Tamar can sing an all that (5 octave range and whistle register like Mariah) but there's a reason why Toni is such a legend and will always be bigger because she was the alto equivalent to Whitney. I'm not understanding why Tamar is so determined to downplay the fact that without Toni's connections that she'd still be the egotistical "never-was" that she was back in 2000.
All of that is true but Vince was involved in Toni's career success so who's to say he would not have done the same for his wife without being Toni's sister. Just another way to look at it. Sure Toni was the star that introduced her family to the business. They all know that.
Jacquelyn Fromm Toni also introduced Vince to Tamar. Toni is in the business for what, 25 years? Tamar was a child when Toni started. Again, if it wasn't for her there wouldn't be no producer or whatever to help Tamar where she is now. And besides that Toni has kept them relevant, helped them to get signed. And lets be honest, Toni could easily said no to do a realityshow but she didn't..And because of that she gave her sisters another chance. If it wasn;t for her there wouldn't be a show. Look at them now.

Vince WAS NOT involved in Toni's career success that would be Babyface. Vince managed Toni for 9 months, and that was when she did "pulse" then she fired him. Vince could not have done what he did for Tamar without the show. Vince has know Tamar for about 12 year and with all that voice Tamar was still struggling and no one checking for her. Her being ratcheted on the show also help, because the younger ones communicated with her. Tamar is very ungrateful, I see her bull, she does not like to give others credit, and that the real tea.
Yes very very true. VInce has nothing to do with Toni´s succes story. Tamar should be very thankful of Toni, and give her the credits she deserves. Oh well, It is what it is.
To all I never said Vince made Tony what she is. I simply said he was involved in her career. i am aware of when Toni started out in the business she is from my home town and we are all very aware of her around here and have been. No I do not know all her personal history for I really have never been that into them. I enjoy the show and all the sisters. Yes, they all have their issues like all sisters. Again I keep in mind like all reality shows a part of it is scripted so we really do not know what is true and unless you are related to them I am afraid none of you do either. Agree? I am sure al of the sisters are grateful to Toni, They all know the real truth.

Some people heard of The Braxtons before Toni 🤷🏽♂️ they had a #1 song on the Dance charts in the 90s (The Boss). and even if Toni wasn’t “Toni Braxton”, I’m sure Tamar would’ve made it. what would’ve stopped her? she had the looks, talent, and voice ... it wasn’t hard to get a record deal in the 90s. the only thing that held her up was being the sister of Toni Braxton. similar to Janet and Solange, Tamar releases an album and it didn’t do good, however, she bounced back with Love And War and look where it got her.

Tamar was also the executive producer so what’s your point? WEtv didn’t ask Toni if she wanted a spin-off. People say Toni is the reason why the show exists but regardless, Tamar was the only one who made the show interesting ... as you can see in Season 7, the show was dull without her.
My two cents: TONI BRAXTON is The Braxton Family. Would they have had the show if Toni wasn't famous? Not taking anything away from Tamar, she can sing but for me she doesn't have star quality. Sibling rivalry will always be there as all of them tried to push their music after Toni. And only Tamar was successful. People who like to compare Toni with Tamar piss me off. They will never be the same, from the voice, behaviour and the music. Good luck to all of them on their careers.
I totally agree, although people be hating on me when I say.... Tamar has a beautiful voice, but definitely not entertaining or star quality. She actually just don't have that "it factor" now her star quality is that of issues and in need of star quality attention!!! I think it's time for her to grown up, just my opinion

If Toni didn't sign there would be no BFV period. Tamar has come a long way and her voice is amazing but she honestly wouldn't have anything without Toni, not even her husband Vince and that's the truth.

Tamar is not telling the truth. LaFace has made it perfectly clear that they only wanted Toni. You see Tawanda talked over Tamar to shut her up but even when they as they got older, labels only wanted Toni. They got a deal because of Toni. Even now, Tamar got a deal thru her husband. The industry knows that she can sing, but no one would sign her. Vince has spent more money on damage control than Tamar has made. Tamar may have a name in the States but Toni is an international superstar. Tamar's 100,000 to Toni's 60,000,000+ is not much at all.

