It's kinda interesting how it's considered really bad in the states due to the crappy quality of the ingredients while in Europe due to the various laws about quality of the products and local sourcing of ingredients it's actually really good

Our district had franchises competing against each other to see which one could offer the fastest service possible. 90% of the food we made was botched on arrival simply because we had to move fast and throw them together; we usually forgot to even pick the shaker up to put seasoning on the burgers, it was that chaotic. Corporate was fucking useless, too - it nearly took them 3 weeks to acknowledge a pipe leak that threatened our dry storage, and another week to get it repaired. And yes, the Ch'King was our best menu item just by the grace of the chicken being freshly hand-breaded twice by an employee before deep-fried. The breading was the one thing not frozen.

As a current Burger King employee, I can tell you why they're always flat. It's because the toasters we use are pieces of garbage and unless we flatten the buns down before placing them into the top slot so they can be toasted and spit out the bottom, they'll get stuck and burn up in the toaster.

I've recently learned just how spoiled the local Burger King made me. For many years, they would be my go-to for fast food, and I never understood the BK hate until I tried other places. It's WILD how different the same line of stuff can taste between different establishments. My place even seasons the fries right! It's almost as if they are forced to taste their own food lol.

Can confirm, South Korean BK is just like going to some burger restaurant, not even mass produced fast food. Same in the EU and every other place that has BK I've ever been to(maybe a little bit worse than the Korean one), I think the US is the only country on the entire Earth to have such repulsive and life-threatening Burger Kings. My grandfather, who died at 96 years old, used to take my sister and I to burger king now and then. I was a small child at the time, but it's super memorable. Core memories. It was a treat for him more than us, but we got to hang out with our grandpa, get some fast food, and get a toy. Since those days I've had it once and it was fine. Not something I'm actively seeking out, but I wouldn't pass it up if someone put it in front of me at lunch time.

growing up my single mom really struggled but we got coupons from burger king and that’s the only fast food we would eat. so burger king always has a special place in my heart :’) yes it might be mediocre food but it had memories to it hahah
The nuggets used to be shaped like crowns, and used a different type of breading. They changed them a few years back to be similar to the McDonald nugget.
As someone who used to work at Burger King, I can explain why half or more of these food items are kinda shitty as best I can. It is because we have a hold time of 5 days instead of the usual standard of 1-3 days for literally anything. And we are also told that we have a drive through hold time of 3 minutes or less, which forces the managers and older cashiers like myself, I was 25, now I'm 26, to essentially do the work of 2 people, alongside kids that basically have the labor output of one whole worker for 2 people. These places also suffer from heavy mismanagement. When we were shortstaffed, instead of rewarding me or just... letting me stay a cashier there and hire more drive through and kitchen workers, they responded by hiring more children and defecting me to the drive-through to take orders, and then lessened the shifts from a whole week for me to like 3 days per week to compensate for the extra labor. This place was the final push I needed to use my 4-8 years of customer service experience to get a good work at home job and a nice apartment. I quit. P.S.: I will never eat the Impossible Whopper simply because from the back it smells like it came out of a garbage can.
Can you confirm if BK actually made all whoppers the impossible whopper or do they actually have separate patties. With how shitty BK is I would expect them to slowly switch out to only being impossible whoppers and forcing it on people.

You can often tell from looks alone. BK has a really wide and flat shape to it, with tons of sesame seeds on the bun. Simply smelling it makes me sick, as well, so I wouldn't need to eat it to find out, personally. McDonald's is pretty round in shape, and basically the definition of C tier. Wendy's has the square patty and swims in grease, making every bite taste worse than the last. Carl's Jr/Hardee's tastes pretty good, and is basically the better version of BK in every way, but you gotta tell them no condiments and put them on themselves, or you're gonna be eating soup.
I live in canada and the burger king near me has like the absolute best manager. He makes sure his staff cooks up the food properly while also making them look like gourmet burgers. Dude has like 5 restaurant awards on the wall and he deserves every single one of them 😁
Lucky dude, where I live in Canada the local Burger King is tucked in a corner on a busy street and it's always empty. I've only ever seen a single employee at the front, and they never clean the floors or tables. I felt horribly sick after eating the bacon cheeseburger.

A couple years ago, some buddies decided to do a "nuggie run" which consists of buying as many nuggets as possible. And they went to burger King, and got somewhere around like 300 nuggies and it was glorious
like 6 years ago our burger king sold 9 nuggets for 1,50€ me and my friends went there stoned out of our minds and bought 450 of them went home and watched pothead movies while everybody had a bigass bowl filled with nuggets :D

I remember a brief period of loving BK because there was one inside the book store on the college campus I went to, and every time I went there the food was really fresh and made well. Then the second I went to a BK that wasnt that one it was awful. I realized that BK on campus was special because the food was actually good.

