In February of 2020, 18-year-old college freshman, Nate Lewis, experienced a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) while longboarding with friends in La Mirada, CA. Over two years later, Nate is still recovering from his injuries but the faith journey of his family has inspired many. Two graduates of Biola University's School of Cinema and Media Arts have dedicated time to make a film that brings TBI awareness while centering the story around the perseverance and faith of the Lewis family. Even in the midst of tragedy, God is still good!

Michaela- Nate and his family are not religious either. GOD has shown them the love, sacrifice and forgiveness through His son, JESUS, and now they have a RELATIONSHIP with Him and follow Him passionately. Not religion. Relationship with Jesus. I pray you will have one, too. You are loved beyond your wildest hopes. Incomparably loved and blessed beyond belief. I pray that Nate Lewis is healed, in Jesus mighty name and that you become a passionate Christ follower like he is. Romans 10:9 Amen.
@@joanhenry8586 I think the original commenter's intention was to say she isn't a person who follows a particular religion or faith path but still found value in the message of the documentary.. So while I agree with you that knowing Jesus is all about relationship and allowing him to help us lead the best life possible while we wait for eternity, I appreciate Michaela's willingness to be honest with the impact the documentary had. That's a win in my book and I appreciate the encouragement and support! 😊

She spent most of 2020 with us after his accident and then moved on with our full support and blessing. And she recently got engaged! We are so happy for her and how God is working in her life!
So happy to hear, I was really hoping she wouldn't feel guilty if she moves on, she seems like a wonderful woman and deserves her own life journey being so young.

A helmet would have lessened his injury. That is the issue with skateboarders and bikers they refuse to use a helmet. A helmet will honestly lessen your injury.
@@suid211 Yes and no. Definitely, skateboarders and bikers should wear helmets. However, according to the neurosurgeon who worked on Nate, it is unlikely to have been a huge benefit for him. Helmets help primarily to protect the skull from injury and to buffer minor head impacts. In Nate's case, there was very minimal damage to his skull. His injury is primarily a result of his brain bouncing around inside his head because the impact was so hard and fast. It was the sudden and significant change of velocity that was the problem. A helmet would not have done much to help with that unfortunately.
Your comment is not only unhelpful, but it's also uninformed. And this is not to say that you are wrong about skateboarders and bicyclist etc needing to wear helmets, they absolutely should, helmets save lives everyday... However, you just don't know anything, really, about Nate's brain injury. So its reckless to make assumptions about what he didn't do, or refused to do or what he should've, could've done... In situations like this I think the reason families put these videos like this out is because they're hoping to educate people on several points such as traumatic brain injuries, the importance of helmets etc, and just wanting to update people on his progress.... What Im 100% sure that no one posts videos like this hoping to get is harsh judgment from rude, uninformed, and unhelpful people 😢

@@tammyhollandsworth6783 Nate continues to make steps of progress all the time. Rhat video was filmed in summer 2021. If you look at my more recent videos on this RUclips channel, you will see the huge strides he has made in the last 3 years! It's pretty amazing how far he has come!

Interesting documentary. First lesson, don't do something stupid like this poor young man. But aside from the music and the sad happening of this incident, this documentary doesn't do much. Has inspired many?? I don't think so. It's just his parents talking and some of his friends. This documentary hasn't inspired me at all.
I am sorry that you didnt have a heart response to this true story of a young man’s accident and his family’s LOVING, faithful response. May you never be involved in a tragic accident…but if you are, may God surround you with love and care as He has Nate, in Jesus name!