They wanted someone who was young, yet of a consensual age in which they can mold. Had they been looking for a little girl to sign, I’m SURE with Tamar’s talent they would’ve chosen her! Toni was talented & fit what the label was looking for.
Toni got them ONE record label deal, and that was for their group. Tamar has actually gotten 5 record labels ON HER OWN.. so it’s not that no one wanted to sign her, NONE of them supported her in the way that they should.

Not only was tamar 15, but all the sisters including tamar sang backup for toni. Soooooo the lie that they stick to is invalid.laface wanted the real star, toni (and got the sisters for cheap).toni fandangled them a deal and they came out in 1996 with the best producers and rappers and two top notch videos out of 4. They were lackluster. I remember it vividly. Tamar snuck around and got a solo deal without her sisters knowing and married a producer. All of the videos were top notch. Didnt even make it to apollo. Ff, she married the hugely successful herbert. He was tonis manager. He and toni come together for the show and added tamars name.toni did it for her sisters once again.

"Jealousy not being a part of your vocabulary" is not a response to the questions of jealousy over the success of your siblings. Of course they've felt jealous. And, I'm sure that if Toni didn't involve them in what she did, they would've been angry with her for not, somehow, sharing her success with them. I personally feel that Tamar's comments about her success not being connecting to Toni is definitely some major denial. No one would even know who she was had she not been singing back up for Toni, meeting her husband, and eventually becoming a reality star. Its all because of Toni's stardom.

In my Tamar voice, THE LIES YOU TELL TOWANDA! Evelyn may have been the vessel used for their arrival on earth, and their introduction to music, but it was Toni's voice, beauty, and stage presence that open the door for her sisters. It was Toni, that Laface records wanted, not the Braxons. When the show aired it was Toni, that we all tuned in for, not her sisters. The Braxton sisters, all except Towanda, jealous, mean spirited tale, have created a fan base. If Toni had not agreed to do the show with them, they would not have the success that they are currently enjoying. Towanda does not have the beauty or personality that her siblings have. I am not saying that she is ugly, she just doesn't have a wow factor, (In my Tamar voice), POINT BLANK AND THE PERIOD. We the people of social media are not trying to draw a wedge between the Braxton sisters, we only respond to what they reveal. They show us jealousy, sibling rivalry, envy, resentment, parent disrespect, I could continue, but you know where I'm going. If you don't want people to speak about your family dynamics, STOP showcasing it for the WORLD to see....

Times are VERY different in the music industry. R&B is no longer selling, but if Tamar had the proper team behind her it’s evident that she would’ve been able to match that success of Toni. She’s just as talented
I just have to say this again although I made this comment somewhere else on here. People want to forget (even after seeing Toni's Behind the Music) that Toni was SOLO when she was FIRST discovered pumping gas at a gas station while singing to herself. She invited her sisters to sing back up on the demo she was working on and the then upcoming producer she was working with came up with the idea to make them a group; said he could probably get Toni a deal faster with her sisters since girl groups were in. He didn't know that they would later audition for Babyface and Babyface and LA Reid had just signed TLC and didn't want another girl group. Babyface has always said he chose Toni because of her unique voice; not because she was the oldest. Being the oldest doesn't mean you have star power and that you are talented. That's a bunch of BS and the sisters know it. I don't know why they even said that at all.
Toni maybe the biggest "Star" in the family but that doesn't mean that she's higher than her sisters. I admire all of the sisters Toni, Tamar, Trina, Towanda, Traci & even Miss E. They are some truly talented women., all have beautiful voices. At the end of the day it does NOT matter which one is more famous than the other because it doesn't define who Toni is. I admire Toni for who she is and not because she is famous. Same goes to her sisters & mom. I would love for the sisters and the mom to come out with a album. Even if Toni only does a few songs on the family album. I would still be interested in it. The Braxtons are very similar but have their differences because that's what makes them who they are individually. Would love to hear them on the radio with new music because the music that's out these days is straight up trash. One thing I can say is that they all love each other and that's the important thing of it all.