Yeah, the filet o fish used to be my favorite item on the menu and I'd always order one when I went there but over the past few years they have been small and dry so I just quit going to McDonald's for the most part. I think I've visited McDonald's twice over the last year (since January 2023). I wish Wendy's would have their fish sandwich available all year though because that is probably the best fish sandwich I've had in my life and easily a 10/10 but it's only available during lent which sucks. The Burger King big fish isn't bad though, it's probably a 5/10 though whereas the Filet o fish is maybe a 3.5/10. I have had Popeyes fish sandwich before and it was very good, I'd maybe rate it a 7/10 but it's nowhere near Wendy's level. I've had Arby's fish sandwich as well and it was also a 7/10 but there isn't an Arby's in my town so yeah... But yeah, I suggest trying Wendy's fish sandwich when it's available, by far the best fast food fish sandwich IMO. The filet o fish is probably the worst fast food fish sandwich which hurts to say because I used to love them when I was younger.
Burger King is a HUGE hit or miss. The burger king by me has the original chicken sandwich and its one of my favorite fast food sandwiches especially since theres usually a coupon for 2 of them and 2 small fries for 4$. But then you go to the next one over and they serve an undercooked patty on a bun burnt so bad you wonder how it even ended up so burnt without the whole building burning down too.
Truthfully I don't know how they stay open. Once went to burger King during a time where it was supposed to be lunch rush and I was the only customer. Every time I pass a Burger King I either see one or no (75% of the time it's barren) cars in the drive-through. Meanwhile the Popeyes across the street has at least 3 or 4 cars at all times.

Burger King is really dependent on what location people are ordering from. The location I have is actually really good. The customer service is pretty good, with the staff members not always wanting to kill themselves. And the bacon/stacker king is my favorite thing to order from there.
This. In and around STL the BKs are just fine. I'd still prefer Jack in the Box, Dairy Queen or White Castle, but they beat out McDonald's by a mile, and they're better than Wendy's and Hardee's.
I still can't get over how bad BK is in the states. Here in Germany I prefer it over any of the other big fast food chains. They slap. Especially the vegan/veggie alternatives.

As some people have already stated, for some reason Burger King varies with its quality from place to place. The one at my old university campus was actually really good, the whopper there was great and the fries were seasoned pretty good. I went to another place in the middle of a road trip and it was god awful. The place even smelled terrible. It’s like a Burger King paradox that for every one good BK, there’s another terrible one
So, burger king here in this town was absolute garbage 5 years ago... They've actually turned it around in the last year or so. Hopefully the cook there right now doesn't leave... My only complaint now is the UNSEASONED FRIES....
Burger king in pretty much every place I've been in the UK is so much better than all the other alternatives. Mcdonalds is always either not cooked enough or overcooked (and the burgers don't taste great to begin with) and the chips are soggy. KFC is kinda hit or miss, either really good or awful.

With the one near your university campus, there would be a lot of students going there (y'know, students love fast food), so they have to make it good to do good business. Living in a rural area, there are like 2 within 50 miles of me, and both of them slap. I legitimately didn't understand all the hate, as I've never had a bad experience.
A true story: I made my dad get a triple whopper because we both thought it was funny, he somehow ate the whole thing, his stomach hurt so bad I had to drive home for him, at 14, and three weeks later his gallbladder had to be removed.

for any chain, location matters and it is unpredictable. the BK just next to me used to be god-awful trash but in the last few years it morphed into one of the best BK i ever seen. that may not be saying much but it was a dramatic improvement.
the opposite is true for me. I used to work at the BK near me, and while I worked there, everything was fine for a chain fast food, nothing to complain about, and when I quit, I stopped going to eat for a while, tried going back to eat, and was just disappointed with everything from quality of service to quality of food. Went downhill in the worst ways.
Hungry Jacks in Australia (international copyright nonsense occured when BK opened here) is consistently pretty good for my money. Best thing currently is the 'Jack's Fried Chicken' line, all sandwiches (which is also more KFC's mainstay here rather than pieces), and every one I've had has been a good sized slab of breast, ripping hot and fresh, crispy as all get out, tender and moist. Just sadly completely unseasoned, and the varieties don't add much flavour. Jacks' overall is usually decent but rarely bursting with flavour.

