a different computer.
The unfortunate nature of things is that developers do not have every environment to test in so things can get messed up and it takes time to correct those things.
I will say this: the new sketcher is better now than when first introduced. It has gotten more stable.

Absolutely spot on! Also tried it the same way - always nice to explore new features. Generally comparing to other CAD Systems the NX sketcher was not good or rather bad anyway...but this new one is a complete mess. It's simply not possible to get a bit more complex sketches driving... further there are lots of limitations and bugs...the automatic relations are nice for very simple sketches but a disaster for a bit larger ones.
I just don't get how this isn't any issue for most CAD Systems but a pretty mess in NX....maybe some patents out there preventing them?

Thanks for the video! Welcome back.
I didn't finished watching the last video about the corner surfacing, and now it gone. Hopefully I will able to watch it soon (please upload more videos about class A surfacing- Wich are the most interesting). Thanks for all your hard work.
Maybe you can create a Facebook group about class A surfacing, so everyone can share they're knowledge.

I get what you are saying, I just do not want to manage a group. I will do more Class A stuff soon.
      Thank you for your comment.

Steve, another nice video. Thank you so much. Really appreciated.
I use Daimler NX 1937 and it has some functions as well :)

Yes sir. The new sketcher has been around for a few releases. Get used to it. It really is nice.

how do you enable the selection filter you use @11:21 of the video?

When you are working in a sketch those should be available to you.
Those things may change a little bit depending on if you're working in the context of an assembly and also what version of NX are you working in

Why is the "equal" or "colinear" definition you defined not visible all the time. How to make it visible. I hate it not to see what I defined before, and not be able to delete it if obsolete.

    • @ClassASurfacing

Relations/Constraints only appear based off of what you have selected.

    • @rickintexas1584
      @rickintexas1584 2 года назад

There is a button to “Show Persistent” relations.

    • @tgoi6489

@@rickintexas1584 there is a button to switch this bullshit off a to go back to proper sketch. This is better solution..

Give me a little time. I will cover different options for relations and how they are different from constraints.
I know where some of the confusion stems from and I will demystify them a bit.

      Will correct.