Congrats to her on that win. Doesn't change a thing about the paradigm shift. That album was in effect a "Hail Mary" play because she was talking about leaving the business. The sisters put in an SOS call to Babyface and he had an intervention conversation with her that resulted in the album.
So, it is safe to say that had he not done so, she would have moved forward with her plans to leave the business. One generally does not make such plans to leave at the height of one's career...This kind of thing generally happens toward the end. So, I stand by my previous statements. It's nice to know that people still care but, the fact remains that it is Tamar's turn at bat. And she is working hard to make it a good run. Go Tamar!

Marrying Vincent Herbert and your sister's fame and willingness to assist, is what attracted MILLIONS to BFV reality show, which PUT YOU in the spotlight, giving you the opportunities to gain celebrity status and finally take off with your music and be finally noticed! Ever since the BFV started Tamar got big headed and disrespectful to Toni B and rest of sisters if that was in the 90s she wouldn't do that because Toni B was feeding them . Toni said last year she regretted doing the BFV because we all see the true color of Tamar it made her very worse,ungrateful,arrogant,prideful. No wonder her sisters don't want hang with her. Toni B has a good heart ,and very caring of others .I told her this in twitter this could be a reason why God chose her as He did David instead his brothers when prophet Samuel went to anoint the sons of Jesse. In fact, without Toni's name being attached to the project, I sincerely doubt millions, like myself, who waited for the premier with baited breath, would have done so. Therefore, Toni's fan base HAS to be factored in as the main denominator for the show even warranting consideration by the networks.
Tamar had the perfect opportunity to give Toni props during this interview and by not doing so, her response to Bethenny's question to the family @1:31,"So do you kind of thank Toni for the fact that you guys all have the show and its success, and that she paved the way?" Tamar's: "I don't know about the show, but you know... well, I just thank her for her doo wop popness...", was a slap in Toni's face (Toni is also one of the Executive Producers of BFV), and the face of every one of Toni's fans.
Yes, Tamar is the breakout star of the show, sings beautifully on her 1st album (I've not heard her Xmas album), and is charismatic enough to hold one's attention from week to week, albeit sometimes in horror. However, without Toni's fame as the foundation and major hook, she must know, really, she must, there wouldn't have been a show. What Tamar also doesn't seem to realize is at age 36/37, sadly, it won't be long before the kids find her irrelevant. Then what? Toni has songs that will live on long after she's gone. Tamar???

@@allspotsclean The network would've never picked Braxton Family Values up if Toni Braxton did not sign on to be apart of the show because she was the most known person from the family at the time so they would've never cared about the rest of them. Tamar needs to be grateful that Toni agreed to do the show because if not then she probably would've never got another chance to reignite her solo career from the exposure of the show. Also that reality show that Towanda was on in the early 00's was not her show, it was Iyanla's show with other past celebrities.

i think its the opposite actually toni practically raised tamar, tamar only as admiration for toni's accomplishments, the other sisters (trina and towanda) have actually tried to cause a rift between tamar and toni multiple times. toni even said on camera to tamar, that no matter how much time she spends with her assistant, towanda, tamar will always be closest to her

No honey. If Toni had not existed Vince would be irrelevant, him and Tamar wouldn't have been married. Vince knew Toni first and and she introduced them. Also if Toni Braxton didnt exist the show wouldnt even have been a thought because we wouldnt know that the Braxton sisters existed, (most of us didnt know they existed until the show) Toni put them on the map even before she was famous; just by pumping gas into her car and that's how they got their first deal. Yes, people do seem to overlook or forget that part of the equation. Lets face it without Tamar and her craziness, there would be no show at all. That's the truth for me anyway. She is why I turn on the show. She is a trip and fun to watch. I do not turn on this show to see Toni. Would not be that fun at all. Anyone who thinks these sisters' are jealous of each other don't know how it is to grow up in a large family. I have 5 sisters and i'm the only male, growing up in a huge family, the dynamics are different. One moment you will get along the next min you cannot, but the family bond is unbreakable, stop trying to make them be jealous of each other or hate one another. It won't happen.