I stand by this: The Chking was one of the best chicken sandwiches (yes even compared to the Popeyes). Once BK noticed they had a good item they promptly discontinued it so as not to tarnish their sterling reputation as the shittiest fast food restaurant

I work at a BK and I made Chkings, it was good because it was the only things that was made extremely fresh. There was a cart where you would bread raw chicken then fry it. The thing is that everyone really hated making it because it smelled so fucking because the chicken was just sitting in a hot metal container

As a current Burger King employee, I can tell you why they're always flat. It's because the toasters we use are pieces of garbage and unless we flatten the buns down before placing them into the top slot so they can be toasted and spit out the bottom, they'll get stuck and burn up in the toaster.

I've recently learned just how spoiled the local Burger King made me. For many years, they would be my go-to for fast food, and I never understood the BK hate until I tried other places. It's WILD how different the same line of stuff can taste between different establishments. My place even seasons the fries right! It's almost as if they are forced to taste their own food lol.
Yeah, where I lived the BK was pretty good and their food was always fresh (probably cuz hardly anyone went there). But one time I went to a BK out of town and it was terrible. Even the soda machine was terrible. I honestly think BK isn't that bad, but certain places can make it bad.. Like really bad

Can confirm, South Korean BK is just like going to some burger restaurant, not even mass produced fast food. My grandfather, who died at 96 years old, used to take my sister and I to burger king now and then. I was a small child at the time, but it's super memorable. Core memories. It was a treat for him more than us, but we got to hang out with our grandpa, get some fast food, and get a toy.

The nuggets used to be shaped like crowns, and used a different type of breading. They changed them a few years back to be similar to the McDonald nugget.

As someone who used to work at Burger King, I can explain why half or more of these food items are kinda shitty as best I can. It is because we have a hold time of 5 days instead of the usual standard of 1-3 days for literally anything. And we are also told that we have a drive through hold time of 3 minutes or less, which forces the managers and older cashiers like myself, I was 25, now I'm 26, to essentially do the work of 2 people, alongside kids that basically have the labor output of one whole worker for 2 people. These places also suffer from heavy mismanagement. When we were shortstaffed, instead of rewarding me or just... letting me stay a cashier there and hire more drive through and kitchen workers, they responded by hiring more children and defecting me to the drive-through to take orders, and then lessened the shifts from a whole week for me to like 3 days per week to compensate for the extra labor.
This place was the final push I needed to use my 4-8 years of customer service experience to get a good work at home job and a nice apartment. I quit.
P.S.: I will never eat the Impossible Whopper simply because from the back it smells like it came out of a garbage can.
Can you confirm if BK actually made all whoppers the impossible whopper or do they actually have separate patties. With how shitty BK is I would expect them to slowly switch out to only being impossible whoppers and forcing it on people.

You can often tell from looks alone. BK has a really wide and flat shape to it, with tons of sesame seeds on the bun. Simply smelling it makes me sick, as well, so I wouldn't need to eat it to find out, personally. McDonald's is pretty round in shape, and basically the definition of C tier. Wendy's has the square patty and swims in grease, making every bite taste worse than the last. Carl's Jr/Hardee's tastes pretty good, and is basically the better version of BK in every way, but you gotta tell them no condiments and put them on themselves, or you're gonna be eating soup.

Lucky dude, where I live in Canada the local Burger King is tucked in a corner on a busy street and it's always empty. I've only ever seen a single employee at the front, and they never clean the floors or tables. I felt horribly sick after eating the bacon cheeseburger.

The fish sandwich many years ago was actually pretty good. It used to be bigger than the bun, but then they changed it and now it’s tiny and gross.
Yeah, the filet o fish used to be my favorite item on the menu and I'd always order one when I went there but over the past few years they have been small and dry so I just quit going to McDonald's for the most part. I think I've visited McDonald's twice over the last year (since January 2023). I wish Wendy's would have their fish sandwich available all year though because that is probably the best fish sandwich I've had in my life and easily a 10/10 but it's only available during lent which sucks.
The Burger King big fish isn't bad though, it's probably a 5/10 though whereas the Filet o fish is maybe a 3.5/10. I have had Popeyes fish sandwich before and it was very good, I'd maybe rate it a 7/10 but it's nowhere near Wendy's level. I've had Arby's fish sandwich as well and it was also a 7/10 but there isn't an Arby's in my town so yeah...
But yeah, I suggest trying Wendy's fish sandwich when it's available, by far the best fast food fish sandwich IMO. The filet o fish is probably the worst fast food fish sandwich which hurts to say because I used to love them when I was younger.

