As ever Graham, there's always something new I can learn from you, and thanks for that - you're streets ahead of your imitators on RUclips. S for superb!
Merci beaucoup. Since I started my music studies only at 65 yoa, I am lacking a musical ear. I think I am impressing my piano teacher with my technical ability, but I cannot hear the notes in triads. I decided to concentrate on triads to start, and with the harmonies in major keys. I am impressed with musicians who can pick out exactly which notes are being played. I'm better than when I started two years ago.
I’m an early intermediate player with a musical, but non-piano, background. I think the floating fermata is just what I need. I understand the music on the page, but my fingers often need a brief timeout to regroup. I’ve been trying with poor success to increase speed over the whole piece. I also liked the idea of slow practice with quick hand movements. Thank you! I learn a lot from you and Pianist magazine.
My teacher taught me to read ahead, that’s the one of the most important skills IMO. You play this bar but already reading the next one. Very hard to make yourself doing that but the results are tremendous.
Wonderful as always Graham - I’m so glad you are pressing ahead with this series. With your videos I find I either pick up new ways of presenting ideas, or (as in this case) get great reassurance that your explanations echo the things I try to introduce to my learners (have just finished a session where I was explaining these very same things). Greetings from David in Bath (and your friend Lizzie in Catharine Place!).
very helpful, thank you. Interested to learn different ways to perform the same passage, coz phrases sometimes repeats, but people don't wanna hear it in the same way. Thank you.