Burger King is a HUGE hit or miss. The burger king by me has the original chicken sandwich and its one of my favorite fast food sandwiches especially since theres usually a coupon for 2 of them and 2 small fries for 4$. But then you go to the next one over and they serve an undercooked patty on a bun burnt so bad you wonder how it even ended up so burnt without the whole building burning down too.

Truthfully I don't know how they stay open. Once went to burger King during a time where it was supposed to be lunch rush and I was the only customer. Every time I pass a Burger King I either see one or no (75% of the time it's barren) cars in the drive-through. Meanwhile the Popeyes across the street has at least 3 or 4 cars at all times.
Thats just any franchise in general.
Maybe it does vary from different franchises because I only eat at one Burger King place and the Chicken Sandwich tasted dry and bland.

Burger King is really dependent on what location people are ordering from. The location I have is actually really good. The customer service is pretty good, with the staff members not always wanting to kill themselves. And the bacon/stacker king is my favorite thing to order from there.

As some people have already stated, for some reason Burger King varies with its quality from place to place. The one at my old university campus was actually really good, the whopper there was great and the fries were seasoned pretty good. I went to another place in the middle of a road trip and it was god awful. The place even smelled terrible. It’s like a Burger King paradox that for every one good BK, there’s another terrible one
So, burger king here in this town was absolute garbage 5 years ago... They've actually turned it around in the last year or so. Hopefully the cook there right now doesn't leave... My only complaint now is the UNSEASONED FRIES....
Burger king in pretty much every place I've been in the UK is so much better than all the other alternatives. Mcdonalds is always either not cooked enough or overcooked (and the burgers don't taste great to begin with) and the chips are soggy. KFC is kinda hit or miss, either really good or awful.
@@ChaoticKrisis McDonald's must be way different over there I've never had soggy chips there ad and they tend to cook stuff just right the only problem is that if you look at the pink sludge they turn into the patties it's hard to think of them as burgers considering they're basically just addictive discs of ground up kirby
I can kind of understand why. With the one near your university campus, there would be a lot of students going there (y'know, students love fast food), so they have to make it good to do good business. I don't think the one you went to on a road trip has a lot of people so they probably didn't even bother with the quality. They didn't even bother cleaning or using fresh ingredients. I mean, why would you if you aren't getting enough business anyways?
Living in a rural area, there are like 2 within 50 miles of me, and both of them slap. I legitimately didn't understand all the hate, as I've never had a bad experience.

If you have to get your gallbladder removed, it was caused by multiple bad decisions leading up to it.

for any chain, location matters and it is unpredictable. the BK just next to me used to be god-awful trash but in the last few years it morphed into one of the best BK i ever seen. that may not be saying much but it was a dramatic improvement.
the opposite is true for me. I used to work at the BK near me, and while I worked there, everything was fine for a chain fast food, nothing to complain about, and when I quit, I stopped going to eat for a while, tried going back to eat, and was just disappointed with everything from quality of service to quality of food. Went downhill in the worst ways.
Yeah the management matters though McDonald's in comparison seems 2 be consistent.
Hungry Jacks in Australia (international copyright nonsense occured when BK opened here) is consistently pretty good for my money.
Best thing currently is the 'Jack's Fried Chicken' line, all sandwiches (which is also more KFC's mainstay here rather than pieces), and every one I've had has been a good sized slab of breast, ripping hot and fresh, crispy as all get out, tender and moist. Just sadly completely unseasoned, and the varieties don't add much flavour. Jacks' overall is usually decent but rarely bursting with flavour.
Yeah I live in Canada so bk is just generally better (I've tried it in the us before) but I agree. It is totally dependent on location, I live between two and the one near my work sucks but the one near wear I play hockey is actually really good. In all honesty though as far as fast food here goes Harveys or AnW is my personal favorite
I agree. I don't eat a lot of fast food in general but at least where I live the whoppers are pretty good. Likely an unpopular opinion, but I like the flame broiled taste.

I stand by this: The Chking was one of the best chicken sandwiches (yes even compared to the Popeyes). Once BK noticed they had a good item they promptly discontinued it so as not to tarnish their sterling reputation as the shittiest fast food restaurant

@@kdl256 it was a completely different sandwich, i did side by sides with my friends as a taste test, VERY different chicken preparation, and neck in neck for quality. Which, as i said, was all the motivation they needed to axe it.

I work at a BK and I made Chkings, it was good because it was the only things that was made extremely fresh. There was a cart where you would bread raw chicken then fry it. The thing is that everyone really hated making it because it smelled so fucking because the chicken was just sitting in a hot metal container
